John Cena’s Fan-Favorite 11% Rotten Tomatoes Misfire Comes to a New Streamer Next Month
Image
John Cena will next be seen reprising his role as Christopher Smith in Peacemaker Season 2, but shortly after he first played the DC hero, he starred in an action thriller that just got an exciting streaming update. Cena stars alongside Alison Brie in Freelance, the 2023 action comedy following an ex-special forces operative who takes a security job for a journalist to interview a dictator, but things go sideways fast when a coup breaks out. Freelance is currently streaming on Hulu, but Netflix has confirmed that it will begin streaming on the platform on August 2. Critics were particularly harsh on Freelance, rating it 11% on Rotten Tomatoes, but fans gave the film a 78% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. However, it grossed only $10 million against a $40 million budget, making it a major flop.

Jacob Lentz wrote the script for Freelance, and Pierre Morel directed the film. Lentz is best known for his work as...

Comic-Con 2025 Schedule: ‘Star Trek,’ ‘Alien: Earth,’ ‘Project Hail Mary’ and George Lucas’ First-Ever Appearance
Image
San Diego Comic-Con is rolling out its schedule for the 2025 convention this week, which runs from July 24–27. It will likely be a quieter convention this year, since neither Marvel Studios nor DC Studios are planning a major panel covering their upcoming projects. But for the first time in its history, “Star Wars” creator George Lucas will appear in person at the largest annual fan gathering in North America, to give a first look at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which is expected to open in Los Angeles in 2026. He’ll be joined in Hall H by director Guillermo del Toro, visual designer Doug Chiang and moderator Queen Latifah.

“We are beyond thrilled to welcome George Lucas to Comic-Con for the very first time,” said Comic-Con’s chief of communications and strategy David Glanzer in a statement. “Nearly five decades ago, ‘Star Wars’ made one of its earliest public appearances at our convention,...

2 Years Later, Scrapped Disney+ Series Sails to Major Success on AMC
Image
Disney+ may have made a huge mistake shelving Nautilus. The 10-part reimagining of Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas recently premiered on AMC to major viewership success.

According to Deadline, the premiere episode of Nautilus, "Anahata," attracted 2.6 million viewers on linear alone, per Nielsen live+3 data. This makes it AMC's biggest premiere night audience since The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which premiered just over one year ago on Feb. 25, 2024. Nautilus' impressive viewership results come a week after FlixPatrol reported on how the series had also found success on AMC+, beating out hits like The Walking Dead: Dead City and Hell Motel on the streaming chart.

Created by James Dormer, Nautilus follows Shazad Latif as Captain Nemo, an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, who has become a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company. Bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him,...

Image
Bill Hader is swapping the dark comedy of “Barry” for pure animated fun — while staying under the Warner Bros. Discovery hat.

Hader’s first project since wrapping his acclaimed HBO series in 2023 is the animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat.” Hader stars as the titular character who “takes on his toughest assignment yet for the I.I.I.I.: to cheer Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town,” as the synopsis reads. “Known for taking things too far, this could be this agent of chaos’ last chance to prove himself…or lose his magical hat!”

Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Paula Pell, Tiago Martinez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Bowen Yang, and Tituss Burgess co-star in the animated film.

Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja co-write and co-direct “The Cat in the Hat.” Earlier this year, Carloni said during a Work in Progression session at Annecy,...

John Cena addresses Coyote vs. Acme’s fate
John Cena is thrilled ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is finally getting a theatrical release. The Looney Tunes movie was shelved by Warner Bros. in February 2024 as a tax write-off despite being completed, but the distribution rights were later purchased by Ketchup Entertainment and ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is now slated to hit the silver screen next year.Cena, 48, is thankful ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is getting the chance to see the light of day, and admitted it was “tough” when the film was initially scrapped. When Screen Rant asked the WWE star how he felt about Coyote vs. Acme’s upcoming theatrical release, he replied: “Rewarding, certainly for everybody [who was] a part of the project. Anytime you put your heart and soul into something and it gets shelved, it is tough. “Again, it ain’t my sandbox, so I completely understand those decisions, but the fact that companies could talk together and the movie could get shown.

