Peacemaker was every bit as good as I had hoped for. I'm case you were wondering this takes place immediately after The Suicide Squad and much like The Suicide Squad, this is absolutely a show for adults with all the violence, language, etc and I loved every second of it. John Cena has come so far as an actor, he continues to get better and has followed The Rock to be another A list actor from the wrestling world! Gunn definitely put his stamp on this having written all 8 episodes and directing 5. If you're looking for a great action Superhero show that will make you laugh out loud then this is the show for you. Can't wait til Season 2!

I can't believe how much I loved Peacemaker! I've been looking forward to this ever since I first heard about it. I actually binged the entire first season over the a weekend. John Cena is a bonafide star now. He's so good in this, even better than he was in Suicide Squad. James Gunn has hit another home run with Peacemaker. It seems that every single thing Gunn touches is great. I read that he's taken over as the co head of DC studios. That's the best news to happen to DC in a long time. I'm sure he'll do a great job. Peacemaker has everything you want in a good superhero show...it has action, drama, comedy, twists, etc. I can not recommend this show enough.

Season 1 review (9/10):
I loved 2021's Suicide Squad, but if you'd asked me who from the movie I would give their own series, Peacemaker would probably have been my last choice. Not that John Cena wasn't good, but who'd want to be stuck with that guy week after week?
But the brilliant James Gunn pulled it off. This Peacemaker is a surprisingly complex character with a backstory that puts his flaws *somewhat* in perspective, and also the series is hilarious and way out there (the opening credits are a first rate dance number).
The story is great, the action is great, there are terrific performances, more touching moments than you would expect, and a lot of amazing action sequences.
Highly recommended.
Season 2 review (7/10): Season 2 has the same excellent performances, plenty of action, and excellent performances. At times it's great. But it's vastly inferior to season 1. Even the opening dance number is inferior!
Much of the problem is this season is so trauma infused. Season 1 established that Peacemaker has a brutal backstory, but season 2 is almost exclusively devoted to that trauma - how it started, what it led to, and the impossible dream of rectification.
And that makes the season a bummer. In season 1 the trauma was background to action and plot, but here that's reversed, and it's tough going. And while the series picks up towards the end, the final episode ends so badly that I had to write a review of that episode going into how bad it was.
Much of it is still good, but there's a lot wrong with it.

The opening sequence is the best I've ever seen. Its so hypnotic I never skip intro.
This show is uncomfortably hilarious and easily one of the best superhero shows ever.
Peacemaker wasn't a stand out character in The Suicide Squad for me, so I wasn't that excited for this series, however after watching the show, seeing the character development and intriguing story line, I'm glad I decided to give it a go, I cant wait for the second season.
The casting is perfect. I LOVE vigilante, I hope S2 brings even more psychotic behaviour from him. His back story in the 1983 comic would make a great story line and help views understand why he is so messed up, and I wonder if we will het to meet 'Stuff' the Chinatown Kid.

This show is right up there with my favorite superhero film series of all time, Guardians of the Galaxy, coincidently also written and directed by the brilliant and crazy like-minded James Gunn. But what makes this show so addictively watchable and entertaining, is the award-worthy insanely funny and perfect performance by Cena. I can't see anyone else pulling this off as well as he did. This guy legit is a skilled actor, whether it's his action performances, emotional displays, or his perfect comedic timing and deadpan delivery. I mean wow, I'm hooked!
At first I was wtf is this, especially the opening credit's dancing, then as I grew to know the characters better, and seeing Cena do things that I'd never thought I'd see filmed, I realized how genius and different this series was, and the more I watched, the more I wanted.
I waited until all 8 episodes were released, and binged, and am glad I did. I may have lost interest or got too anxious in between releases, but in binging, I was glued to the TV and wanted more antics and craziness and I couldn't stop. I was addicted! Had I had to wait for the next episode a week later, I'd have withdrawals - it hooks you in that good!
This is Gunn's greatest creation, and Cena's greatest performance, and it was pulled off with a low budget, so I can't wait till HBO throws money at Gunn for the next season due to its critical success. Everything on this show was near perfection; Gunn's directing and writing, all casting and performances - what a bunch of characters! The cinematography, visuals and S/VFX spot on. Eagly is my new favorite sidekick! And Gunn's choice of the soundtrack and score - amazing! I will be buying that soundtrack when available for sure!
I applaud everyone involved in this little gem we all didn't know we wanted, but needed - a refreshing change in the typical superhero genre. It's a well deserved 9/10 from me, and I'm already having withdrawals, so get onto the next season ASAP ladies and gentlemen, I'll be re-watching the current episodes until then.

DC is finding its lane as the anti, non family friendly, comedically dark (or just dark dark) alternative to Marvel and I'm here for it. Gunn continues on his raunchy, goofy take on super heroes and while I guarantee it won't be everyone's cup of tea I believe it will be a smart move in the long run to go full on with the dark, more adult adaption of comics to contrast with Marvels increasingly Disneyfied approach.

A great dysfunctional set of characters with a cool eagle and cool visuals! :-) Hilarious irreverent humor delivered perfectly by John Cena! :-) It also has a good set of supporting cast!

Season 1 was much more exciting. Season 2's story was no where close to as intriguing as season 1. There were some good elements but the long build up didn't have the payoff I was hoping for. I thought the acting improved, and there were great character moments. However, the story disappointed, finale could have been multiple episodes.
Season 1= 9/10 Season 2= 7/10.

All of season 1 plot and writing was so funny and enjoyable. All of season 2 felt like a subpar mid season development. S1 9/10- S2 4/10.
This forced rush DCEU using peacemaker as the bridge fell so short on enjoyable atmosphere. Everything in season 2 was very dissatisfying. Forced cringe dialogue through the entirety of it all.

