I honestly can't understand people moaning about House of Ashur. Are they the same fan of the original Spartacus? Probably not.
If you claim yourself as such, you can't rate it 1/10. It's not a honest rate.
Personally, I don't like some characters because they look caricatures, although this also happened with the previous seasons. The show can be surely improved but the core stands good enough.

Dead on arrival - entirely unbelievable as a previously beheaded Ashur comes back to life. Spartacus: House of Ashur feels like a desperate attempt to wring drama from a character whose story ended definitively - sword swing and all. The show leans into over-the-top resurrection logic, swapping the gritty realism and moral ambiguity of the original Spartacus for fan-service fan fiction vibes.
Visually, it still delivers the trademark stylized carnage, gore and full frontal nudity, but the writing veers into parody. Ashur's newfound quest for vengeance plays more like a comic-book villain's revival arc than a continuation of a grounded historical epic. Performances try to sell the concept, yet they can't overcome a premise that undermines the very finale the series once nailed.
A flashy, hollow spin-off that mistakes shock value for storytelling - House of Ashur resurrects a fan favorite only to bury the franchise's credibility in his place. Saved only by gratuitous sex and violence.

I don't understand why so many people are angry, even hating this series. I'm a huge fan of ancient rome and the Spartacus series from seasons 1 to 4. I even watched it all three times.
When the teaser for House of Ashur appeared, I was honestly a bit confused as to why Ashur was chosen as the series' successor and a bit skeptical.
After 5 episodes, I have to admit I'm quite entertained by the return of this series.
The film's tone, lighting, set decorations, costumes and makeup are similar to the original series. Of course, it won't beat the original but the plot is there, the intrigue is there, the fights are there, and even their signature sex scenes are there.
Can you guys just watch this series without over analyzing it?
Just enjoy the movie!
Be glad they are still making series about ancient rome theme. They're rare these days.

I really liked the original Spartacus series and I am glad they returned to that universe with House of Ashur. At first I was skeptical of the "what it" premise -the first episode starts a bit shaky while they are establishing this new timeline, but it gets much better afterwards. While not as good (at least so far) as the OG Spartacus story, this series is very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
Obviously the premise of « what if » passed, it's actually very enjoyable as entertainment.
That is the major difference from the original series which was based on real events, so this one you should not for a second take it for a historical series and just envoy the spectacle.
So many people claim the main character is a woman... did they watch the show? Ashur the Syrian is the main character and you still enjoy to hate him as much as before...

¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesShowrunner Steven S. DeKnight revealed that multiple seasons of the show have been mapped out and that "about four or five" potential Spartacus spin-offs are also in the works, all depending on whether House of Ashur is a success.