“It’s Tough”: John Cena Finally Opens Up About ’Coyote vs. Acme’s Fate
Image
In the almost seven years since its announcement, the live-action/hybrid film, Coyote vs. Acme has caused many headaches. Most of these pains came long after the cameras were put down, and the film was finalized, when Warner Bros. Discovery made the decision in November 2023 to shelve the completed product and never allow it to see the light of day. Since then, major moves have been made, including one that has now officially put the title back on the release calendar, with a window set for 2026. While we’ve previously heard from plenty of folks behind the movie and those involved in the decisions surrounding its release, one of its leading men, John Cena, has largely kept his opinions to himself. But, during a recent interview with ScreenRant, the actor and professional wrestler finally opened up about his feelings surrounding the movie's cancellation and its eventual acquisition by Ketchup Entertainment.

John Cena Breaks Silence On Coyote Vs. Acme's Revival 3 Months After The Movie Was Saved
Image
John Cena breaks his silence on Coyote vs. Acme's revival three months after the movie was saved. In November 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery made the controversial decision to shelve Coyote vs. Acme to claim a tax write-off, but unlike the Batgirl movie, the studio reversed course after facing public criticism, granting the filmmakers permission to find a new distributor. In March 2025, following a series of failed talks with potential buyers, Ketchup Entertainment ultimately secured the distribution rights for the Coyote vs. Acme movie, which stars Cena, Will Forte, Lana Condor, and more.

Speaking with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley for his new movie Heads of State, John Cena broke his silence on Coyote vs. Acme's revival three months after the movie was saved. The star says it's rewarding for everyone involved that the film might finally be seen. He also acknowledged the disappointment of it being shelved, though he respects the decision.

Karma Hits David Zaslav: WB Split Is Divine Vengeance for What HBO Max Did to the Original Looney Tunes Shorts
Image
Call it a corporate shake-up or call it karma, but David Zaslav’s latest headache, the rumored Warner Bros. split, feels like divine payback for a sin cartoon lovers still haven’t forgiven. When HBO Max yanked the original Looney Tunes shorts from its library, fans cried foul. These weren’t just cartoons; they were history.

Now, with the studio facing internal chaos and strategic whiplash, many see the writing on the wall. Zaslav may have thought he was just cleaning house, but it’s looking more like the house is cleaning him back.

Warner Bros. Team Defends The Shelving of Coyote vs. Acme

The team behind the upcomingThe Cat in the Hat film defends the decision to shelve Coyote vs. Acme.

Per Deadline, The Cat in the Hat co-writer-director Alessandro Carloni opened up about why the axing of Coyote vs. Acme by Warner Bros. Discovery should not become "representative of how painful and atrocious the industry can be." Carloni explained, "It's that kind of industry. You have to go with the frustration. We are lucky to do art in our profession but we can’t lock ourselves in a basement and paint a painting. We get to do things that are huge and expensive and it is a business."

Erica Rivinoja, who wrote and directed The Cat in the Hat alongside Carloni, added that audiences can help prevent future cancellations in one simple way. "Go to the movies," Rivinoja said. "Go to the big ones, go to the small ones, don't just stream them.

It seems like nearly everyone sided against Warner Bros. when the studio made the decision to shelve Coyote Vs. Acme, as the family film was already completed. Much like Batgirl, despite what the final product’s reception would turn out to be, the work of the artists involved in the production seemingly went on just to become a tax write-off. Warners is now producing a new animated version of the Dr. Seuss classic, The Cat in the Hat, and the team behind the upcoming film would take a surprising stand on the issue.

According to Deadline, The Cat in the Hat creatives have defended Warner Bros. on making the decision to shelve Coyote Vs. Warner Bros. Discovery Breakup Cues Hollywood’s Latest Succession Drama As Two New Companies Take Shape
Image
Monday’s news that Warner Bros Discovery is splitting into two companies – one consisting of studios and streaming, the other linear TV networks – has cued up Hollywood’s latest succession drama.

