Seth MacFarlane The Naked Gun – Why He Cast Liam Neeson
Liam Neeson

Seth MacFarlane’s The Naked Gun reboot is one of the most ambitious projects of his career, bringing back the beloved comedy franchise for a new generation.

The original starred Leslie Nielsen as the hilariously deadpan Detective Frank Drebin. The Naked Gun films became cult classics thanks to outrageous sight gags, slapstick humor, and clever wordplay. Rebooting such a fan favorite was always going to be tricky. MacFarlane knew the secret was to respect the original while making it fresh for today’s audience.

He surrounded himself with a top-notch creative team behind the camera and searched for the perfect lead in front of it. Rather than cast a traditional comedy star, MacFarlane chose Liam Neeson, an Oscar-nominated actor best known for powerful dramas like Schindler’s List and action hits such as Taken.

Henry Cavill Dated Alexandra Daddario in 14% Rt Thriller That Toppled Tom Cruise on Streaming Charts
Image
The only movie that paired two Hollywood crushes, Henry Cavill and Alexandra Daddario, the 2018 thriller Night Hunter has shockingly climbed the Paramount+ streaming charts, overtaking Tom Cruise’s blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick.

Despite having a meager 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Cavill’s movie is now sitting pretty at #2 on the platform, while Cruise’s high-flying sequel slips to #3 (via Flixpatrol). It’s the kind of unexpected twist no one saw coming, especially since Night Hunter was barely noticed when it first released.

But now, after decades, the film is suddenly finding a new audience on Paramount+, and fans can’t stop talking about it online. Whatever might be the reason, the thriller’s streaming comeback is turning heads.

Henry Cavill and Alexandra Daddario’s Thriller Was Unfairly Slammed Upon Release

When Samuel L Jackson & Team Banished Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard Director From Set For This Hilarious Reason
Image
Why Was Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard Director Kicked Out Of Set By Samuel L. Jackson & Team?(Photo Credit –Prime Video)

In the chaotic yet comedic world of movie-making, unexpected bloopers are part of the drill, but what happens when the guy yelling “action!” becomes the main source of the disruption? That’s exactly what went down on the set of Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.

The director, Patrick Hughes, couldn’t stop cracking up during takes, so much so that the cast and crew resorted to kicking him out. The man was wheeled outside the studio mid-winter in the freezing cold. Why? Because Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds, and Salma Hayek were too hilarious for their own good.

Why Samuel L. Jackson & Crew Exiled Director Patrick Hughes From Set

Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard brought back Jackson and Reynolds as the chaotic duo Darius Kincaid and Michael Bryce. Hayek joined them as Sonia, creating a...

This Henry Cavill Thriller Just Beat Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick On Paramount+ & Nobody Saw It Coming!

Which Henry Cavill Thriller Took Over Top Gun: Maverick On Streaming? ( Photo Credit – Prime Video )

Henry Cavill is currently doing something unexpected on Paramount+. Night Hunter, a thriller he led years ago, is pulling in more views than Top Gun: Maverick, the Tom Cruise blockbuster that once dominated cinemas worldwide. Both actors shared the screen in Mission: Impossible—Fallout, but their films are now competing in a very different arena: streaming.

Night Hunter Becomes One Of The Most-Watched Titles On Paramount+

According to FlixPatrol, Night Hunter was the third most-watched title on the platform on August 5, 2025. It even outranked Top Gun: Maverick, which dropped into fourth. Novocaine, another action flick, and I’m Still Here, a Brazilian Oscar-winner, were sitting above both titles.

Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun Reboot Took a Wild Dig At One HBO Show’s Alum
Image
Liam Neeson is the last person to have an opinion on Sex and the City, but a promo of The Naked Gun reboot sees him call Samantha a strong word. Neeson replaced Leslie Nielsen in the iconic spoof comedy movie franchise, and though it was an unorthodox choice for the part, the very fact seems to be working for the movie.

