What a disappointment!!! I approached this thriller TV series blindly trusting the many positive reviews... nothing could be more wrong nowadays, where professional reviews are often entrusted to business interests and amateur ones to donkeys who are satisfied with banal plots, some visual effects, and ridiculous twists from kids' films. This series, a mix between The Silent of the Lambs, Saw, True Detective, Nikita... and many others even mentioned, here with an excellent sense of humour, by the actors during the development of the plot, does not make an impression anywhere, and, indeed, it leaks from all of them. It's a loop of scenes with no purpose, and ends in themselves, to arrive at nothing, except a very banal ending, which could have been resolved in a 5 minute short film. The beginning is promising, certainly intriguing, as the plot unravels, it makes us wonder why we wasted almost 7 hours for... NOTHING!!! THE VOID!!! Negative, from all points of view, even the characters do not create any empathy. FAILED!!!
I've watched two episodes so far and I'm enjoying it. She appears to be a female Sherlock Holmes to some degree. Not sure because I'm still getting back ground information to see where she got this ability or if she just has it because of her very high IQ. She's assigned to work with a fat, gay detective that at first, they didn't get along very well, but as the show progressed the relationship is getting better with moments of comedy, sarcasm and concern on how the other is treated by others . Fast pace, not boring as something is constantly happening. Whether it's a new clue, new kidnapping, murder, you can't go wrong by watching this.
I don't like adaptations, from books, comics, games to series or movies, they always differ from what my mind has imagined and they don't let me and I am not able to enjoy them.
Red Queen scared me a lot, I was very reluctant to see it for fear of seeing what I found, of destroying the novel, the plot, the characters.
Matching or surpassing the novel was impossible; They are neither my Jon nor my Antonia, but you love them anyway. Brilliant/delirious moments like the one with the potato omelet make it unique.
As I said, it's not the novel, but you can't miss it. Looking forward to more Gómez Jurado's universe on the small screen. LOBA NEGRA YA!!!!

A disparate couple defines the success of Red Queen series. I don't care if the series is similar to or well adapted to Juan Manuel Gomez Jurado's Reina Roja (Red Queen) novel. Should it be that way? Absolutely not. I think what really matters is that a series gives you something good, something that you're not used to or may be that day was a really bad one and just want to forget about it. Red Queen gives you that and more. Vicky Luengo acts like she were Antonia since a long time ago. It wasn't easy but she made it. What can I say about Jon? Hovik Keuchkerian is the best Sancho Panza I could ever think of. Moreover I guess JM Gomez Jurado pretended that when created this characters. The missing parts fits like a glove: CGI, secondary roles ( don't forget Jon's mother actress and her famous Spanish omelette!), Madrid locations and so on. I would say this series is a great candidate to conquer your hearts. Please do not hesitate: Watch it and you will love it,
If you have read the novels from the Red Queen's universe, you won't be indiferent. And if you haven't read them yet, it doesn't matter: you'll enjoy the series anyways.
Noir series with mysteries for discover and with plot twists that will make you want for more. With a season finale that is asking for a second season immediately.
The characters are well defined, and although the readers of the novels have imagined their ones while reading, the Jon and Antonia of the series are faithful to the books.
The soundtrack is spectacular and it makes you enter in the mystery.
I recommend it and looking forward for more.
