Too filmy that hardly connects you emotionally

Aerial action movies are being explored by filmmakers recently, and it's not easy to execute them as they require high budgets and extensive research.

This movie depicts an aerial attack that India has never faced before, and our decorated officers must give their all to save the nation from catastrophe.

We have seen many stories in this vein, mostly centered on the Indian army. As a result, the story lacks uniqueness. Even the use of real-time incidents or sequences is not well established, making everything seem too fictional. There are multiple sequences that are absurd and funny, as even a common person can tell that the IAF doesn't operate the way it is portrayed.

Varun Tej, as the central lead, has the persona to carry such roles, but his limited expressions dampen the whole viewing experience. The same goes for the leading lady, Manushi Chillar, who looks beautiful but needs to work on her acting chops. Their chemistry also does not work in their favor.

The graphics are amateurish, and you can tell that people have acted in front of a green screen, though a few scenes in the sky are brilliant and well-captured. Movies like this should evoke a patriotic feeling, but this one does not, as you know you are watching a fictional tale. In one scene, a missile lands in a terrorist camp with the text 'Happy Valentine's Day' on it. This shows how much the filmmakers got carried away.

Cinematic liberties are fine, but they should elevate the experience, not make you laugh at its absurdity. The dialogues are good, though, and pack a punch. Credit can be given for trying something new, but it turned out to be a below-average affair.

Avoid at all costs

Highly disappointed with the movie. It has bad graphics (which is normal in the Telugu industry), terrible dialogues, and a very forgettable storyline.

There are no gripping scenes. The movie tries to mix Hollywood style shots with an Indian storyline, and resulted in absolute disaster. The acting of the cast was very artificial, and added zero emotion to the movie.

The storyline of the movie is a very generic storyline, involving terrorists and the Indian Air Force. Moreover, the poor storyline makes the movie so boring, I slept halfway in the middle.

Overall, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME in watching this movie. There are better movies than this.

Lame Monotonous Concept

The plot meandered aimlessly, relying on tired tropes and predictable plot points. The opening scene, while attempting to be explosive, felt rushed and lacked the necessary punch to set the stage for a thrilling adventure. Attempts at humour landed flat, and the supposed emotional moments felt unearned. The "big reveal" near the end felt like a desperate attempt to inject some excitement into a narrative that had long lost its momentum. The cardboard-cutout characters felt like rejects from a discount romantic comedy bin. Come on guys, we all know the tea was fantastic. Can we please stop making propaganda movies with low budget VFX? The concept is getting old and monotonous.

Interesting military/heroism/top-gun-ish film

Firstly, I don't watch films purely using Hollywood features as a benchmark. Every country, culture, possess their own angles and approaches toward visual story telling. For a military/heroism type of film, this is a non-hollywood one that I find entertaining, and without sourcing for information regarding their production value, I can see it is done with the budget that is sensible to the Indian filmmakers.

There's nothing 'wrong' with the story/plot of this film, the premise is fine. Though, the dialogue/scenes can take a little more work, to make it more sophisticated - however it isn't that bad or 'cringy' like various films that I have seen - including big budgeted ones from Hollywood.

The VFX, and depiction of the aircraft are good enough to not make it look 'dodgy'. I believed the types of fighter jets, i.e. The Mirages, the MIGs, depicted are accurate with reference to India Air Force.

As a non-Indian, I am aware of the trend in Indian films (aka 'Bollywood' in my side of the world) to include pop or dance music. The featured music/songs are quite decent to me - melodiously. I wouldn't mind listening to them again, even though I don't understand the language.

The acting style of the actors is, in my opinion, culturally Indian. Just like in Japanese films which the Japanese actors' style is culturally tied to Japanese behavior and way their of life. I'm fine with it.

As a whole, this film is entertaining to me. However, if you are looking for Hollywood style/grade type of films, then don't bother watching this or any other films from other countries. This film will cater to those who want some action/military type entertainment, some interest in military hardware, perhaps over a relaxing weekend.

Horrible movie

Such a horrible movie and my eyes pain to see such horrible VFX. It felt like watching pubg. Even if the movie was based on true events, they could have spent money on VFX. Acting also looks so fake. Its like you get bored watching the opening scene itself and then the movie no thrill and does not even connect with emotions. It lacked a lot of things tbh. Fighter is way better than this because the VFX is great even if the movie lacked true events. Tbh, i would not recommend this movie to anyone because the movie is not entertaining. I have seen a lot of movies which are based on true events..

