Impressive that it even exists

With all of the self aware jabs at some of the worst trends in Hollywood filmmaking as well as a ridiculous amount of characters from different studios crossing over, it's a miracle that Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers exists in the current filmmaking landscape.

What makes it even better is that it's a great film that's impressively paced, funny and pretty heartwarming. A love letter to animation by including as many different forms of it as possible, including the more disturbing ones.

John Mulaney cleverly chooses to play it almost completely straight which really helps him bounce off Andy Samberg's energy and adorable naivety. Rounding out the main three is Kiki Layne, who is just as likeable and energetic.

Akiva Schaffer's direction is excellent, the film is definitely different to his previous work but he adapts perfectly. The visual effects are consistently strong and the practical and CG blends together nicely overall.

Oh Man! this was soooooo Hilarious!!!

I'm a man from the Duck Tales Generation so indeed I loved the idea of a reboot movie about Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers, but this was so much more. Somewhat a modern take on who Frame Rodger Rabbit, Chip N. Dale play out of work cartoon characters who have not been relevant snice the Disney Afternoon, who get back together in order to solve a real crime.

It's a satire on the whole animation business. Lucky for Disney, they have a large roster of animation to choose from. The long history of animation is explored as this new Chip and Dale don't just live in a world of 2D animation, but CGI, stop motion, even puppets interact with the humans here. We also get great cameos from other cartoon characters who add to the showbiz concept of sometimes you're on top with your movie on a billboard on the Sunset strip and sometimes you're not the main attraction at comic con. They left no stone unturned about what Geekdom is like today and every stone turned made me laugh out loud

I feel like Disney may have missed the mark on this one. In a world filled with geeks completely nostalgic over their childhood I feel this reboot of the Rescue Rangers could have made a decent dime at the box office. It just celebrated what the whole culture was about. Love it!

Funny Nostalgic Adventure

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is good. It is a really funny film with various cameos throughout the film. The plot itself isn't the most original, as I've seen it done before, but the dialogue between characters feels authentic and funny at the right times. I enjoyed this film.

Overall, 7/10.

Suprisingly good

IT'S NOT A REBOOT. IT'S A COMEBACK.

Andy Samberg & John Mulaney's "Chip n' Dale" movie for Disney+ is a movie that i have been looking forward to for a very long time, and tonight a finally got a chance to see it.

Chip n' Dale" Rescue Rangers is a very entertaining and funny movie, it was better than i excpected it to be and i had a great amount of fun watching it. It's a visually stunning movie with a suprisingly good and well written story, filled with lots of great humour and meta jokes (Disney suprisingly much self distance here).

Chip n' Dale is also a movie filled with cameos and nostalgia from my whole childhood, and that makes this movie very rewatchable. And im happy to do it.

Surprisingly entertaining

I love who framed roger rabbit it's one of my all time favs and I love how this film is like that. Not as mature as roger rabbit but it's still surprising entertaining. There jokes for kids and adults so both can enjoy it. At times the film is a little to Childish.

Almost hits the mark. Could have been great.

Things I liked: Some, I repeat, SOME fully hand-drawn animation that when mixed with live action reminded me of Looney Tunes Back in Action. A lot of it was mostly flat 2D with not a very high framecount and lacked depth (ie. Shadows and highlights). I wish the 2D was integrated into the real world more like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit which was made *ahem* 30+ years ago and all done physically, traditionally! There's no excuse with our technology that we can't do better.

Some of the humor- jokes and self-referential, hit for me. I was expecting it to be more hokey and was glad it see it had a slight edge.

The voices of chip and dale were whatever. And while first taken aback that they chose such a weird voice for Zipper, actually kind of found it funny that they chose such a low voice for a high-pitched fly cartoon character. Monterey Jack and Gadget sounded great.

The action was fun. The set design was fine. The self-referenced uncanny valley CGI was just that- and it was funny that they were lampooning that style.

Things I didn't like: Again, the 2D/3D character style (Chip, Monty, Gadget), unlike the full 3D, isn't given any in-universe explanation- just feels like a cut-corner that would've made the movie that much better had they committed to full 2D for all the 2D characters. And there were full 2D characters in this! Flounder, Roger Rabbit, etc.

Some of the acting from the human actors felt amateur-hour, but they weren't the focus so that's fine.