The movie franchise thrives on stupid jokes told in a deadpan manner, and Neeson seems to have nailed the part. A scene with Paul Walter Hausen, a fellow cop on the same case, sees Neeson confuse the ‘Miranda Rights’ with ‘Miranda Writes’ and clarify that Carrie writes, Miranda is a lawyer, and (surprisingly) says, ‘Samantha is a h*e’.

The Naked Gun’s Biggest Franchise Callback Was Done To Avoid A “Death Knell” Studio Note, Writers Reveal
Image
Warning: Spoilers for The Naked GunThe Naked Gun is a joyful reboot-slash-legacy sequel that doesn’t require viewers to have seen the original trilogy of slapstick spoof films–and, apparently, that’s all thanks to a small act of rebellion by its writers. Directed by The Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer, the movie was co-written by him, Doug Mand, and Dan Gregor.

The movie is packed wall-to-wall with funny moments, but one of The Naked Gun’s most unexpected sequences involves Liam Neeson’s Frank Drebin, Jr. being carried through the air by an owl that is supposedly his father, the original Frank Drebin played by Leslie Nielsen.

As part of a larger ScreenRant interview discussing The Naked Gun, writers Doug Mand and Dan Gregor revealed how they landed on the idea of the original Frank Drebin appearing in owl form. It turns out that one of the movie’s...

'There's No Way': Liam Neeson Reveals The 1 Thing He Refused to Do for The Naked Gun Reboot
Image
Liam Neeson really went out on a limb with The Naked Gun reboot, his first (and hopefully not the last) comedy film. The actor recently revealed how much his performance was inspired by the Leslie Nielsen original.

Starring in a 90-minute comedy "was a bit of a tall order" for Liam Neeson, even though he's no stranger to the genre. Speaking to Variety, Neeson said the "comedic stuff" he dabbled in "were just TV skits" that were never more than a few minutes long. "But I did know that if push came to shove, and we did it, the script would be at least be good if [producer] Seth [MacFarlane] was involved because he's got a wicked sense of humor," he admitted. "If it's at the very least good, I shouldn't try to be funny. Just be serious. I knew there'd be lots of sight gags."

The Naked Gun 33 1/3: Does it deserve to be the least loved entry in the series?
Image
When the great Leslie Nielsen made the media rounds in 1996, promoting his James Bond spoof, Spy Hard, everyone wanted to know one thing. Was he shocked when O.J. Simpson was arrested for murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and Ron Goldman, and did he think he was guilty? Ever the Canadian gent, Nielsen retired the ever-present fart machine he enjoyed using in interviews, and tried to give a thoughtful answer. Basically, he said that the Oj he knew on set from the three Naked Gun movies they did together never gave him an inkling that he would be capable of murder, although, to read between the lines of his answer, it was clear Nielsen likely had serious doubts as to his innocence.

Indeed, when The Naked Gun 33 1/3rd came out on March 18th 1994, no one who went to see it – and I was one of them – would have ever thought that three months later,...

“Don’t mess with me”: Liam Neeson Threatened Studio for The Naked Gun in Taken Style to Greenlight
Image
Liam Neeson had no choice but to threaten Paramount Studios during a test run for The Naked Gun. Director Akiva Schaffer revealed that during a monologue, Neeson simply turned to the camera and started cursing the executives mid-take.

Of course, it was done under supervision by Akiva Schaffer himself, and that little segment became the reason why Paramount Pictures actually greenlit the production of the movie! Talking to Film Maker Magazine, Schaffer talked about that iconic monologue and how Neeson was just too good in it.

At the end of it, after Liam gets the criminal to break, he’s looking at the criminal—’Don’t mess with me’—then turns to the camera.

Schaffer continued,

‘That goes for you, too. Yes, you, the Paramount greenlight committee. I see you there. What the f*ck are you waiting for? Why don’t you get your pencil pushers to sign the line?...

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Star Liam Neeson Isn't A Fan Of Qui-Gon Jinn's "Namby-Pamby" Episode I Death
Image
Ahead of Obi-Wan Kenobi's release in 2022, the hope among Star Wars fans was that Liam Neeson might return as Qui-Gon Jinn. While the Jedi Master may have died at the hands of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, telling "Ben's" story without an appearance from his Force Ghost somehow felt...wrong.