Good movie...tbh much more technicalities shown as compared to Fighter

I should start the review by mentioning that hats off to the team for making this movie in such a tight budget . Much more technicalities shown in this film as compared to Fighter. Also to add , Varun Tej and Manushi were great , along with this actor bhatt also did a great job. SAMs , AWACS , ANTI RADIATION MISSLES , BOMBER , RADAR , Sukhoi , F-16 , Mirage , Mig and much more. I am surely impressed. Well done team.

Now for those who are comparing this with Top Gun or Maverick ...just give these directors half a budget of what they get to produce a movie and then compare. The graphics shouldn't be compared at all , after all they were shot truly airborne while these are Vfx so please.

Decent movie, watchable

Film loosely based on true events, and fairly Owen as story. If you want to watch, watch without any expectations. Visuals are fairly good. Actors did a fair good job. And story was smoothly executed without much twists. From beginning to end the movie executed smoothly. Director didn't tried to over exaggerate the situations which would have made movie complicate. The story directly jumps into story without much delay. Which is a good one otherwise it would have made story boring. The technicals are good. So if you are bored it's a fair good try to watch movie which would not disappoint much.

Tollywood's failed attempt at copying

Tried to be fighter. But went on to became Tejas.

Poor VFX, no punch in moments, no emotions in acting too.

When you are making a commercial movie on aerial action.. should keep the VFX top notch. Also the what a stupid plot at the end of Pakistan bombing nehru tunnel. Such a slow climax with no real feel.

Tollywood should know that slow motion movies are cringe now. Also what a expressions less acting by both the lead actors. Either make a documentary or make commercial cinema. But sadly its neither a documentary nor a commercial movie. I Was yawning at climax scenes , nothing was happening.

Correct representation which makes it entertaining.

Anyone who knows the technical details and exact events that happened in real life, will appreciate this movie. This movie correctly depicts almost everything that happened in the Balakot air strike.

Comparing this to "Fighter" movie which was made with 5x times more budget than Operation Valentine got almost every detail wrong. "Fighter" movie over powered the enemy and under powered the protagonist, not only that they got all Fighter Jets used in the operation wrong. They added dance numbers and made it a commercial movie, which is why it did more numbers.

"Operation Valentine" on the other hand correctly depicted almost all variants of fighter jets used in the operation, along with getting all events true to real life. To Finish off, It doesn't just get the technical details right, it is also a good entertainer. But if you're looking for dance numbers, you should look elsewhere. I could only imagine what they could've done with a budget similar to big budget movies.

Decent Film with Good Arial Action

Based on a true story "Operation Valentine" is a decent aerial action drama based on the 2019 Pulwama terrorist attack and the Indian Air Force's retaliatory Balakot Air Strikes. What is refreshing compared to Yodha is that Operation Valentine does not show Pakistani Air Force to be dumbos. Personally, I found the visual effects and cinematography to be fairly descent, especially the aerial dog fights. First half is a bit slow, but the second half picks up and visually exceeds expectations.

There are comparisons being drawn to Fighter and hence the average lower rating but personally I found the film to be a lighter and more realistic version of Fighter and better than Agnipankh, the film is fun to watch. Not sure about the Telegu version (there are mixed reviews) but the Hindi version had decent dialogues. Deepika no doubt is much better than Ruhani who is wooden. With a 5x times more budget the VFX is much better in Fighter, however as usual as a Bollywood blockbuster Fighter concentrates a lot on song and dance and hardly has any Airforce Training Sorties or simulations. In fact all the fighter jets used in the actual mission were portrayed wrongly in Fighter. As an Defence and AF enthusiast, I loved the Air Force training aspects of Operation Valentine. Hrithik Roshan is showing his age whereas Varun Tej looks the part. The Script was average for both.

Worst Remake of Top Gun

Wahiyat Copy of Top Gun... Dialogues are pathetic so is the acting. Totally waste of Time. South Indian movies are renowned for good Movies and Graphics but this movies fail in all. The Main actor is not good and his acting is forgettable. Bhai ese movie banae he kyu hai jab logic se lene Dena he nhe kuch...Pulwama attack ki cheap copy hai ....Should be avoided at all cost .Some cockpit conversation are like they are sitting in drawing room of there home .Never expected such cheap from south Indian movies industry. It would have been a great movie but fails in all aspects .Fighter is far better.

