Overall, a very unique movie that uses sharp technicals, especially editing and cinematography, and fast-paced direction to create an engaging thriller as we see the same story told in three different perspectives.
Pretty Good to Good Direction (The direction on a macroscale is good to very good as he has a distinct fast-paced style that helps make this movie feel sharp and well executed (especially in the action-based scenes); the direction on a microscale is not the best as the performances felt a bit rigid, but you did get a sense of what the personal conflicts for the characters are; the storytelling is pretty unique as it is fast-paced, action-packed, and filled with a lot of action to make the movie feel like a thrill-ride; he builds tension well through the action-based scenes), Decent Acting (Decent to Pretty Good from Eve Connolly (Not given a lot in terms of dialogue, but she carries out the character well through her mannerisms and holds her own in the action-packed scenes), Decent from Calum Worthy, Pretty Bad to Decent from John Lynch (Is fine as a villain but there are noticeable moments where there is a lack of chemistry between him and the rest of the cast), Pretty Bad to Decent from K Callan (Feels just a bit out of place), Decent from the rest of the cast (Just minor characters)), Pretty Good to Good Story (The concept is unique as it visits the conflict in three different scenarios, and it does a good job at making the scenes feel fast-paced and filled with action; the plot structure is very overt as the movie is structured out into three different vignettes; the flow between sequences is decent, but the flow between storylines is a bit forced; the character writing is pretty void), Pretty Bad Screenplay (The dialogue is pretty bland and rigid as it doesn't feel natural, and it is pretty overt in some places; the symbolism is somewhat present (but not a key point for the movie); the foreshadowing is somewhat there (but the movie is just 3 vignettes from multiple angles)), Good to Very Good Cinematography (Really helped show how fast-paced the movie/editing was; used well in the action-based scenes (especially with the fast cuts)), Very Good Editing (The editing style is very fast-paced, borderline emulating Hip-Hop montages, as this helps build tension and make the thriller very engaging), Good Sound (Feels crisp and aids the action-scenes), Good Visual Effects, Pacing is pretty fast as it goes through 3 different scenarios (but this was intentional as the editing style helped make it more of a thriller), Climax in each of the three scenarios is carried out well and shows what would happen if the story played out that way, Tone is very similar to other action-thrillers (sometimes even feeling like a shootout movie like John Wick), Saw the world premiere at SXSW.

I initially expected a concise story but the film proved to be longer due to its inclusion of an alternate ending. What makes it interesting is that it has some other endings, consequences for what she does and she says "choices, choices, choices." It shows what happens if she does it or doesn't do it. The atmosphere of the place where the film was made is very beautiful, way I see the surroundings are quite comfortable with the vibe of the environmental sounds are also comfortable to hear. The film skillfully blends elements of survival and subtle humor, achieving a well balanced tone and creative when they use impossible ideas because it may be a little illogical but yes I really like it. The casting choices for this film were highly effective, with several recognizable actors delivering performances that perfectly complemented the story. I recommend it to everyone who hasn't watched it. This is very worth spending your free time with popcorn.

Before reviewing this movie I just need to say something about another reviewer, curtispeace, that scored this movie with a two after only watching a couple of minutes of this movie. How can anybody take you seriously? Rating a movie you didn't event watch, why would you waste your time and most importantly our time at writing a review that will take you longer than the time you actually spent on watching the movie? It's beyond ridiculous. I will never understand why negative people have to bash something just to get attention. That said I watched the movie until the end, like I do with all the movies by the way, bad or good. The cinematography was the best thing about Sew Torn, interesting shots for the entire movie. The acting wasn't bad either. The story on the other hand has to be taken not too seriously as every scenario, there are like three, is too ridiculous for words. But it's watchable because of all the other positive things mentioned before.

An enjoyable off-beat movie. Without giving anything away it's a multiple possibilities story. I had a bit of trouble with the director's choices at times but otherwise it maintained a quick pace with interesting action. All the actors do a nice job but Connolly clearly stands out. Though she doesn't appear to have a huge body of work she clearly knows what she is doing. Despite not having a huge amount of dialogue she expresses her thoughts well. She is very engaging and I hope we see more of her.
If you get a chance to see it go for it, you won't be disappointed. It's one of those movies that works well for it's type.

I liked the film.
It was original and slightly different, which was refreshing. The story was predictable at points (most points), but I was left questioning where it was going for the first portion of the film.
Actors and actresses were all very decent, enjoyed the lead actress despite never having heard of her or seen her in film before.
The filming style of the film was nice and at times exaggerated the small/quaint town feeling. However, the lack of extras at times made it feel very eery and a bit too quiet.
Loved the ending of the film and the fact the film told several different stories.

I made it a few minutes into this movie and that's all I could take!, this movie is too cute by half, honestly?, it's zero cute, oh it's not supposed to be cute?, what I mean is it's not serious from the beginning, there's no character buildup or background, just a seamstress I assume, where it goes from there is just nonsensical, elaborate nonsense!, maybe it could have been a good movie?, I'm not really sure about that, because right from the beginning you sort of know what's happening as is described in the movie's description, nevertheless, it's just over the top, no one could think of such elaborate kookery, oh yeah except some cutesy movie writer, do yourself a favor and skip this okay?, trust me.