Thankfully, Lucasfilm didn't disappoint, and the show's final scene saw Obi-Wan reunited with his fallen Master as the Jedi Master embarked on a new path.

Neeson has never shied away from his iconic role in the Star Wars franchise, and previously returned to lend his voice to Qui-Gon in The Clone Wars and The Rise of Skywalker. However, the actor has now confessed that he has a major issue with the Jedi Master's death at Maul's hands.

"I thought my death was a bit namby-pamby," The Naked Gun star admitted (via SFFGazette.com). "I was supposed to be a Master Jedi,...

Charlie Sheen Starred in One of Clint Eastwood’s Worst Movies That Almost Tried to Be The Naked Gun
Image
Clint Eastwood almost ran his career, along with that of Charlie Sheen, into the ground with a film titled The Rookie that neither flaunted his macho, gunslinger arc as an actor nor touted his Oscar-winning potential as a director.

In the 1980s, Clint Eastwood found it difficult to park his talents in an industry that was, on one hand, filled with big franchise sequels (T2: Judgment Day and Indiana Jones 3) and, on the other, sci-fi blockbusters (E.T. and Blade Runner). Consequently, he stepped into the ’90s with a buddy-cop flick that was supposed to be easy enough to impress the audience.

Instead, The Rookie has been branded as one of the worst Eastwood movies and an insult to his long-standing career as an auteur and award-winning filmmaker /Film].

Liam Neeson Gets ‘Naked’: Why He Joined ‘The Naked Gun’
Liam Neeson
Liam Neeson plays Frank Drebin Jr. in The Naked Gun from Paramount Pictures. © 2025 Paramount Pictures. All Rights Reserved

Liam Neeson is stepping into some legendary shoes with the new Naked Gun reboot. Much like Leslie Nielsen in the original films, the Zaz team — director David Zucker and co‑writers Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker — once transformed a dramatic actor into a comedic icon, and now Neeson is taking on that same challenge.

Now, history is repeating itself with Liam Neeson taking on the role of Frank Drebin Jr. in the new Naked Gun reboot. Like Nielsen before him, Neeson has built a career on drama and high‑octane action, but very little comedy. And, just as it did with Nielsen, playing against type makes Neeson’s performance even funnier than audiences might expect.

So why did the acclaimed actor choose to take on such an unexpected role at this point in his career?...

Are Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson Dating? ‘The Naked Gun’ Co-Stars Fuel Romance Rumors

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson aren’t exactly the kind of couple anyone saw coming. One’s an iconic blonde from the beachside slow-mo runs of Baywatch, the other’s a deep-voiced action hero with a very particular set of skills. On paper, their worlds don’t quite collide. But Hollywood has always had its own ways of writing love stories, both onscreen and off.

While Anderson’s past has been filled with headline-hitting romances and Neeson has kept things quietly under wraps since his heartbreaking loss more than a decade ago, a new buzz is now swirling around them. They’ve teamed up for The Naked Gun, and let’s just say, something more than just professional chemistry might be brewing behind the scenes.

Machine Gun Kelly Claims He Was “Supposed” To Audition For ‘Sinners’ But Wouldn’t Say N-Word
Image
Although Sinners has landed among the top box office releases of 2025 so far, Machine Gun Kelly had his reasons for passing up a role in the film.

The Grammy nominee recently claimed he was “supposed to” audition to play a vampire in writer/director Ryan Coogler‘s critically-acclaimed supernatural period piece about two brothers taking on blood-sucking neighbors in the South.

“Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that,” said Kelly on The Pat McAfee Show, according to Billboard. “The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition — it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it.”

Original ‘Naked Gun’ Director Claims That Paramount Lied to Reboot Filmmakers About His Involvement
Image
The new Liam Neeson-starring take on The Naked Gun is earning rave reviews, either because that movie’s just that good, or film critics are all secretly in the pocket of Big Spoof.

But one person who won’t be watching the new movie is David Zucker, the director of the original Naked Gun, and to a far lesser extent, that movie in which the ghost of General Patton scares a Michael Moore lookalike into loving ‘merica.