David Zaslav, having steered Wbd as CEO since the 2022 close of the $43 billion merger of Discovery (which he formerly ran) and WarnerMedia, is slated to be CEO of the “S&s” (Studios & Streamers) entity. Gunnar Wiedenfels, Warner Bros Discovery’s CFO, who held the same post at Discovery and has a pure finance background, has been installed as CEO of the Global Networks company.

The breakup is expected to formally close by the second half of 2026, and already a host of questions are swirling about the long-anticipated maneuver. Among them: Who will sit in the corner office when all is said and done?

For each of new company, M&a could provide that answer. During a call with Wall Street analysts about the transaction,...

New Cleaving of Warner Bros. Discovery’s Studio Business from Its Cable Channels Will Do More Than ‘Unlock Value’
Image
We’ve heard these phrases before: “unlock value,” “maximize potential,” “leverage strengths.” All three were used in Warner Bros. Discovery’s corporate press release on Monday morning announcing that the David Zaslav-led company will now look to become two separate companies, one housing the film studio, HBO, and streamer, and the other housing all of Discovery’s old cable channels.

We had a feeling this would happen sooner or later. Cable — or linear TV — is dwindling, even if it still brings in cash. And when Comcast did its own spin of cable channels with a company now called Versant (“SpinCo” had a nice ring to it), we wrote that it’s a new shortcut for a constantly consolidating Hollywood to unburden the “good stuff” from the “bad stuff.”

But to many it probably sounds like “unlocking value” translates to “make more money for shareholders.” Yeah, there’s certainly that.

HBO Max has finally announced when The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie will be available for streaming on their catalog. Audiences will be able to enjoy the animated project in the comfort of their homes on June 27. The film placed Porky Pig and Daffy Duck (both characters voiced by Eric Bauza) in the middle of a dangerous adventure, after the protagonists have spent decades entertaining multiple generations through their appearances in the Looney Tunesfranchise. Marvel Star Kathryn Newton to Star in Shark Thriller 'Devil's Mouth'
Image
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaactress Kathryn Newton is preparing to sink her teeth into a creature feature that will see her swap ground insects for underwater predators. The Marvel star has secured a major role in a shark survival thriller helmed by Jeff Wadlow, the director of Kick-Ass 2, Fantasy Island, and Imaginary. Newton will headline the upcoming film, titled Devil's Mouth, alongside Lana Condor, who is best known for her role in To All the Boys I've Loved Before, but also starred in the recently unshelved Coyote Vs. Acme.

Newton is no stranger to scares, having starred in two acclaimed horror movies (among other titles) just last year, hot on the heels of her heroic turn in the McU's third Ant-Man film. The first was the "coming of rage love story" Lisa Frankenstein, which saw her in the titular role opposite Cole Sprouse, and the second was the hit vampire flick Abigail,...

Kathryn Newton books her next horror movie role—and this one's a creature feature
Image
Scream queen Kathryn Newton has booked her next scary movie and this one is a survival thriller about college friends terrorized by a bull shark.

Deadline reports that Newton will co-star with Lana Condor in Devil's Mouth, a co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate. While on a trip to Thailand, two friends become "trapped in an underwater cave system with a bull shark. Old tensions and power struggles resurface as they fight to survive."

Honestly, it's not the most original of storylines. It sounds very similar to 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, which followed teen girls swimming into sunken Mayan ruins and getting trapped within the underwater labyrinth of caves while surrounded by sharks. But I'm willing to give Devil's Mouth a chance, if only because Newton usually picks pretty good scripts.

This one is written by Myung Joh Wesner (High Potential) and Aja Gabel (The Staircase). Another positive for...