Patriotic Intent, But Far from Real Ground

Operation Valentine tries to deliver a high-energy patriotic film but somewhere loses grip on reality. The movie clearly wants to reflect India's real-life surgical strikes and the heroism of our Air Force, but the execution feels quite filmy and far from how things actually happen.

The lead actor gives a strong performance, and Manushi Chhillar is graceful and composed in her role. The emotional weight is there, especially in the parts inspired by Wing Commander Abhinandan, which are done with heart.

However, the screenplay follows a familiar pattern we've seen in many recent war dramas. Once again, we see an Indian officer not following commands but somehow being the bravest - this cliché is getting repetitive and takes away from the realism. At times, the story drags, especially in the buildup portions, making it feel slow and stretched.

That said, the film does carry a patriotic touch and makes a decent one-time watch. Just don't expect anything new or highly realistic.

Worst Direction Ever

Direction worst Acting zero

I have never seen such pathetic movie on this topic. They have actually made a joke. I am stunned.

I started the movie with zero expectations considering the cast and director but it turned out as pathetic experience.

I am furious to see such a week narration of such a sensitive incident.

The directors should get punishment after making such movie. Clueless direction, the director didn't even know what he was making. It's a big time waste. Absolute disaster. It's a nightmare to watch. Both actors of this movie should not act , because they can't.

I have given 2 just because the emotional aspect little bit they were able to present.

Pakistan Air force must be using this as a comedy for their people 😊

Guess approx 20m into the movie in a briefing session, one of the fighter pilots asks if we can dodge a incoming missile at the last moment just like it's shown in movies.

I just cannot believe that this line was actually allowed. For a moment I wondered whether the movie was made in Pakistan 😡😡😡

Really????? How low can you go. The. I realised this is a Telugu industry production and that industry doesn't think much of the audience - if not sure see any of their movies. You will quickly know what a dud you are.

This is a movie you mustn't watch. I stopped right there after that dialogue. Not the mention the previous 19m were as bad. The VFX which many commented glowingly about looked like toys. It's horribly bad.

Oh God. Why🤷

Pleasant surprise

Did go to the movie without knowing the story. It started slow but the pace picked up slowly. By interval, you are in the edge of your seat. The direction, acting, music and VFX were just in enough dose. Congrats to the entire team for making this movie. Though the star cast is not well known, they have pulled it off nicely. Definitely a good watch for the weekend. I didn't expect the VFX. To be so good. It really elevated the aerial fight scenes. Almost to the Hollywood standards. Screenplay had played a very good part to keep the flow. No unnecessary songs that kept the movie going. Finally, the photography did great justice to the gorgeous locations in kashmir.

Fantastic movie

Much underrated movie, all criticism is just to undermine the levels attained by the Indian industry and to support leftists ideation. Kudos to director and the crew keep up the good work and expecting much more to come up. It's usually thrown to pits by international media coz no one wants to see India in light but the time has come on field and on screen we are not just song and dance but serious work too. One facia opposition will meet their end soon. It's great to enjoy type movie and something to be proud of for everyone of us so let's stop listening to the jealous croud and start to be ours for all of us. Jai hind.

Review

The film revolves around Venky (Vishal Jethwa), a spirited young boy suffering from a terminal illness, and his fearless, loving mother Sujata (Kajol). Even while fighting a losing battle, Venky wants to live life to the fullest - and on his own terms. His final wish? To opt for euthanasia (mercy killing), sparking a legal and emotional battle that shakes the nation. Salaam Venky is a celebration of life, even in the face of death. It's not just about loss - it's about courage, hope, and choosing dignity. This film reminds us of the power of a mother's love and a son's unbreakable spirit. Goods.

Must watch , authentic Air Force Movie 😍

Though we watched the movie very late surprisingly didn't come to know about it ...maybe cuz of no high star power but superbly made. Best Air Force movie ever, it was so authentic ...there were emotions and nationalistic feelings too. Lived each and every moment...all the actors were awesome in their roles. No frill but high intensity and high intellect. What a treat !! 🛫 🛫 Manushi Chillar surpassed herself and so did Tej. The background music was perfect. Not even a single exaggerated moment , the editing was perfect too....no stretches. Would advise everyone to must watch. Why UA though ???