Zucker has been highly critical of the reboot in the press, telling Fox News that “just being a fan” of the earlier movies doesn’t guarantee success. He’s also stated that he will never see the new film because he’s “not going to spend any time on it.”

In a new interview with The Telegraph, Zucker confirmed that he still has no plans to see 2025’s Naked Gun, likening it to a previous,...

Liam Neeson on Not Rewatching ‘Naked Gun’ Films, Why the World Needs Silly Movies and Ending His Action Star Era: ‘I’m 73, for F—’s Sake’
Image
More than 30 years after the “Naked Gun” franchise enjoyed its “Final Insult” in 1994, arguably the world’s most beloved slapstick spoof film series is back for another slice of straight-faced silliness — and to test the contemporary box office waters of big-screen comedy.

Leslie Nielsen, whose legendary turn as bumbling L.A. detective Frank Drebin still has fans merrily reciting his most famous lines, died in 2010. For Paramount’s new reboot “The Naked Gun,” out Aug. 1, Liam Neeson has been recruited to follow in the Canadian icon’s deadpan footsteps as his equally incompetent (but decidedly less silver-haired) detective son, Frank Drebin Jr.

Also starring Pamela Anderson and directed and co-written by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer, the legacy sequel to the original three films is awash in visual gags, absurd one-liners, terrible driving, comically Ott action scenes, sexual innuendo, at least one montage featuring an angry snowman and more...

"I Was A Tiny Bit Embarrassed": Liam Neeson Candidly Reflects On His $932M Action Franchise
Image
Liam Neeson gets candid about leading Taken’s action franchise while promoting The Naked Gun. The actor is known for his commanding on-screen presence, starring in films such as Schindler's List, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and Batman Begins. However, Neeson has also shown a more light-hearted side in films like Love Actually alongside various comedy movie cameos.

Recently, Neeson has caused a stir with his latest movie, The Naked Gun, an action comedy serving as a legacy sequel and the fourth film in The Naked Gun franchise. In fact, 2025’s The Naked Gun debuted with a fantastic Rotten Tomatoes score, scoring 90%. However, that hasn’t stopped Neeson from reflecting on his most iconic action movie role.

In a New York Timesinterview, Neeson looked back on his defining role in Taken, stating, “I was a tiny bit embarrassed. Don’t get me wrong, I did love the script.

The Naked Gun Review: One of the Funniest Movies in Years
Liam Neeson
Plot: Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) runs afoul of an evil tech genius (Danny Huston) while being aided by a mysterious femme fatale (Pamela Anderson).

Review: I did something I hadn’t done in a long time at the early screening of The Naked Gun I attended earlier this week — I laughed myself silly in a movie theatre. It’s been years since I’ve seen a movie this funny theatrically, and boy did I miss the sound of a theatre full of people cackling so loud I occasionally missed a joke. I’ve missed comedy, and this was a really good one.

I’ll admit, I was wary of a Naked Gun reboot. I love the original movies (even the much-maligned third), but it’s been a while since anyone did a laugh-a-minute spoof like this. That said, director Akiva Schaffer turned out to be the right guy to tackle the formula.

Image
Henry Cavill’s Period Drama Returns To Streaming(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Henry Cavill’s name has been drawing attention again after being replaced as Superman by David Corenswet but his earlier work is finding a fresh audience. Nearly two decades ago, he appeared in The Tudors, a historical drama that has returned to streaming charts. Cavill shared the screen with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Anthony Brophy in the story of a young king consumed by his pursuit of a male heir.

All four seasons are now available on Prime Video and Paramount+ in the United States, while the show is trending internationally in places like the Netherlands and Taiwan, per Collider. Critics gave it a respectable 69 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences pushed it to 84 percent, with Season 3 often regarded as the standout at an impressive 90 percent.

The Naked Gun End Credits Pays Homage To One Of The Original Show's Most Famous Jokes
Image
This article contains spoilers for "The Naked Gun."