All in all I think it delivered what I expected and had it had a budget for a theatrical release I bet it could've been even better. That said I enjoyed it for what it was and would recommend if you like the characters.

A Terrific and Hilarious Spiritual Successor to Roger Rabbit- shame on Disney for not putting this one in theaters

With a phenomenal cast and incredibly funny and satirical script- Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers is a tremendously fun time and the best hybrid animated/live action flick since Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I have to come clean first, as I have never actually watched the original Rescue Rangers tv show, although I have always had a firm desire to do so at some point. Knowing little to nothing about the characters at hand besides there small presence in some classic Mickey Mouse cartoons- I still found myself to deeply enjoy this film for what it was, and loved its new take and incredible satire on the animation industry. First off, the cast is just amazing; John Mulaney, Andy Samberg, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, J. K. Simmons, Keegan Michael KEy, Eric Bana, Tim Robinson, and so many more- not to mention its written and directed by Akiva Schaffer of The Lonely Island- there is just so much to geek out about here. The script can go through some familiar elements at times, and it definitely is inspired by the likes of films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but definitely better than other films with that same copycat idea like Cool World or Monkeybone. Besides some basic bland formula structure, I enjoyed the humor of this film deeply- and loved the way they handled the references throughout- especially with Ugly Sonic and the numerous Seth Rogen characters which had me dying every time they were on screen. It also had a surprising amount of heart to it as well, and even made me tear up towards the end there, which I have to say I was not expecting from a film about two talking chipmunks. In the end, Chip 'n Dale may not be as perfect as Roger Rabbit but it's a wonderful and hilarious spiritual successor that I certainly wouldn't mind watching again and am disappointed to see go straight to streaming.

My Rating: 8.9/10.

Multi-Refencial-Meta-Fan-Service with Love

Surprised with the clever jokes and the attention to detail, the movie is just a Gift for the 90's children.

Amazing production, impossible to see without a smile on the face.

Started Fun

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022) started fun. A step above for many of the direct to streaming movies. However, the cameos grew tiresome quickly. Ugly Sonic was the best part of the film. Mixing of animation styles with live action is a step above most in the genre, though it also grows tiresome quickly and detracts from the plot. There is an uncomfortable parallel between plastic surgery and 3D surgery. The film is a promotion of Hollywood and consumer culture.

Many of the cameos and easter eggs are integrated in an unnatural and distracting manner. A step above for current Disney Plus films but falls short of being entertaining.

The film misses the point of everything Walt Disney stood for and focuses on crude jokes and consumeristic themes. A depressingly arrogant choice for Disney. If not for the animation and mystery plot, this film would not be worth watching. Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers (2022) is a promotion of Disney's films as well as Hollywood and not a celebration of them. It's an hour and a half long Disney Plus commercial.

surprisingly overrated

I never thought that a 3 stars rating would be on the lower end of the ratings for this movie. A lot of people love this movie for some reason maybe its because of the references which the movie actually uses them in a purposeful way that add to the plot. Again surprisingly the dialogue was pretty clever and hilarious were it was a very enjoyable watch whenever a joke was told. Unfortunately I can't say the plot was interesting, I didn't really care for what was happening to Chip or dale or anyone in the movie because the plot was generic and uninteresting for the most part and I barely connected with the characters which made the parts were there weren't jokes being told pretty boring. Honestly I don't regret seeing this but I won't be rewatching this anytime soon.

Reboot rangers.

'Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022)' is something of a small miracle. To call it the modern-day 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)' wouldn't be inaccurate, and not just because Roger Rabbit himself makes an early cameo appearance. It's a mix of live-action and a variety of animation styles, filled to the brim with characters from across a multitude of IPs. I have no idea how Disney managed to convince Universal, Paramount, 20th Century Fox (well, not so much them), Dreamworks, Warner Brothers and Sony to lend them their characters. Somehow, the movie avoids being a soulless effort to capitalise on the recent boom in fan culture. Instead, it subverts all expectations and is remarkably self-aware. It's an absolute blast when it gets going. Even though it technically is pandering to its audience, it doesn't feel like it is. It feels genuine right to its core, allowing even its most banal references and cameos (some of which turn out to be actual characters) to feel fresh and charming. It's a joyous, funny and well-achieved buddy cop comedy. It's utterly amazing that Disney let the filmmakers get away with most of this. I wish the studio would loosen up more often and give their creators more control. Sadly, they'll probably see the success of this and attempt to exert more control on the sequel now that it's a more successful IP, likely ruining it in the process. At least we'll always have this film as an example of what could happen if they loosened the reins every once in a while.