Image
Kathryn Newton's star power is gaining strength as The Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania actress has secured another major role, this time in a new shark thriller, Devil's Mouth. The film will see Newton battling for survival against the relentless underwater predator aptly likened to the devil. Devil's Mouth is a high-profile collaboration between Amazon MGM, and Lionsgate, marking Newton's second Amazon project following the well-received time-loop romance The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, which premiered on Prime Video to critical acclaim.

In what promises to be a thrilling spin on the modern shark horror hit, 47 Meters Down, Devil's Mouth will see Newton and Condo as two college best friends whose vacation trip to Thailand takes a dangerous turn.

The Final Destination-Themed Music Video You Didn't Know You Needed
Image
One of the coolest things about the "Final Destination" franchise is that if you were to ask someone which one was their favorite, it would be completely understandable to hear any four of them come up. I cannot envision a world where anyone claims 2009's "The Final Destination" as the best this horror franchise has to offer. With that installment in mind, it almost feels like a minor miracle that the series would not only survive such a franchise-killing sequel but would also lead to an installment that brings "Final Destination" back to its roots in ways no one could have anticipated.

I've seen these movies many, many times, and I will always go to bat for "Final Destination 5" as the series benchmark. The triple threat of its harrowing disaster sequences, gruesome deaths, and one of the greatest rug pulls in horror history puts it above the rest. The...

Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil Director Breaks Down Why A Sequel Hasn't Happened, Despite Multiple Attempts
Image
Tucker & Dale vs. Evilis one of the greatest horror comedies in recent memory, and the film's director has come forward to explain why a sequel hasn't materialized after all these years. Premiering in 2010 and starring Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine in the title roles, the film follows a duo of friendly hillbillies who head to a run-down cabin in the woods for a short vacation. Unfortunately, they are mistaken for murderers by some visiting college kids, and soon things devolve into hilariously unnecessary bloodshed.

The indie sensation was written and directed by Eli Craig, and it made a splash at festivals before having a negligible run in theaters. While it was never destined to become a box office sensation, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil was an instant cult hit and amassed a sizable audience through streaming. With its unique approach to horror slapstick, and its affable protagonists, Tucker & Dale had...

'Tucker & Dale vs. Evil' Director Says David Zaslav Killed Spin-off TV Series
Image
Tucker & Dale vs. Evildirector Eli Craig has admitted that the kill count is extremely high when it comes to making a follow-up to his 2010 cult horror comedy. There have been several attempts to bring Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine's backwoods buddies back to the screen, but he says every idea has been killed off "for one reason or another." Among the projects was a spin-off TV series that was canceled ahead of production by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.

In an interview with SlashFilm, Craig revealed that Tucker & Dale vs. Evil nearly spawned a TV series that would have turned the movie's titular hillbillies into a pair of affable detectives, "trying to figure out what's happening in a world where they're always getting it wrong and people are dying around them." The project made significant strides towards production, but was canned by Zaslav, who has been involved...

David Zaslav Killed A TV Sequel To Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil; Here's What It Would Have Been About [Exclusive]
Image
If there's one thing that can be guaranteed, almost as sure as the sun will rise in the morning, it's that Hollywood will make a sequel to a successful horror movie. Heck, sometimes they'll make sequels to movies that weren't successful in the first place just because horror is so damn cheap to produce. (Just look at "Leprechaun" and its many sequels.) Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way. If it did, we'd have a sequel to "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil" by now. It turns out, we could have had a sequel, were it not for Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.

I recently had the chance to speak with director Eli Craig in honor of his excellent new movie "Clown in a Cornfield." During the conversation, we touched on the attempts to get a sequel to his 2011 cult classic "Tucker and Dale" made over the years. While...

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Heading to Cannes Market With Kinology
Image
The ongoing drama involving “Coyote vs. Acme” is taking another turn.

The live-action animated film — which was initially shelved by Warner Bros. as a tax write-off in late 2023 — is now set to hit the Cannes market.

Starring Will Forte, John Cena and Lana Condor, Coyote vs. Acme is directed by Dave Green and produced by Chris DeFaria (“The Lego Movie”) and James Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”).