It almost seemed like a grave mistake to revive a long dormant franchise whose comedic identity revolves around the impossible-to-recreate screen presence of Leslie Nielsen, but rest assured, it's a glorious new day for "The Naked Gun" series. In the Akiva Schaffer-directed reboot of the same name, Liam Neeson embraces his sillier side as Frank Drebin Jr., the equally destructive offspring of Nielsen's character. After spending the latter half of his film career playing older tough guys, Neeson gets to channel that energy into an incredibly funny performance that honors his cinematic daddy without outright copying him. His comedic turns in "The Lego Movie," "A Million Ways to Die in the West" and a scene-stealing cameo in "Ted 2" were all warm-ups for a film that could easily guide Neeson into the next phase of his career. But he's not...

‘The Naked Gun’: What the Critics Are Saying
Image
Paramount’s new iteration of The Naked Gun, starring Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the late Leslie Nielsen’s Frank Drebin, and Pamela Anderson, is getting mostly positive reviews from critics ahead of its Friday theatrical release.

The fourth film in the franchise, coming more than 30 years after the last movie, 1994’s Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, was directed by Akiva Schaffer, who wrote the screenplay with Dan Gregor and Doug Maud. Like the team behind the Nielsen-starring Naked Gun films, David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams, Schaffer is part of a comedy trio, in this case The Lonely Island. Previous films in the series include 1988’s The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! and 1991’s The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear.

The new Naked Gun‘s cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser, Cch Pounder, Kevin Durand,...

David Corenswet in SUPER/MAN: THE CHRISTOPHER REEVE STORY IS POWERFUL!! MOVIE REVIEW! (2024)
Liam Neeson’s The Naked Gun is expected to cuff $15 million for its box office debut as The Fantastic Four holds strong
David Corenswet in SUPER/MAN: THE CHRISTOPHER REEVE STORY IS POWERFUL!! MOVIE REVIEW! (2024)
It may be Superhero Summer with movies like Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps dominating the box office charts, but one of the steamy season’s most anticipated comedies, The Naked Gun, is ready to rake in millions for the genre. According to analysts, The Naked Gun is targeting a $15-$17 million debut from 3,300 locations. The amount is a decent bit of scratch for a rebooted comedy, especially as the genre struggles at the box office. As Liam Neeson points out in a recent Naked Gun PSA, comedy films don’t perform in theaters like they used to, and if we want movies like The Naked Gun not only to exist, but succeed, we need to show up to the cinema when it counts.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Naked Gun:

“Only one man has the particular set of skills… to lead Police Squad and save the world!

‘The Naked Gun’ Review: Liam Neeson Skewers Himself in an Engaging Goofball Grab Bag of a Reboot That Rarely Shocks You Into Laughter
Image
Early on in the new version of “The Naked Gun,” there’s a moment that gives you that old “Naked Gun” feeling. Sgt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson), a veteran L.A. cop of unorthodox methods, has just surveyed the scene of a fatal car crash that may have involved foul play. It’s time for the wrecked car to be hauled away, so to accomplish that task they use a vehicle attached to what looks like a giant version of one of those mechanical claws in an arcade game. The claw lifts the car halfway up and then, at the crucial moment, drops it. The joke is that Drebin and his colleagues all let out a disappointed “Ohhhhhh!,” the way a million parents have when the claw guided by their 7-year-old drops the plushie toy it’s trying to hoist (as happens just about every time). In its patented absurdity,...

The Naked Gun, a legacy sequel of the classic spoof-comedy franchise of the same name, is set to hit the theatres this week. The new movie, starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson in lead roles, aims to revive the beloved franchise with a fresh cast and modern jokes while paying homage to the original’s legacy.

In the reboot, Neeson plays Lt Frank Deblin Jr., the bumbling son of the original detective, while Anderson portrays Beth Davenport, the femme fatale and Deblin’s sharp-tongued partner. Her character pays homage to the role of Priscilla Presley from the original film. Alongside the lead cast, the movie also stars Paul Walter Hauser as Capt. Ed Hocken.

