“Ask God why, I didn’t get an answer/Why I lose my brother to bullets/Why I lose my grandma to cancer,” Offset harmonizes on “Say My Grace.” Few could have imagined that the Atlanta artist who emerged as one-third of Migos a decade ago with “Versace,” reintroducing the concept of a rap group to the Zoomer generation, would settle uncomfortably into the role of husband to pop icon Cardi B, and become a target of internet gossip so pernicious that the phrase “Offset cheating” elicits thousands of Google search results dating back years.

Since mid-2022, heavy news and speculation have followed Offset. Rumblings of tension among his rap group Migos began when Quavo and Takeoff set off as a duo that May and continued even after Takeoff was tragically murdered last November. In recent months, things began to look lighter: He and Quavo reunited for a tribute to Takeoff at the BET Awards in June; in July, he dropped “Jealousy,” a jolting single with his wife, Cardi B, and released a cinematic self-directed video along with it; and in September, he joined Twitch...

Offset has recruited a slate of collaborators for his forthcoming album Set It Off, scheduled for release on Oct. 13. The 21-track record will feature appearances from Travis Scott, Cardi B, Don Toliver, Future, and more.

Cardi B appeared on the previously released single “Jealousy,” which arrived in July. But the rap couple also teamed up for “Freaky,” another song on the record that appears early on the tracklist. Latto, Mango Foo, Young Nudy, and Chlöe also appear on the album, rounding out a mix of old and new collaborators.

HBO has acquired the award-winning short film Chico Virtual and will be streaming the Jaden Michael-led flick on Max starting September 18.

Variety reports that the short film was acquired after Chico Virtual after already winning a number of awards, including both the Best Drama and Audience Awards from the International Chicago Film Festival's CineYouth program, along with winning the 2022 HBO Max Latino Short Film Competition. Produced by Ori Chevio and Tom Sidi, Chico Virtual tells the story of a young boy struggling to come to terms with his identity as an undocumented immigrant while daydreaming about the day his hard work will pay off and make him an online sensation.