Wow! I was Not expecting This! John Cena just blew me away with his likeability and just some of the funniest
comedy I have seen since I can remember in such a show..The only other with such irreverant, side splitting ,raunchy laughs is The Boys.
His character was fun in the movie role ,but man, give this guy his own show and he just hits a home run!
Im only 1 episode in but I love it!

Peacemaker Season 2 was a disappointing slog that sacrificed a contained, compelling narrative for the sake of setting up the broader DC Universe. The season suffered from major pacing issues, with many viewers and critics noting that episodes felt like filler and the plot meandered for too long without substantial developments. Fan-favorite characters like Vigilante were sidelined, and the humor, a highlight of the first season, often fell flat and felt repetitive, relying heavily on the same gags and an overuse of hair metal music montages. The finale, in particular, was criticized for failing to provide a satisfying resolution to the season's main conflicts, instead culminating in a frustrating cliffhanger that felt more like a prologue for future projects than an earned conclusion to Peacemaker's story.

We all know how great James Gunn can be, with both his Guardians of the galaxy movies being some of the strongest entries in the MCU. But with Peacemaker this is James Gunn's style cranked to the max, which might not be for the best.
The strongest aspect of the show is easily John Cena; he is fully dedicated to the role of Peacemaker and whenever he's on screen there's always something to appreciate. Peacemaker's relationship with his father is the centre of the show and by the end he has undergone a strong character arc.
The main problem with the show is the writing; the show is trying so hard to be funny and it's borderline unbearable at points. The show does this think where a joke is said and then they beat you to death with that same joke. It's painful to watch at points. Constant references which I just can't stand. Side characters like "dye beard" and Adebayo are unbearable as well (I don't know if it's the performances or the writing that's to blame). Rarely can the show take itself seriously or let a moment breathe. The writing really got on my nerves.
The first episode is somewhat strong and the last episode brings it back up, but that in between was a struggle at points. The show does have its moments in the in between but it's overshadowed by insufferable writing.
The action is great and has energy. James Gunn is a master at choosing appropriate soundtracks and the music here is fitting. The intro is also great.
Maybe the problem is James Gunn's writing doesn't fit a tv show. The central drama and plot is what held me and the show does have a lot of potential. With a tighter script for season 2 there's still hope for Peacemaker.

Season 1: Great, 10/10, no notes.
Season 2: I have never been to hibachi restaurant but i feel like Peacemaker Season 2 felt like what it would feel like if the chef would therw a bunch of stuff in the air and while i was waiting for him to catch them mid air and do something cool with them they would just fall to the ground while he was telling me a crude joke.

Maybe cause I'm a huge James Gunn fan and loved The Suicide Squad movie I appreciate this series for what it is. I don't get the complains about the writing it's pretty solid maybe to much profanity otherwise it's brilliant and flows well! The music, cinematography, and humor and exciting vibes is all superb at least I'm excited for more; plus I crave anything woke I never understand the ones that bash brilliant/bold shows or movies.

Terrific first ep. I didn't like his character at all in the movie but Cena shines here. Some really funny stuff and a spectacular fight at the end. The other characters including Eagly are immensely entertaining to watch. Hats off to all involved. Looking forward to the rest of eps.

...I'm not a John Cena fan... at all... and I didn't like The Suicide Squad movie, especially the Peacemaker character, that came across as an unbelievable dumb caricature.
But this show (based off the first 3 episodes released) is actually very good indeed.
It's a crazy, no holds barred thrill ride... and it is FUNNY.
Not to mention the soundtrack, which is just awesome!
It reminds me of the excellent Happy! Show in style and form, though a little less cartoonish (no pun intended).
If it keeps up this quality, it may just be one of the best superhero shows ever made.
For now, a solid 8... with expectations for more.
I highly recommend it.
Edit:
After watching the whole first season, I have upgraded it to a 10.
It truly is one of the funniest and best superhero shows ever made - I can't wait for season 2.
EAGLY FTW!

- and whatever James Gunn did to John Cena, to make him to explore the character in depth and make it less shallow, is actually working.

It is so cool to see a bold, crazy show running up nowadays. I really miss the old days when no one cared about who you offend with your movie/series, and this show brings back that feeling. Hats off to James Gunn for this.

Funny well written and entertaining
Cena is hilarious in his superhero role his banter between some of the other characters is funny af.
The soundtrack of 90s glam rock is fantastic and if you grew up listening to that stuff makes it even better .
Worth a watch not for kids under a certain age .

The first season was vastly original with actually funny comedy. The second season just completely off the rails. More multiversal bs with no funny jokes. The team bonding in the first season was lovable, where as the second they all are super annoying and just tried to f each other the most possible. Honestly thus far, DC is a mess. They had something going towards the end but nope let's just hand the keys to James Gun to write fan fiction about his wife with John Cena. Train wreck.

When I watched the first season of Peacemaker I thought it was a funny, bloody, yet charming twist on the modern superhero show. It suffered from cringey moments and a lower budget but had a lot of upside. In Season 2 those problems are still there - but also with a new weakness in the story that brings this show down as a whole.
Season 2 is ripe with awesome/funny moments, but also with episodes that are flat out dull and character arcs or story decisions that are just plain annoying. It's story goes from an outerspace threat to a small and personal melodrama with really no consequences at the end of the day. It ends on a cliff hanger with some of the worse visual effects in the new DC era. Also the soundtrack is so BAD for season 2. They spam the same 2 or 3 artists with some covers and new original songs and they are so bad.
It is worth a watch if you want to be up to date on the new DC universe. But if not, I would skip for the whacky season 2 of ups and downs.