Charlie Sheen Blamed “Deep Partying” For the Chemical Imbalances in His Brain Leading To Manic Episodes
Image
For a character whose whole identity revolved around being a bottomless drunk, Charlie Harper rarely faced the consequences of his problematic lifestyle, which wasn’t surprising as at the end of the day, it was just a sitcom. On the flip side, Charlie Sheen, who led a similar lifestyle, often found himself in the media crosshairs, and it’s not hard to see why.

At one point, certain experts speculated that Harper’s manic outbursts, which contributed to his firing from Two and a Half Men, might’ve been a result of a psychological disorder, and Sheen himself later acknowledged this concern.

Jordana Mollick, Mike Farah & Joe Farrell Talk Future Of Comedy On The Big Screen – Avp Summit
Image
As Paramount gears up for the theatrical release of its The Naked Gun revival in August, the future of scripted comedy was under scrutiny at the Avp Summit producers’ event in northern Italy on Wednesday.

Former Paramount exec Gary Lucchesi, who oversaw the production of the original The Naked Gun movies in the 1990s, chaired the talk, having suggested the topic on the basis of his own desire to see comedies back on the big screen again.

He was joined by The Idea Of You producer Jordana Mollick, co-founder of comedy-focused Semi-Formal Productions with filmmaker Michael Showalter; former Funny or Die execs Mike Farah and Joe Farrell, who now work as independent producers, as well as Italian producer Verdiana Bixio, whose company Publispei is currently filming a reboot of the popular comedy show I Cesaroni.

Liam Neeson & Seth MacFarlane Dig Into The Hilarity Of The New Naked Gun In Exclusive BTS Clip
Image
The cast and creatives behind The Naked Gun wanted to bring back the energy of the Leslie Nielsen classic for a new generation. Directed by The Lonely Island's Akiva Schaffer and Executive Produced by Seth MacFarlane, The Naked Gun introduces Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's Frank and the successor to his role as an officer in Police Squad. Played by Liam Neeson, Frank Jr. is a chip off the old block — quickly proving to be as silly, unpredictable, and chaotic as his father.

In a BTS promotional clip for the movie released exclusively on Screen Rant, Schaffer and MacFarlane reflect on the legacy of the original Naked Gun films and bringing that comedic sensibility to 2025. In the clip, Schaffer described Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson as the perfect stars to infuse the absurd broad comedy with the right amount of gravitas to seal the joke.

Christopher McQuarrie’s Thriller That Turns 30 Is Proof That Tom Cruise Can Win an Oscar With Him
Image
30 years ago, The Usual Suspects arrived in theaters and drove pop culture completely wild with its mad genius. Written by Christopher McQuarrie, Suspects won him an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay while Kevin Spacey won another for Best Supporting Actor.

Meanwhile, whoever said it takes two to tango must not have met Tom Cruise. The powerhouse actor is single-handedly capable of reviving the cinematic industry through sweat, blood, and tears. There isn’t a single genre that Cruise has not indulged himself in, and continues to remain marvelous as ever in every single one of them.

The only thing now missing is an Oscar to make his career complete. And it looks like that, too, will be an easy task for the eclectic star, considering his current relationship with McQuarrie.

Helldivers 2 Players Can Cast Their Votes To Rename A City But The Dumbest Name Is Probably Going To Win
Image
Helldivers 2 players are exercising their right to vote, but the results are predictably dumb so far. The Super Earth megacity of Remembrance has been rebuilt following its destruction during the Illuminate invasion, which has also resulted in a wacky Warbond on the horizon. With a new dawn coming for the restored megacity, the Ministry of Truth has put its new name to a vote.

Ever diligent in their roleplaying as the Ministry of Truth, the developers at Arrowhead Game Studios have opened a new channel on the official HelldiversDiscord server with the express purpose of voting on a new name for Remembrance now that it "will be reborn." Players have five options when voting for a new megacity name: New Remembrance, Everlasting Memory, Peacebeacon's Bloodlight, Winds of Change of Tides of War, and Gun. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gun has taken an enormous lead, racking up nearly four times as many votes...

