Never Better

I was very worried about where this movie was going to go, but it felt to me (an able-bodied person) like a thoughtful portrayal of the frustrations and anxiety disabled people have been expressing during the COVID pandemic.

I found Sofia Bryant's performance really touching and relatable, especially in the way she's always trying to down play her illness and struggles in order not to freak out both herself and those around her. And how people who don't know her (or don't try to know her) take it as a sign that she is not actually struggling. Beyond the disability aspect, it felt very true to my own experience as a black woman, on how we sometimes cannot really afford vulnerability.

Also Terese is just a fun character and it was nice to spend time with her and her thoughts, especially with such a slick cinematography to accompany her.

My only two issues with this movie would be: First, Amanda. I felt like the movie was a little too lenient with her in the end, not completely putting the blame on Terese for here irresponsibility throughout the movie, (thank god!) but still slightly blaming her for not opening up more. As if Amanda couldn't do a google search.

Second, I feel like the financial aspect should have come into play, especially since so many people lost their jobs all around the world because of COVID and high risk people having to work, sometimes dangerous jobs and put themselves in danger because of that has been discussed at length. I'm sure this could have also been addressed in the same serious but light way other issues have been.

Still, I strongly recommend this movie, I had a great time watching it and I'm sure other people will too.

As I sat down to watch the 2022 comedy drama "Never Better", I did so without ever having heard about the movie. I stumbled upon it by random chance, and the movie's synopsis did appeal to me. It seemed like this movie could actually prove to be an interesting watch.

Well, I will say that the 2022 movie "Never Better" from writer and director Julianne Fox actually manages to capture the essence of the way a lot of us were thinking and what we were experiencing while the Covid-19 pandemic was on its highest. So writer and director Julianna Fox did a good job with this movie.

The storyline was well-written, especially since the main character Terese (played by Sofia Bryant) deals with issues that many of us have gone through during this recent worldwide pandemic. So the movie had lots of relatable elements to it, and that is part of what makes "Never Better" all the more enjoyable and realistic to watch.

The acting performances in the movie were good. I wasn't familiar with a single performer on the cast list, but I will say that they did put on good acting performances throughout the course of the movie. It felt very realistic and they came off as being actual people, and that worked well in favor of the movie. It is a movie with a small cast ensemble, but the cast managed to carry the movie quite well.

There are lots of movies out there cashing in on the recent worldwide pandemic, but "Never Better" is actually one that is worth spending time on watching, as it doesn't take the pandemic and turn it into something exaggerated, or turning people into zombies and what not - yeah, there are movies out there where Covid-19 turns people into zombies.

I was genuinely entertained by the movie and felt like I was right there alongside Terese throughout her isolation and quarantine. So thumbs up to writer and director Julianne Fox.

My rating of "Never Better" lands on a six out of ten stars.

I was hesitant about whether I was ready to revisit the pandemic, but I came across this debut film from writer/director Julianne Fox and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did.

The storyline is compelling and the raw honesty of the film helps one process their own feelings and thoughts about their individual experience with COVID without being soapy or dramatic or damn depressing.

I believe Gen Z is going to save us all and this film only supports my theory.

Hmm.. Well, I thought the acting was superb and the main character a very sweet person.

The condition CF is something I know very little about so from that perspective I found it informative. However, I don't buy into the pandemic and it was just another scare mongering movie which I object to. Note that NONE of the group contracted COVID either, despite be regularly tested. With so many false positives that's quite remarkable really.

I know you won't all agree with me on this issue but hey, it's my opinion.

Anyway, I enjoyed watching it to an extent. In years to come it might become a footnote in history.
