I, Caesar: The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Good series. Covers a lot of detail. They do not cover too little or too much. It's covered in a way that I found it very easy to understand and remember the characters. I'm familiar with so many of these characters from so many productions but this really brings it together. It also covers in thorough but tactful manner some details that could be rather disgusting. I kind of like the fact that they get past Caligula very quickly as I know that story and it was not pertinent to the series. From Julius Caesar to Constantine I have a much better understanding.

"I, Caesar" is a largely traditional documentary overview of some of the key representative milestones in the history of the Roman Empire. The overall content is good, although some of the finer points are starting to show their age from the viewpoint of modern scholarship. The presentation style itself is fairly pedestrian, especially by contemporary standards, but watchable enough. Note that the "18+" or "TV-14" rating assigned by some streaming services for "I, Caesar" is difficult to understand, since none of the purported "nudity", "sexual content", or "violence" (or anything like it) seems to be present (unless you count classical artwork, perhaps); the entire series could be presented to sixth graders without raising any eyebrows (assuming that the students could keep their eyes open).