“She basically risked her career…”: Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie’s Silly Move With Its Female Characters Isn’t Sitting Right With Fans
Image
Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie had everything going for it: star power, sport at peak hype, and real grid footage. While the engines roared, many fans couldn’t help but stare at the way the film handles its female characters. Kerry Condon’s Kate McKenna had promise as F1: The Movie‘s first female tech director, until she was reduced to a one-night stand with Pitt’s washed-up racer. Yep, and fans can’t stop to bash her character’s arc, stating,

She basically risked her career to have an affair with a guy who wasn’t going to stay for longer than a season.

And it’s not just McKenna, every female role in F1: The Movie feels like a checkbox. And honestly, given it’s Pitt’s movie and comparing it to his other movies, especially Top Gun: Maverick, where Monico Barbaro’s Phoenix was a standout,...

4 best Star Trek episodes featuring Pavel Chekov
Image
We Star Trek fans always end up having a favorite character, no matter which series we watch. Some seek out the uncommon alien, such as Spock, Neelix, or Quark, while others enjoy the fallibility of human characters, like the original series Enterprise navigator, Pavel Chekov.

Chekov joined the Enterprise crew in season two of the original series to bring a sense of youth and playfulness to the bridge, and to draw in younger viewers (especially teenage girls). He had some great moments, so let’s take a look at four episodes where our resident Russian stood out, made us laugh, and even showed us his softer side.

1. “The Gamesters of Triskelion”

In “The Gamesters of Triskelion” (S02E16), Kirk, Chekov, and Uhura find themselves whisked away to a strange planet where beings called “The Providers” capture people and aliens from all over the galaxy and force them to fight each...

Simone Ashley’s F1 Scene Was Cut Short, Just Like This Star Wars Actor’s Role in Top Gun: Maverick(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 feature F1 roared into cinemas recently, gathering strong traction for its adrenaline-packed racing visuals and high-profile cast. However, off-track, conversations have shifted to who didn’t get much time on screen. Bridgerton fame, Simone Ashley, was originally tapped for a notable role beside Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, and Javier Bardem.

At the very least, the F1 director has no taste because what do you mean you left Simone Ashley and Manny Jacinto—two of the most beautiful people to ever walk the Earth—on the cutting room floor? Cinematic malpractice!! pic.twitter.com/nipsgjFSVx

How The Naked Gun Reboot Director Convinced Seth MacFarlane The Spoof Would Work Again
Image
Filmmakers like Mel Brooks and the trio of David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker (also known as Zaz) once made spoofs the cream of the comedy crop with hits like "Young Frankenstein," "Blazing Saddles," "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun." Sadly, the popularity of "Scary Movie," a truly great horror parody from 2000 that followed in similar footsteps and kicked off a franchise of its own, resulted in a swath of far worse copycats from two of the film's co-writers, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. "Date Movie," "Epic Movie," "Disaster Movie," "Vampires Suck," and more all tried to cash-in on spoofing popular blockbusters of the time, but the comedy left plenty to be desired, and the poor reception essentially killed the greatness and the appeal of spoof comedy — at least for a little while.

Thankfully, there have still been bright spots in the years since, such as the music biopic-skewering "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,...

The Naked Gun Brings Pamela Anderson Full Circle After She Nearly Starred In Original Trilogy
Image
For her next role, Pamela Anderson is cutting loose. Earlier this year, the actor made a major comeback with a stellar turn in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, displaying significant dramatic chops and entering awards consideration. Soon, though, she’s trading seriousness for silliness in The Naked Gun, starring opposite Liam Neeson in Akiva Schaffer’s reboot-quel. While Neeson is playing Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen’s original cop, Anderson is Beth – a femme fatale who has Drebin investigating the murder of her brother.

For Anderson, starring in a Naked Gun film is something of a full-circle moment – since she nearly made an appearance in the original trilogy decades ago, in 1994’s The Naked Gun 33 1/3. “The part that Anna Nicole [Smith] played, I almost played,” Anderson reveals to Empire. “It was just scheduling. I couldn’t do it. But it’s good: I’d rather play this role.
