Green Bones

I'm filipino, I never watch filipino movies that much, but this gave me super emotional when I watch this with auntie and my cousin, this movie change my life!

The director is G. O. A. T this should be recognize in the hollywood shows, and also I love the filter cinematic it feel so alive. The script, actor, the story, music, and the emotional scenes.

It reminds me on the other movie but I don't remember that much but it is similar with this movie but the plot is different. I think it is Green Mile by tom hanks. Yeah it is same called "green" in the title that name it but different. I love it!!!

Green Bones isn't loud or flashy-but that's exactly what makes it unforgettable.

I'll be honest: I'm not the biggest fan of Filipino films. I often find them predictable or overly theatrical. But this one? Green Bones completely blindsided me. It's one of those rare films that doesn't beg for your attention-it earns it, quietly and powerfully.

The acting is, without exaggeration, stellar. Every performance feels grounded, raw, and deeply human. There's no unnecessary flair, no forced drama-just characters breathing through pain, memory, and unspoken grief. You don't just watch them-you feel them. It's the kind of ensemble that doesn't act for the camera; they exist within the world they've built.

What makes Green Bones truly stand out is its restraint. It doesn't spoon-feed the audience or wrap everything in neat conclusions. It leaves space-space to think, to ache, to reflect. There's poetry in its silences, and meaning in every frame. It trusts the viewer to connect the dots and feel the weight of the story in their own way.

For a film so understated, it delivers a gut punch that lingers long after the credits roll. This is not just an underrated Filipino movie-it's an overlooked gem in global cinema.

Green Bones deserves more eyes, more praise, and most of all, more conversations. I'm genuinely grateful I gave it a chance.

Green Bones is a movie that used the classic western movie elements and melded the core Filipino movie-making to demonstrate the movie's intention to declare its conviction on corruption and injustice. In addition, it did not stray away from the usual theme of Filipino movies - which is love and familial love - in return, makes this movie a true Filipino classic.

The use of cinematography to show the classic movie themes and to show the character's intentions is compelling. It guides the audience to a proper storytelling which enriches the scenes created. The movie has the intention of producing an art with film as a medium instead of just making one to make money, especially during MMFF. It did not feel predictable to me because my initial predictions actually did not happen and I did not anticipate the climax to happen that way. The movie also took care of each character very well. It dissected each character's purpose in the narrative and it gave us a reason to either root for or hate the character.

The setting of the movie is beautiful. Not just the location but how each location is used to convey the story and the destiny of the characters involved in the scene. The use of props, my goodness, is excellent. Every prop used is intentional and it gave the audience tangibility of the story instead of just watching it from the screen.

What I also enjoy about this movie is it tackles the current criminal justice corruption happening in the Philippines but it is not on the nose and gross. It took a slice of the issue and unfolded a nuanced story of how it can affect many lives both in good (yet, sad) and bad ways.

My only very critical criticism of the movie is how the climax unfolded. It seemed rushed and probably a couple of deleted scenes about a couple of characters might have hashed this issue a bit more. But yet again, climax of movies are supposed to feel this way to provoke strong feelings.

Overall, this movie is excellent. 9.5/10 objectively but 10/10 for me.

The overall plot is straightforward but excellent execution. Great performances from the actors, you can feel the characters' motivations and their reasoning, the screenplay was well-written and smart, twistingn and playing with the dialogs without confusing the audience, the cinematography was balanced and perfect to each scenario that was happening in the film, the places where it was shot were breath-taking, the direction showed so much juxtaposition that it provided a clear message. It is a movie that deserves the praises and recognition it garnered as it will be remembered one of the best movies in the modern digital age of the Philippines. I hope this movie makes it way internationally as it needs to be shown more.

Great story..great acting .. so well done. You deserve all the awards. I hope more movies like this quality will be made more in the Philippines. All the actors no matter how small their roles are made a mark. Special mention to Ruru and Dennis. This movie made me cry. It has a lot of heart, you can feel Ruru's emotions transitioning, you can feel Dennis character evolving .

Beautiful shots, cinematography. Overall a great movie. I'm glad that it is in Netflix I hope people can watch it and witness such good craftsmanship. I never write reviews but this movie made me write one to celebrate and give credit to everyone involved in the film.