“We’re not just bringing a family film to Cannes — we’re bringing a global event,” commented Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment. “Coyote vs. Acme is a true four-quadrant crowd pleaser. The performances are sublime, the world-building is extraordinary, and Dave Green has delivered something visually inventive and...

Beep Beep: ‘Coyote Vs. Acme’ Heads To The Cannes Market With Kinology Aboard For International Sales — Hot Project
Image
Exclusive: One of the year’s most intrigue-filled movies is heading to the Cannes market for sale: the former Warner Bros live-action/animation hybrid Coyote vs. Acme.

We can reveal that Grégoire Melin’s Paris-based Kinology will serve as international sales agent for Ketchup Entertainment, which bought worldwide rights to the film from Warner Bros in a big deal earlier this year and is releasing in North America at a date tbc.

We understand there will be footage for buyers to see and potentially a market screening but the latter isn’t set yet.

Will Forte, John Cena and Lana Condor star in the movie, which follows Wile E. Coyote, who, after Acme products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a billboard lawyer to sue the Acme Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer (Forte) against the latter...

Will Forte shares gratitude & excitement for Coyote vs Acme release
Image
When it was announced that Coyote vs Acme was being unceremoniously shelved, it became The People vs. Warner Bros. — or rather, The People vs. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery who made the move as part of a tax write-off. Thankfully, the company let up in their initial decision and let the filmmakers find distirbution elsewhere. After leaving the movie hanging in the air (not unlike Wile E. Coyote in the shorts), it finally found a home with Ketchup Entertainment. And like everyone else, star Will Forte is celebrating.

Forte, who plays Wile E. Coyote’s attorney in his lawsuit against Acme Corporation, recently expressed just how surprised he is that everything came together far better than anyone could have expected. “I never thought it would happen so it just came out of nowhere and I’m so thrilled. Thank you Ketchup Entertainment, I’m so excited for people to see this movie.

'Coyote vs. Acme' Star Is "Thrilled" Looney Tunes Movie Is Getting a Release
Image
Nearly a month after Coyote vs. Acmewas saved from the scrapheap by Ketchup Entertainment, having previously been discarded by Warner Bros. as part of a tax write-off, star Will Forte has vowed to go to extreme lengths to promote the Looney Tunes movie ahead of its theatrical release, which is expected to roll out sometime next year — even if it means climbing to the top of Mount Everest to shout about it from the rooftops to help generate interest and make it a box office success.

While attending the Los Angeles premiere of his new show The Four Seasons, Forte briefly turned his attention to a project he filmed long before the Netflix miniseries: the formerly shelved Coyote vs. Acme. The cameras started rolling on the hybrid live-action/animated legal comedy in March 2022, with Forte starring as Wile E. Coyote's lawyer Kevin Avery opposite John Cena's Acme Corporation attorney Buddy Crane,...

Will Forte Reacts to 'Coyote Vs. Acme' Getting Released After Being Shelved by Warner Bros.
Image
Will Forte is grateful that his film Coyote Vs Acme has been saved.

If you didn’t know, the movie was fully filmed and in the post-production phase ahead of a release, when Warner Bros. Discovery decided to scrap the movie completely in November 2023. However, in March 2025, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the film for theatrical release.

Now, Will, who plays Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer in the movie, is reacting to the news.

Keep reading to find out more…

“I never thought it would happen so it just came out of nowhere and I’m so thrilled. Thank you Ketchup Entertainment, I’m so excited for people to see this movie. Coyote vs. Acme Star Reacts to Doomed Looney Tunes Film Getting Rescued After Controversial Cancelation
Image
When Coyote vs. Acme was canceled by Warner Bros. as a tax writeoff, no-one was more disappointed than star Will Forte. He had been cast in the movie as Wile E. Coyote's lawyer, and he'd been so excited about the film.

The backlash to the cancelation was swift, and it spread all over social media. People were furious, especially since Warner Bros. had also recently scrapped the highly anticipated Batgirl and the Scooby-Doo flick Scoob! Holiday Haunt. And eventually, the pushback resulted in success. Ketchup Entertainment, who had previously released The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes movie, saved Coyote vs. Acme by acquiring the film for a theatrical release.

