This is one S L O W movie. The basic story is different from the original by Bram Stoker, and at first, l Ilked the backstory presented at the beginning that set the stage for the obsessions. But there were too many aspects that weighed it down.
Okay, it was pretty. Nice costumes. But I started to feel like I was watching "Pride and Prejudice" - only with a vampire and rats. The scenes often "looked" like sets. The acting often seemed like "acting." And it just seemed to drag on.
It always felt like I was watching a movie, rather than being engrossed in the story. Tries too hard to be "artsy."
The original 1922 film, "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror," the F. W. Mauranu silent German expressionist vampire film version of Bram Stoker's tale is more inventive - and more fascinating to watch - given its era and the technology available at the time.
The 2024 version is just too overwrought.

I am, frankly, surprised at the overall low ratings for this movie.
First of all, I didn't know it was a made-for-TV movie until I read it on IMDB. So, I think it's higher quality than many, if not most made-for-TV movies I've seen.
I never saw Police Academy, so if there were jokes or riffs on that movie, I missed 'em.
But I thought it was a very enjoyable, slightly absurd movie that worked really well.
I recently watched Nasferatu 2024, and thought Lavalantua was a LOT more entertaining!
It's funny, some tense moments, has a couple of jump scares, had effective enough FX, and a cute story.
The effects don't look like a multi-million dollar FX production, but they are adequate for the film, and the spiders are terrifically rendered.
I assign this one a solid 8 out of 10.
