This movie is such a good encapsulation of modern Australia. With footage of advertising Australia as a prime living destination in the 60s to inclusion, diversity and social hierarchies.

Brilliant casting for main characters who know deeply how to embody the storyline. There is depth, love, tragedy, crime and all facets of life embedded in the film. The complexity of life in general and of place has been shown rather than explained. A fantastic movie I highly recommend.

Great movie but in my opinion, wrongly billed as a comedy - it's a DRAMA, THRILLER, CRIME story with some funny lines.

For a low budget independent film it puts many mega budget big movie house offerings to shame. The film gets going quickly and kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. I think the main themes of the film will translate across the planet - youth being locked out of the system not being able to buy their own homes, world monopolies causing the closure of local businesses, class structures that stifle the ability to get ahead, etc. Great performances from the whole cast, many of whom I'm sure you'll be seeing in the future. If you're looking to "escape" for an hour and a half and be entertained then give it a watch.

A truly South Aussie film, but it shows the 'warts and all' result of the closure of a business - in this case, one which employs a vast number of the community. The opening scene really piques the audiences' interest and there are some oooh moments as the story unfolds. There were plenty of laugh out loud ones too. Although it's filmed in and around Adelaide, it would resonate with an audience anywhere. The cast is exceptional and it's the debut for the very talented lead character. Emotion is Dead was produced on the smell of an oily rag, but shows what a talented film maker Pete Williams is. Can't wait for his next one.