While at the premiere of his new show The Four Seasons on April 24, Forte got the chance to share with The Hollywood Reporter his elation over the film being saved. “I never thought it would happen, so...

Will Forte Is Willing to Climb Mount Everest to Promote ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ After Looney Tunes Film Was Saved
Image
Will Forte can’t help but hype the long-awaited theatrical release of “Coyote vs. Acme.” Forte has pushed for years for “Coyote vs. Acme” to be distributed after Warner Bros. removed the film from its 2023 release schedule and opted to take a $30 million tax write-off instead. As of 2025, though, Ketchup Entertainment acquired “Coyote vs. Acme” and is planning a theatrical release for the Looney Tunes property, much like the critically acclaimed “The Day the Earth Blew Up” which was also originally commissioned for Warner Bros.’ Max.

Forte told THR that “words cannot describe” how grateful he is that “Coyote vs. Acme” will get any release at all. “I never thought it would happen so it just came out of nowhere and I’m so thrilled,” Forte said while promoting his “The Four Seasons” series. “Thank you Ketchup Entertainment, I’m so excited for people to see this movie. Will Forte Celebrates ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Rescue: “I Never Thought It Would Happen”
Image
A few weeks after Coyote vs. Acme was officially saved by Ketchup Entertainment and is headed to theaters, star Will Forte is still in shock.

The Looney Tunes film, featuring Forte and John Cena opposite an animated Wile E. Coyote, became the most talked about movie in Hollywood in late 2023 when The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Warner Bros. intended to scrap the movie as part of a $115 million writedown. It appeared it would never be released, but a social media campaign to save the project helped lead to an acquisition deal between Ketchup and Warners for the worldwide rights.

At the Los Angeles premiere of his new show The Four Seasons on Thursday, Forte told THR that “words cannot describe” how he’s feeling about the movie’s changed fate.

“I never thought it would happen so it just came out of nowhere and I’m so thrilled,...

I’m So Glad John Cena Is Retiring From WWE Especially After Watching What He Did in Peacemaker
Image
John Cena retiring from WWE? Honestly, it’s about time – and I say this with nothing but love. The man is a legend, a 17-time world champion, and the personification of the company. There is no denying that he is an incredible wrestler who has been ruling over fans’ hearts for generations now. However, after watching him in DC’s Peacemaker, I am convinced that he belongs in front of a camera.

You cannot change my mind when I say this – John Cena is the best wrestler turned actor, right up there with Dave Bautista. Sorry, Dwayne Johnson! And now, as he moves onto the next chapter of his career, it feels like we are watching a man who’s mastered one world conquer the next.

Netflix's new modern Western romantic drama series Ransom Canyon made its premiere on April 17, and fans were surely thrilled to tune into the new series and see what's in store for the characters brought to life by Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, and the whole ensemble cast. The series, which is based on the book series by Jodi Thomas, centers on three ranching families whose battles over land and legacy have wide-ranging impact, leading to the season ending on a somber note.

Fixed | Adult animated comedy shelved by Warner Bros finds home at Netflix
Daran Norris, Kathryn Hahn, Eric Bauza, Bobby Moynihan, Michelle Buteau, Beck Bennett, Antonio Alvarez, Aaron LaPlante, and River Gallo in Fijo (2025)
The adult animated comedy Fixed, shelved by Warner Bros, has been rehomed at Netflix and will stream in August.

Warner Bros is beginning to build a reputation as a studio that makes films for other companies to release. Following The Day The Earth Blew Up and Coyote Vs Acme, the animated comedy Fixed is the latest Warner movie about to be rescued from the void.

Directed by Hotel Transylvania's Genndy Tartakovsky, Fixed is a 2D-animated adventure about a bloodhound who makes a bid for escape when he learns he’s about to be neutered. Celebrity voices include Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn and Fred Armisen, all playing dogs of one genre or another, and work on the film was completed in 2023 – it was even submitted to the MPAA for certification, and was given an R-rating for its saucy humour.

