What started off as a fun, pleasant watch quickly became a highlight in a year of fantastic tv.
Dyer and Brammall have wonderful chemistry (which may or may not be obvious), perfect timing but also both deliver on the emotional heart of the show which elevates it to something great. The rest of the cast are all hilarious, delightful in their quirks and help balance things from ever getting too heavy. Notably, the relationship between mother and daughter is superbly cynical.
The writing is sharp and plays between clever, crude and painfully awkward humour. It never misses and is regularly laugh out loud funny. The story is refreshing and relatable.
Here's hoping this isn't the last of Colin.

One of the best and brightest comedies I've seen in years. The characters are flawed yet sweet and the writing is as sharp as anything. Patrick Brammall is wonderful as Gordon; I see a lot of Gervais in his delivery. Harriet Dyer is quick and funny as Ashley and her timing is just perfect.
There's always crazy mother in these shows and Helen Thomson is the perfect, sleazy, narcissistic, well to do mother to Ashley with a creepy father in law, played wonderfully by Darren Gilshenan.
I so enjoyed this show and just hope there's a second series I can binge.
'A sip from the furry cup' is my new favourite line.

Brilliant and relatable.
Laugh out loud and awkward at times which makes it even funnier.
Colin steals every scene that he's in as well as Brett the Kiwi Barmen. Brett adds a bookend to Gordons manic outbursts.
A refreshing comedy that gives a great insight to modern day dating.
Great mix of characters of situations that don't need to be explained to be funny.
Unlike American comedy's that need laugh tracks to remind the audience when it's time to laugh, this one lets the comedy do all the work.
Subtle use of expletives is also subtle and timed to perfection.
There is a mother / daughter dynamic that everyone can either relate to or know of. Helen Thomson as mum, Lynelle, needs special mention as she also steals all of her scenes.
Now that I think of it, everyone seems to steal their scenes.
Can't wait for for the next episode!

Just watch it. The name of it is deceiving really. I thought it was like an office kind of thing. It's not. It's laugh out loud funny. It's brilliantly written. Loved every single second if it.
Watched it on my own then watched it all again in one go with 4 friends.
Whoever directed it was genius. So many small funny things especially noticeable in watch 2.
Brilliant. Sharing this with the world.
The characters are excellent. The small funny things made us belly laugh.
The mom... well she is just excellent.
This show does not need a season 2. It's perfect.
Thanks for making this. This is the best Australian show I have ever seen.

I thought it would be a Office spinoff. Pleasantly surprised to find it's a romantic comedy. Real life comedy, not the canned laughter type. All the characters are brilliant, from Berlin to the bar staff, Ashley's friends to her mum. The main characters develop well. They are very believable, and act superbly.
The writing is top notch, up there with Rake and other great Australian programmes. And that's coming from a kiwi.
I think people will see a little of themselves in the characters.
Please tell me there will be a second series, we binged watched this and need to see what happens to Ashley and Flash.

Thought this was gonna be a dull office thing trying to be funny. I was far off and never happier to be wrong.
Casting was perfect. Comedy timing spot on, but also very real and touching.
Really hoping for a second series. Want to see Berlin cry. Ha ha. Very happy to have taken time to watch this little gem. It proves that Australians can do comedy and do it well.
Even my hubby enjoyed it. Plenty belly laughs and a lot of cringe moments.
Support cast were also perfect and made the thing work as a whole.
If your looking for a binge show then this is definitely for you. And let's not forget Colin the hero.

Must say that I'm pleasantly surprised by this well written Australian comedy. No it's not at the "all time favourite" level like Friends or Seinfeld, but it is witty, it's sweet, it's laugh out loud and it has heart.
The writing is clever and very "now" (borrowed from episode 3:"it's now"). The acting is great, including most of the support actors. Two lead characters have good chemistry, which is absolutely essential in such series.
If you like romantic comedy, looking for some "comfort tv", something light and fun, I definitely recommend this little hidden gem. I think I was the first viewer who gave it a rating on IMDB. Come on. This series is too good to be this "hidden".