Rescue Rangers Return: Flop or Top?

Well the answer is definitely TOP. Very funny, colorful and full of cameos from the world of cinema. A lot of people have compared him to Roger Rabbit, but this film does not come in the least to Roger Rabbit. Chip 'N dale rescue rangers is a good movie, but not a masterpiece like the previous one mentioned. It has many flaws, starting from the plot that I think could have been developed a little better, and perhaps I would have preferred it with a little more seriousness. But overall, it is a highly recommended film.

It's not a reboot. It's a comeback

This is a great comeback for Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. Keep in mind that you don't have to watch the old show to watch this movie.

John Mulaney and Andy Samberg were great as Chip 'n Dale, they were both funny and had great chemistry with each other. The hand drawn animation and CG looked good on both of them.

J. K Simmons as a Claymation detective was cool seeing in how he was animated and was also funny. Will Arnett plays a interesting character and I won't spoil anything.

The different animation styles were cool, along with a bunch of cameos from other animated characters. There's a good plot that fits this kind of movie and makes fun of reboot movie clichés.

The action is fun and there are connections to the original Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers show that fans will get. The mystery was good and nice seeing the other members of the Rescue Rangers.

The movie was fun, funny, and is worth watching and re-watching. Fans of the show and people who haven't seen the show will like this movie.

Almost great

Incredibly fun first and second act with a rather boring and uninspired finale. Could be much better, but I still think it's a really good movie worth recommending. A cameofest and metacommentary done right.

Not for kids: for geeks

You would only appreciate this movie if you are a geek and an old millenial or an xennial who was a child in the 80's or early 90's. I mean technically kids can watch, too. But they wouldn't understand or appreciate any jokes in it. They would just enjoy for what it is.

Mash em up with cameos and humor.

3 out of 5 stars.

Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers is a fair family film that kids and adults will enjoy. The film is a reboot while it makes fun of reboots and bootlegged films. The characters are back and fun as ever. The plot is forgettable with a cliche detective conspiracy story. The direction moves at a fast paced throwing cameos. Lots of inside jokes and humor on media. And reboots. The cast and voice talent is good. The visuals are okay. May not be a memorable story. It does have some sense of fun.

Wish they'd just have stuck to the original cartoon format...

This movie isn't bad if you're an 80's or 90's kid like me, who grew up watching Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, and all that other good stuff, while it was airing on TV. It's chock full of cameos and references to the entire historical cartoon industry as a whole, not just Disney, so that's pretty awesome (I have no idea how they managed to cram so much of those in the movie, the legal team must have realy worked their asses off).

That said, I hate how Chip is his original cartoon self, while Dale is now CG, and looks...meh...I never liked how Disney switched from cartoons to animation back in the day to begin with. Their classic cartoons were amazing, while their new stuff doesn't come anywhere close. So, I wish they'd have just made the movie as a cartoon, but of course I didn't expect that. I do think they should have had Dale be his cartoon self as well though.

Most of all though, what really bothers me, is what they did to Chip and Dale's voices. I have no idea whose idea it was to completely change them (while leaving everyone else the same), but it' was a bad choice imo. Still, a good movie overall.

The villains

Of course Seth Rogan is a villain, just like in real life. He plays multiple characters and is just awful. The movie itself is entertaining. Although Peter Pan is a bit too like Bobby Discolls demise.

Unexpected but also unnecessary.

There is a lot is going on with this movie! It's crazy, fast-paced, and just kind of weird. As a movie for kids, it missed the target. As a movie for adults, some parts made me laugh. I definitely can't say it was terrible, but... it was just strange. Felt like a cartoon L. A. Confidential a little bit, and I'm not sure that's a good thing. I did appreciate how unique and unexpected everything was in this movie, but ultimately it lost me with its subject matter and jokes being way too bizarre for a kids' movie. Its surprising that this movie was even made and got the buzz that it did on release, so that's... something.
