Kung Fury [2015]
Genre: Insanely hilarious Action
Rating: 8/10 Review: So Bad , So Good !! Yes! This is the real "So Bad, So Good" movie (Y) The best Nonsense movie in a long time. Okay, before you read the review , please note. This movie has a typical / limited audience & fan base. That's why, you will either find a rating of 4/5 OR 1/5. You will "" Like it" OR "You Don't like it" Story: Kung Fury is about a kung fu cop from 1985 who goes back in time to fight Hitler and the Nazis. With a runtime of just 30mins, this is one hell of a ride with cheesy dialogues, over the top action, Retro music , Nazis-Vikings-Dinosaurs-David Hasslehoff all mixed in one epic screen, making each minute entertaining. Dedicated to the 80s style, I just went back in time.
It has everything as a reference: 1. Music & Background score: Electric drum with synthesizer & guitar :D 2. Action: Martial art movies , Japanese Animation, Video games, Jean-Claude Van Damme; Steven Seagal, Rambo ,.reference from the buddy cop movies (Super- Cop / Lethal Weapon)..etc It's an entirely reference oriented movie. Every scene is a homage to some other movie. You can see shades of Quinton Tarentino's dark humor & Grind house type gore everything is covered. But still, this movie is original & stands out! Yeah! Its that good.
David Sandberg: Writer , Director & Actor – Take a Bow! With a limited budget & technology, he has done a fantastic job. No wonder, in less than 24 hours, the film received over 3 million views on YouTube.
I was always waiting for this movie since 2013 & it succeeded to put a smile on my face which completely blew me with its awesomeness & Qtiyapa. Highly recommended. And,.. Thank you Thor! :)
**Just a thought – Kung Fury can be made into an 8-10 episode TV series. It will break all the records.

This is an epic movie. So epic it hurts. It is well produced and you can really feel that it's a genuine dream project of the creator. The pacing works brilliantly, the soundtrack fits perfect with the action and theme, and the special effects is really high class.
Awesome in everything and just simply a great ride! It has laser shooting dinosaurs, kung fu, Vikings with guns, time travel, a Norse god, Adolf Hitler as villain etcetera etcetera. It is plus size extra everything crammed into 30 minutes. It's like riding a roller-coaster of 80s entertainment with everything from street fighter style fighting to a 80s flying credits. Plus, the director/writer/lead actor David Sandberg is strikingly attractive and works really well as the star Kung Fury. Good looking and bad-ass – what more do you need?
You think this review is over the top? Well so is the movie. This movie turned me from a 30- something movie critic into a little fan boy.

Kung Fury is about a kung fu cop from 1985 who goes back in time to find Thor who then helps him go forward in time to fight Hitler and the Nazis. Does that make any sense? NO?! Good, now you're starting to get it. This is a collection of 80's clichés and culture but the dial was turned up to 11 and just broke.
You ever play Far Cry: Blood Dragon? These guys did, and it inspired them to make a short film. Its kind of like a love letter to the silliness of 1980's American culture with a Swedish twist. To put it this way, do you like the 80's? Do you like cheesy schlock? Do you like neon pink lights? If so, then this is definitely worth your time.

Kung Fury succeeds in what it's trying to do. Being a over-the-top homage to 80's action silliness.
I have heard it being said that it tries too hard, and it does try hard, but again, that is also sort of the point. With its short run time, almost every scene is a spectacle in some way.
Kung Fury is about a half hour long, and it's fortunate that it isn't longer, because that would have been triple overkill. It's the right length.
Not all the humor hit home with me, but I am a tough crowd, when it comes to humor. And I'm sure most people does think it is very funny.
Kung Fury has several really cool action sequences, and I really love the wonky style it is made in. You can clearly see that, I assume pretty much the whole movie, is green screen. It really fits. The effects are overall executed well, it's not WETA-quality, and it doesn't need to be, actually it probably shouldn't be. The style works very well.
Not going to say all that much. Bottom line is you can't go wrong with this one, nothing here is serious, and should it not be your cup of tea, it only lasts 30 minutes.
Big plus for one of the fighting sequences, made to look like it's one long take, (you'll know when you see it) it's like 300 meets Old Boy meets Mortal Kombat. It is without a doubt the single best thing in the whole movie. Truly awesome. More scenes like that one, and it would have scored higher with me.

Struck by lightning and bit by a cobra, an ordinary cop has a revelation which helps him master a new form of Kung Fu so powerful that only he, the chosen one, can learn. With his newfound powers, he will stop at nothing to bring justice to the crime-infested streets of Miami. No one could have predicted what was about to come his way, however, once he must embark on a dangerous adventure back through time to avenge a fallen friend.
Kung Fury not only put a permanent smile on my face throughout the entire movie, it completely blew me away and well exceeded my expectations. Writer/ director and lead actor David Sandberg may be the new kid on the block, but hell does he ever know how to make a debut! His character, who goes by the same name as the movie, is the perfect cross between Marty McFly, Steven Seagal, and a Ninja Turtle. But I think the film's biggest strength is that it never takes itself too seriously and remains self-aware of its hilarious and intentional cheese.
You know you're about to get on board for something special as soon as you see the perfectly dated vintage look of the main titles and hear the old-school soundtrack the movie sports. The ode to retro games and electronics alone is worth seeing for the epic blast of nostalgia! I can tell a lot of time and passion went into the making of this short indie film and couldn't be prouder to have been one of the original Kickstarter funders that helped this project take off.
What else can I say except Sandberg may have created the perfect recipe for awesome with this epically over-the-top homage to vintage action movies and the era of VHS tapes that any '80s kid could drool over!

¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesAs Sandberg could only afford one police uniform, he filmed the police precinct scene by shooting each extra separately and compositing them in the scene.
- PifiasAt 10:30 Hackerman tried to kinda convert equation E=m*c^2 to E=m*c^3 for hacking time. But in a line of his code he wrote "double e = Math.power( m*c , 2);" which calculates m^2*c^2, not m*c^2. However, this mistake is the reason why he hacked too much time.
