Almost the entire picture is filmed with a Steadicam.
First film collaboration between director Felix van Cleeff and composer Floyd Raynor. They
went on to work together on Van Cleeff's film cycle 'River of Time'.
Mostly filmed with a wide-angle lens.
Even more so than in Van Cleeff's previous films, the shooting style of the movie
was freeform, as he was looking for performances that felt truthful and natural.
Most of the scenes were improvised, in a quest for the unexpected. As part of their
unorthodox and radical approach to cinematography Van Cleeff and Grupping eschewed
traditional camera setups in favor of a more fluid, wandering style in which the
camera freely and organically interacted with the actors during long takes, almost like a dancer, picking
up the kind of serendipitous moments that the filmmaker was looking for.
Most of the film is shot with natural light and takes place in outdoor settings (desert, the seaside).
Many of the scenes were filmed either during sunrise or sunset.
