Works with their restraints and manages to tell a new type of ghost story while being funny and keeping in the horror tradition of a sprinkle of social commentary.
You have to know this is an extremely low budget horror movie with amateurish acting and barely any plot. You understand that, right? Because none of that should be surprising to anyone who chooses to watch something like this. Dogface doesn't do anything original or memorable, but it is entertaining enough. The story makes no sense, but it's still fun to see the characters get freaked out by all the crazy stuff that goes on. Also, I enjoyed the dialog. Easy enough to watch once.
I'm glad there's more creative Black Americans horror movies. Watch movie with a modern day perspective....the actors and actresses portraying different characters shows the range of their superb acting abilities and creativity.
Not so scary. Not so well made, written, acted or directed. It feels like a school project. A man buys a house on the cheap; comes to find out 30 years ago the owner killed his wife and their 20 dogs. When our hero moves in, guess what? It's haunted! The best things about this movie is the cast each plays two parts, one part as a person and one part as a ghost; the other best thing is the beautiful golden Atlanta dome.
There's true effort put into to this movie. It's not a great movie but it's funny both because of the B movie stuff but also some of the jokes. There was clearly a budget and thought put into the script and production. The delivery is 'eh' and plot kind of hard to follow, but there's some genuine surprises.
It gives Jordan Peele meets American Horror Story.
The language and writing of the script sounds like a decent representation of AAVE and some of there's a lot of cultural references. This was someone's big debut and it's kind of ok. I'd watch this writer and directors work in the future to see if they get another chance with a bigger budget and resources.