Perfect casting makes this comedy series a delight, with hilarious awkward situations and the best use of Australian humor. You will cringe and squirm as you relive all the silly moments and painful relationship hardships for our modern times. Most of all, you will find yourself laughing out loud!
Creators, Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, have poured out their hearts and laid all to bear in their true 12-year-age-gap relationship for our pure enjoyment. Bonus being that they also played the leading roles of Gordon and Ashley, allowing more depth to the characters.
Harriet Dyer proves to be an unique comedic actor, with impeccable timing and mannerisms. While Brammall has the somewhat straight role, holding up a mirror to our stressful and unfulfilling lives. It is here that the uncomfortable laughs and nervous giggles creep into the comedy, balancing perfectly with that of the bumbling Ashley and her hectic messy life.
One of the few Australian comedy series' that understands the visual language of comedic storytelling, combining that with the hilarious use of everyday rambling dialogue and banter.

I enjoyed this show it is funny , and quirky .
I enjoy the characters and the dog .
Two people with good hearts brought together by a furry friend .
One is older but will the age gap matter? Maybe but they will work it out .
The dog maybe the real star , definitely a Center piece bring the two protagonists together .
It's light , cheerful , well written and funny .
I think anyone who needs a laugh and something light and romantic this is definitely worth the watch .
Flashing a nipple leads to love , and an expensive trip to the vet .
The small things we do lead to bigger things we must face in life .

The dog is a great actor. I was worried it would be sad. I usually can't watch anything about a sick or injured dog. The writers did a spectacular job in keeping the dogs injuries integral to the show, but not being sappy or ugly.
The writing is superb. I had to watch it twice to catch all the funny lines. As an American, it is fun to learn Aussie vernacular and humor.
Patrick Brammall is handsome, honest and quite funny. His character feels real. He is so lovable. I hope there will be more episodes in the future. This is one of the best sitcoms to come across my television. I will recommend to everyone.

Its a rom com, but not your typical "meet cute -rom com". It's not too many punch lines either, I can't quite describe it, but it's how they act out their dramatic life events in a funny way.
If you don't get hooked on the first episode, it's probably not for you. The episodes are 25 m long, so I recommend everyone giving it a shot. The series has an open ending, so the possibility for more seasons are there, but it's still a cute story if it ends here.
Absolutely gold, I'm recommending it to everyone, even if you don't typically like romcoms, I think most people would enjoy this little series that is both heartwarming and funny.

Colin from Accounts is a charming Aussie comedy created and featuring real-life couple Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammel as Ashley and Gordon.
Brought together by an injured dog, Ash and Gordon navigate the messiness of work, friendship and dating despite different lives and an age gap.
Dyer and Brammel have created characters with nuanced personalities. The awkwardness and attraction the characters experience is palpable and relateable, and the humour woven throughout.
The characters and suburban setting feels universal while recognisably Australian.
Eight episodes feels way too short and leaves the viewer expecting more and a little disappointed with the end point. Season two seems inevitable - we all need to see Berlin cry.

A driving accident sees Gordon and Ashley thrown together because of an accident to a eit, a dog they'd name Colin, from Accounts.
It's a good old, traditional age gap comedy, the coming together of two people with a bit of an age gap, not a massive one, but enough to cause plenty of interesting moments.
A thoroughly enjoyable first series, in my opinion the earlier episodes are the best, but the final episode is very good, and layed the path for a second series. Only episode seven was a big disappointment, it felt mean spirited somehow.
Some great characters along the way, Gordon's colleagues and Ashley's family in particular.
It's wonderful to think that Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall are a real life couple, you see their chemistry very easily, I can't help wondering how much of the comedy here comes from their real life, shared experiences.
Roll on Series two.
8/10.

Nearly turned off as at the start thought this was going to be the usual slap stick humour we've seen a thousand times before. So glad I stuck with it... my curiosity was piqued and for good reason. This is one of the most relatable charming often awkward programs I've ever felt so connected with.. as a viewer you feel like you're falling in love with them falling in love and what could be sweeter 💕 Its comic genius and I cant get enough cause there's so much fun and enjoyment in this totally blown away. I am now writing a sentence to meet the requirement for my review to be posted... much like how this series would be 😆

Colin from Accounts is a superbly written and cleverly constructed masterpiece. Set in a typical Australian metro suburb, the audience is taken quickly into a quirky but entirely real whirlwind relationship which starts with a sudden accident involving a very cute dog. This odd threesome become an instant but odd family who, over the course of the 8 episodes, grows into an honest and believable relationship, The clever writing pairs quirky and offbeat characters with genuine relational issues, and masterfully inspires the audience in its own relational self awareness.
The exceptional script is matched by the chemistry of the two lead actors. Watching two superb actors apply their craft with such a connection is worth watching the entire series on its own. 10 out of 10... easy!