ABSOLUTELY worth watching!
Sew Torn is an intelligent, masterfully crafted film that combines the best of both worlds-a high-quality action/thriller with the spirit and class of a true indie gem.
I first saw the short film that led to the feature and was blown away by the beautifully developed story. This movie keeps its audience guessing until the very end while providing just enough revelations to leave you satisfied. I've been searching for an original movie that keeps both the story and characters at its core for a long time, and I'm thrilled to have found that in Sew Torn.
Freddy Macdonald's exceptional direction shines through the performances and the precision of every meticulously crafted frame. Each shot feels like a work of art, uniquely painted and indispensable. It's rare in today's fast-paced, and often "cookie-cutter", movie industry to see such attention to detail.
Sew Torn is a breath of fresh air-engaging, thought-provoking, and immensely entertaining. The question, "What path would you choose?" has lingered with me ever since watching.
I wholeheartedly recommend this film to fans of thrillers, mysteries, action, and indie cinema. And if you love Coen Brothers movies? Sew Torn is a must-watch!

...if I want to be rigurous (I like giving my honest opinion), some things are off, and I think they could have been presented in a different way.
I should start by saying that I enjoyed the film. Nevertheless, I have to point out that some poeple overact, others underact, and the rest are just there filling gaps in the set... Also, I have to admit that I did not quite know what was heppning until half of the "second act" (so to speak). This is a compliment to the writers.
What I don't like is that although the story is totally belieavable and easy to put in context, some of the situtions whithin the scenes are just out of place... in a belieavable scenery, some interactions are totally surreal and would, for sure, entail a very different development, or outcome.
You either make a fable or a portrait, meaning, it's fiction or fact, but mixing both, rarely ends well...
I did not know any of the actors/actresses, and I hope this doesn't disqualify me as a movie buff (I went over their careers and saw nothing I knew... I apologize for my ignorance), and, apart from the main character, who is extremely expressive and intense, the other are just there, stop.
Watch it, it's worth it, but it could have been better.

It was original but I didn't enjoy it; offbeat to the point of being static. Fans of intricate problem solving by way of needle and thread will love it.
I realise my reviews are not allowed to be as succinct as I would like, due to imdb's minimum length requirement...
Please ignore the following waffle that attempts to fill the remaining required characters, while acknowledging that reviews can perhaps be just as effective with fewer words. Really, I should use needle and thread contraption to type this, though I fear that may be interpretted as critique of the movie rather than placeholder.

This has been so much fun - incredibly original and nicely executed to the detail. If you like a twisty, fun thriller then this is for you!
The director Freddy Macdonald certainly is someone who'll have a big career, as is the lead actress Eve Connolly. The setting in the Swiss Alps is both intriguing and unusual. A drug deal gone bad in a remote location, where every decision leads to bloody (and funny) consequences. Seeing its score on Rotten Tomatoes (it's 100%!), I don't doubt that Sew Torn will make a splash when it's released. I can't wait for this to hit the theaters so I can go watch it again with my friends. Highly recommend!

Starts out interestingly enough but then with the retelling of the 'choices' there are huge swathes of film that are entirely duplicated - like 25 minutes-worth or more in one piece. It makes the film ball-achingly slow-paced. The lead character's constant quizzical/deep-thought staring into space is also highly irritating. No humour in it either - and why are there so many people with American accents living in what appears to be a virtually deserted Swiss hamlet. If you like long-drawn out, twee, repetitive, thoroughly unbelievable story-lines, this is for you! Not me that's for sure, I'd rather watch somebody embroider a towel.

Very original story, great acting and an exciting cinematography. Highly recommend! The Swiss scenery is just stunning. Whoever came up with the ideas of threads (an integral part of the story, but you have to see it for yourself) is one creative fellow! What would you do if you came across a drug deal gone bad? That is the main protagonist Barbara's lifechanging task. Another perk of the movie are the two female supporting characters: a middle-aged bride and a cop long past the regular retirement age. You're in for some laughs with these ones! I can't wait to see what's coming next from this creative film team!

With this clever film, young director Freddy Macdonald delivers an astonishing feature debut. Everything seems to work in this piece, from strong cast performances to an insane level of detail regarding the resourceful thread skills of Barbara, the main protagonist. As she encounters a botched drug deal and has to decide what to do, we follow her on paths that lead to different outcomes. The brilliant script by father-son duo Freddy and Fred Macdonald, beautiful cinematography by Sebastian Klinger and overall superb production design make for a fun, entertaining ride that keeps you engaged throughout its 90+ minute runtime. Eve Connolly, the lead actor, is definitely someone worth watching out for.

This film was such a blast to watch! The perfect mix of art and entertainment. Sew Torn feels like a bittersweet lava cake: It's crunchy on the outside , but with a sweet soft core. Freddy MacDonald found the perfect recipe for a film that is comedic as much as thrilling. That's a hard combo and I'm excited to see some more upcoming work of this talented filmmaker, succeeding in a genre alla "Coen Brothers" .
The international feeling of the film gives the story and the characters their own charme.
I'm excited to see more work of the MacDonald duo and I'll recommend this film to anyone who loves exciting cinema with incredibly smart storytelling.
