Literally just last month I said out loud to myself, "I want another Matthew Montgomery movie to come out soon" because I have been a fan for years and own all of the other movies he has been in and it feels like it has been a very long time and then I open Prime Video one day and this was recommended and I was thrilled and it's written by David Lewis which definitely means it's going to be great, also great to see Steve Callahan too and it did not disappoint at all. This was a very good movie and it has all sorts of interesting elements like the fact that Matthew and Steve are married in real life and it almost offers a glimpse to what it might be like to see them split up in real life which I hope never happens! The story was very original, I've never seen anything like it. Fantastically diverse, terrific performances from all of the actors. Really fantastic film!
I had herd a little about this movie from some friends that were familiar with the project and my expectations were a little low given the humble budget and short shoot time. They pulled together a fun romantic comedy that was light and maybe a little heart warming. I could relate since my long time boyfriend is quite a bit younger and I met him on the heals of a divorce much like the "Max" in this movie. This movie didn't have anyone struggling to figure out who they are or how to be them selves in this world and for a moment this movie had me forgetting that we still don't always get to be ourselves with out judgement. I think they did a great job with what they had to work with. Conrad is hot!!!
I don't see why it is called a comedy, because it's not funny. The one lead character's parents are in a three-way relationship and the one guy is super into nude yoga, I don't find that funny just random. There are some points where I thought oh that might be funny but the acting is very eh, if this were an acting class you might get an 80% the acting isn't terrible but is a fair distance from being good enough to truly draw me in and let me connect with the characters. There is no real conflict in this movie all the characters have a sort of whatever happens happens type attitude. The conflict is along the lines of you didn't fold the bedding correctly and the response is oh ok than you can do it, there is no argument there is no witty back and forth it's just a short awkward conversation.
The movie is a great mind trick where it draws you in because your expecting something to happen and then you keep watching because oh this is pleasant and when it ends you're left thinking nothing really happened in that movie.

Romantic comedies are a pleasant way of spending some time at the movies. However, considering the longstanding nature of this genre, it's imperative that new entries in this category distinguish themselves by incorporating stories, characters and narrative elements that are fresh, inventive and different. Unfortunately, those are qualities largely missing from this latest offering from writer-director David Lewis. In spite of its impressive production values across the board, this story of a long-tenured gay male couple that, ironically enough, decides to part ways just as the Supreme Court hands down its landmark decision in the Marriage Equality case is about as sappy and predictable as a rom-com can possibly get. To be sure, this release features its share of solid performances, moments of genuinely inspired humor and several modestly intriguing plot twists, but that's not enough, as much of the film unfolds in a wholly foreseeable fashion, leaving viewers with little to be surprised about. It's also weighed down by a positively annoying soundtrack that plays like it was plucked from a Hallmark Channel movie. Sensitive viewers should also be cautioned about some extensive and surprisingly explicit sexual content for of picture of this nature. It's regrettable, though, that the strength of this production's story didn't match that of the elements that went into telling it. An empty package is still an empty package, no matter how beautifully it may be wrapped.
Maybe the problem is that the same person wrote, directed, and produced this movie, so there was no one to tell him what didn't work.
I could not get past 20 minutes of the inadequate story line and wooden acting.
Why is it so difficult to find a good gay movie?