I saw this on Binge and started watching just to check it out and just binge watched the first 5 episodes, great writing and characterisations by the leads and excellent support cast, the most enjoyable watch for me since "the office" and Australian to boot!
If you enjoy adult comedy with some not too awky drama and romance moments this is definitely one to check out, you will definitely be praying for more episodes to be produced post haste.
Good for late night watching with your significant other as there is plenty of swears and sexual themes including the infamous "boob flash". In closing May I say "go Flash and Ash"!!

I'm a little surprised how much people seem to love this. To me it was a run of the mill Aussie comedy, not overly special. The two lead actors are great, and it's a very light, easy watch. I did find the show to be quite predictable and threw in the same sort of 'diverse' side characters that Aussie shows like to do. The cast was very strong I will say. Overall, it's a nice little show, easy Sunday arvo watching, but the hype is undeserved. There are a lot more creative and funny shows (I didn't actually LOL at any point during this) I'm wondering if the big marketing budget is what is getting it all this attention. Overall - I did enjoy it and do recommend it.

Gordon is driving to work when he is distracted by a woman, Ashley, and hits a stray dog with his car. Ashley agrees to take some of the responsibility for the incident and they take the dog, whom they call Colin, to a vet. Due to having to look after Colin, their lives are drawn together.
I wanted to like this series but ultimately found it (slightly) more a miss than a hit. It has a fair deal of heart: two strangers, each flawed and vulnerable in their own ways, agree to look after a disabled stray dog. However, that sentiment is not enough to sustain an entire series, though it appears that was the intention.
Billed as a comedy, the jokes are few and far between and largely consist of plays on awkwardness and cringyness. That sort of stuff can work - the Office, especially the UK one - did that to perfection. Here it often feels contrived and overdone, e.g. For some inexplicable reason one character wants to hide a harmless detail about their life from the other and we have an entire episode based on them trying to hide it through silly machinations.
There's heaps of opportunities to take aim at societal norms but here the series sets up the joke but then pulls its punch, like the writers are afraid of offending someone. For example, in one episode, easily the worst of the series, Ashley's friends turn out to be a bunch of loathsome, offense-seeking, PC imbeciles but instead of taking them down you get the feel the writers don't want to take too tough a stance so things just fizzle out and even give you half an impression that the loathsome characters might be in the right.
It is a romantic comedy but even here things are done in half measures. The relationship seems to consist of one step forward, two steps back. The awkwardness that was the cornerstone of the comedy hinders the development of the romantic aspect. The hesitancy and awkwardness can be cute in small measures but here it consumes the show and makes for a frustrating plot.

I can't tell you how bad episode 7 is, it nearly killed the show for me, it spat in the face of character development, it made them into nonsensical ridiculous versions of themselves that didn't fit at all with what we'd watched. It genuinely made me hate Ashley, her ignorance was so irritating here. It was very similar to trashy American stuff. So watch 1-6 then go to 8 and you'll have a far better journey.
Or you'll have to see straight people turn gay for no reason. All the new she rubbish with gender, pro nouns and what to say, it was infuriating that such a good show put this rubbish in.
Rest of the show was perfect .

Two people's lives intersect when one of them runs over a dog.
They are very different people and the injured dog seems to be the only thing they have in common.
The characters are suitably broken and struggling in their own ways.
This is sharp and very witty - there are some great characters and some excellent writing.
This is very grounded with a typical Ozzy roughness to it.
The situations are a little silly but never stray into ridiculous and everything makes sense.
A lot of the humour is based on the differences between the main characters (age, ambition, family) and they have great chemistry.
I hope this gets a second season - but if not the first one stands on its own.
There are no big themes in this - it is honest good fun.
