This show is heartbreaking but simultaneously heartwarming at the same time. I can't remember the last time a TV series (if ever!) has moved to tears, to then have me grinning from ear to ear a few moments later. I've absolutely fallen in love with this show. I rarely ever leave reviews (I'm not the best writer to be honest) unless I feel like something has had a profound impact on me, like this show has. I started it on chance, without having a clue what it was about or seeing any trailers for it & I'm so glad I did. It is beautifully written, the way it delves into a characters past moments, slowly unveiling their stories while also leaving some mystery around them is just masterful. The on screen chemistry between the lead actress Suzanne & Mortimer is one I've not seen for a long time. The way they both slowly open up to each other so heart warming & captivating, it really has you routing for them both. There are so many scenes I'm genuinely smiling & laughing along, this is what television is all about isn't it? A must watch!
I just finished watching the first six episodes of Empathie over two evenings and am waiting impatiently for the seventh episode. I am originally from Montreal and always look forward with nostagia and longing to enjoying french speaking shows and movies filmed in my home town. I hadn't heard of this show and did not see any reviews, so I took a chance and began watching the first episode... I won't reveal any spoilers, but must say this is show ranks as one of the best I have seen in a very long time... an honest and very raw portrayal of humans and their sufferings delivered with warmth and empathy. Amazing writing, directing and a brilliant cast. Merci!
That's definitely one of the most outstanding shows of the Year. The team behind it must be really talented to make it work that way where every actor and character as well as all of the shots interacts with you like no other modern shows and triggers you such a broad pallete of the feelings from very deep sadness to the brightest feeling of happiness.
Straight to the point if you are allergic to slow burns and dramas when you have to think, just don't Watch it. As for myself, i Watch varios genres including gummy comedies and actions but I am also addicted to indie dramas which is closer here and I truly believe it is the greatest show of the year.

To CRAVE, Florence Longpré and the entire production team of the EMPATHIE series.
Empathie is by far the BEST TV series ever produced in Canada. Period.
This series is brilliant, touching, funny, dramatic, upsetting and intelligent.
Everything is perfect: script, dialogues, editing, photography, etc.
And what about the casting? We should name all the actors and actresses of the series so much they are exceptional.
Starting with Florence Longpré (Dr. Bien-Aimé, also author of the series) who probably signs here the role of her life.
My absolute favorite: Benoit Brière. It should not be repeated, but his interpretation of the patient Jacques Dallaire caused the screen of my big Mac to turn into Niagara Falls. An unforgettable performance.
This series must ABSOLUTELY be broadcast internationally. EMPATHIE is the perfect example of the high quality of French Canadian television.

Empathie is without a doubt one of the best Québécois series I've ever seen. I would easily compare it to 19-2... but honestly, it's even a notch above.
The musical choices are brilliant, the cinematography is stunning, the acting is remarkably genuine, and the writing is excellent. The directing deserves special mention - this level of quality is rare, even in film. All the ingredients come together perfectly, executed with outstanding precision.
Emotionally, it's a rollercoaster: from out-loud laughter to heartfelt tears, and everything in between. And the acting... where have these talents been hiding all these years?
Florence Longpré is a true revelation. Over the 10 episodes, she delivers an incredibly intense and sincere performance. And what about Benoît Brière? His scene with Longpré in episode 3 might just be one of the finest moments in Québec television history.
The entire cast pulls us into their world with authenticity and depth. You grow attached to every one of them. It's moving, powerful, and deeply human.
Treat yourself to this gem of Québécois television. You won't regret it.
