Night harvest is an actual decent b movie. The acting is nothing to write home about and Id say the strongest part of this film is the design of the scare crow, our main villian. The pumpkin head is pretty creepy its just a shame the kills weren't better as they were sort of lame and led me to want more. The main characters are stupid they all kind of just fall down and dont try and run when the scarecrow comes for them and they don't even atempt to fight back. Nathan having pyrocanises was an interesting touch but I just wish the power was utilized more in the plot and there should have been a battle between the two. Ovrall still a decent b horror film which is enjoyable for what it is.

Traveling through rural Tennessee, a group of friends run afoul of a corrupt group of racist cops looking for one of their own who has bizarre pyrokinetic powers, which drives them into the holding ground for a special killer patrolling the area and they have to get away alive.

This was a rather decent if somewhat problematic genre effort. One of the finer features here is the fun inclusion of this, managing to bring together a straightforward slasher film with a more supernatural bent than expected. The main backstory of the town and their racist history involving the disturbing attitude toward the one member of the town, their treatment of him, and the eventual scenario that leaves his tortured and tormented body alive in the cornfields with a pumpkin for a head gives this a solid base for a returning killer protecting his territory. The secondary storyline involving the group of friends trying to help their friend deal with the deadly powers her brother has, which will bring about a series of intense government scrutiny if they find out what he can do, so the need to keep him safe brings them both together when the accident strands them in town. These are both fun enough that there's a strong sense of fun to be had with the inclusion of the two storylines, where the psychotic killer interacts with the group while the one tries to use their powers to protect everyone, making for a fun time which comes about in the form of some solid stalking scenes with the figure getting a chance to let loose. The first big sequence involving the group of travelers who get stuck in the nearby cornfields and find the bizarre killer appearing from among the rows to use the sharpened tools to slice them to pieces. While cheesy, the graphic gore helps this come together rather nicely, much like the later scene where it comes about a couple in the barn that soon emerges as a fun, high-end chase scene. The big chase scene in the farm leads out into a secondary encounter on the lands where it finds a second couple unaware of everything and takes them out as well leading into the thrilling finale where the multitude of encounters and confrontations trying to stop it point to a fantastic sequence offering the main means of putting an end to the killer once and for all. It's all intriguing enough and manages to bring about enough gore to be immensely enjoyable despite there being a few flaws here to hold it back. The main drawback here is that the first half spends quite a bit of time on the family relationships and different interactions between everyone that there's a sense of boredom that comes along before anything happens. With a lot of this aided along by the racist treatment they receive which does get brought full circle with some of the interactions at the finale, there's a rather bland setup that takes a while to get going so that the second half tends to zip through the rampage due to the short running time not letting it breathe all that well. That goes hand-in-hand with the generally cheap and flimsy budget, where it's hard to overcome those issues with everything here being pretty clear throughout in terms of its story, presentation, and general production, in addition to other factors, all holding this one down enough.