Fixed was always something of a risk, though, both for its adult tone and its animation style,...

New R-Rated Genndy Tartakovsky Animated Comedy ‘Fixed’ Is Handing Netflix Its Balls
Image
Netflix has come to the rescue of Genndy Tartakovsky’s 2D adult-animated “Fixed,” which was dropped by New Line in 2023 via Warner Bros. Discovery in a cost-cutting measure similar to the “Coyote vs Acme” hybrid and “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie,” which were picked up by Ketchup Entertainment. The R-rated co-production with Sony Pictures Animation was picked up by the streamer and will premiere on August 13.

“Fixed,” from a story by Tartakovsky, Steve Greenberg, Rich Lufrano, and Jon Vitti, follows Bull (Adam Devine), an average blue bloodhound who discovers that he’s going to be neutered in the morning. As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends as these are the last 24 hours with his balls. He also has a crush on the dog next door (Kathryn Hahn). The pals includes characters voiced by Idris Elba,...

Duck Dodgers vanished from television screens for nearly two decades, but the wait is finally over, although for a limited time. According to Collider, Cartoon Network is dusting off this cult-favorite Looney Tunes spinoff and bringing it back to airwaves this May, but not as a full-fledged revival. Instead, it’s being treated as a special occasion and more of a nostalgic detour than a return to the regular lineup.

‘Blue Eye Samurai’ Season 2 Lands Director in ‘Ultraman Rising’ Alum
Image
Last year, Ultraman fans were gifted with a new and exciting 3D-animated installment of the franchise. Ultraman: Rising was a fun ride that made fans hungry for more, but sadly it looks like sequels are not on Netflix plans. However, the streamer hasn't overlooked the talent of one of the movie's directors. John Aoshima has landed another massive gig inside the streamer's projects: he will helm one episode of the upcoming — and highly anticipated — Season 2 of the hit animated series Blue Eye Samurai.

The announcement hails from Deadline, which also revealed that the director will keep himself busy. In addition to the directing gig at Netflix, the filmmaker signed an exclusive multi-year overall development deal with Warner Bros. Animation. This means that Aoshima will be in charge of developing several feature animated projects from the studio, and he will also have the chance of directing projects that he feels inclined to.

Ketchup Entertainment Purchases Coyote Vs Acme From WB Discovery, Plans 2026 Global Release
Image
Ketchup Entertainment has acquired Coyote vs. Acme for $50 million, rescuing it from potential shelving by Warner Bros. Discovery for tax write-off purposes.

This follows their recent acquisition of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.

Following an extended period of intricate negotiations spanning several weeks, Ketchup Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery have reached a definitive agreement, ensuring that Coyote vs. Acme will see a theatrical release in 2026.

This resolution marks a significant turn in the film's trajectory, which had been clouded by uncertainty surrounding its release. The film, which reportedly carried a production budget of $70 million, became a subject of intense speculation after Warner Bros. Discovery considered shelving it for tax write-off purposes.

During the initial stages of discussions, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav reportedly aimed to recover the full $70 million production expenditure from potential acquiring studios.

However, the eventual deal, which saw Ketchup Entertainment secure the film for $50 million,...

There may be no recent entertainment news story more controversial than what happened to Coyote Vs Acme, the hybrid animated / live-action Looney Tunes movie that was supposed to come out in theaters in 2023. The film had massive buzz, with the few critics who saw it raving…but that seemed to mean nothing to new Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav, who needed quick cash to pay off the debt left over from previous owners AT&T. Despite Very public demand to release the film, Zaslav instead chose to shelve it and file a tax writeoff. Originally, three separate Looney Tunes movies were put into production by AT&T in 2019, intended for release on HBO Max: Coyote Vs. Acme, The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, and a third film called Bye-Bye Bunny which was never completed. The first two films were eventually graduated to WB’s theatrical schedule…and then removed.
