Did I get your attention?
Honestly, the only bad thing about this series is that it's going to end soon (sad) but... (if you are curious go head over to the official accounts of the ideafirst company and find out for yourself)
The best way to describe this series is that it's RIGHT IN YOUR FACE FANTASTIC PERIOD!
Found this series by chance and luck, considering that at that time, it was about to premiere and I must say it's one of those moments of finding something great that you just want everyone to know about.
This series is a take on the BL genre which includes the not so usual - usual tropes - that you see on a BL but is given a new depth of feeling for the audience to consume. I must say, the Filipino way of courting as portrayed in this series is to some degree - pretty accurate and is given justice by the two main lead Elijah Canlas as Cairo and Kokoy de Santos as Gavreel.
Another commendable aspect of the series is the way it is relatable to the present time, literally the first thing that popped into my mind is how timely and relevant this series is. The whole feel of the series revolves around the "new normal", utilizing video calls as the primary form of communication, you would expect the lack of feelings or chemistry between the characters but in my defense it's this very exact drawback of shooting through video calls that makes their emotions shine more, the feelings portrayed by the characters are very well received through the other end of the viewer's screen. Sitting through every episode will literally make you feel that you are there and that you are not watching it as an audience but rather as another person that is part of the conversation. To put it simply, it's right in your face when it hits.
The series is well received internationally, a major factor I believe, of why the series has reached international audiences is the fact that it is a breath of fresh air and also the underlying fact that the huge following that it created has spread the news like wildfire. In a way, it is peculiar to international audiences but very familiar to Filipino ones, needless to say it does make you feel all the right stuff at all the right moment. So if you are a person that loves to watch reaction videos just to make sense of your own feelings, then GAMEBOYS should definitely be on your watch list since it does not have a shortage of reaction videos that you will surely be able to relate to.
With a promising end to Episode 1, the series is gaining more momentum with each succeeding episode and without a doubt it won't be stopping any time soon. With the series being based upon an original script and not an already existing novel, each episode will definitely leave you breathless and will consume every ounce of your imagination just thinking of what the possible outcomes are but as they say within the GAMEBOYS community, leave it to sir Ash to surprise you.
This I can guarantee you, the series is not a stranger to a great script nor is it lacking of well-written character arcs, you'll definitely fall in love with baby Cai Lazaro, the ever so forward yet dashing Gavreel Alarcon, the unbothered queen Pearl Gatdula and probably the devilish TERRENCE Carreon? (we'll see TERRENCE... we'll see).
One thing is for certain, you're missing out on a great journey if you haven't started watching yet. I personally like this series and is easily one of my favorite up to date. If you consider the fair share of BL's I've watched so far then I can proudly say that what I have stated so far is nothing short of a FACT.
This review might come out too strong or biased but wait till you see yourself finish watching the episodes and afterwards heading here to write your own review. So, let me welcome you now in hopes that whoever is reading this is going to be a part of the THIRDWHEELS family.

After watching the Love of Siam in 2007, I got hook to stories and story telling that is not common in a movie or series. That is why, I am on to indie films and underrated movies in the big screen so to speak. These movies opened my mind and heart about emotional turmoils, political and social issues in the country and of the world in general. Furthermore, it also gives me the true meaning of love which indeed grows and finds its way to a person whom it truly belongs regardless of age, color and gender. GameBoys, on this matter, has delivered the elements that I am looking for; given that majority of Filipinos are conservative and not so open with the idea of "Boys Love" or long time ago, was called "Bromance". The actors are very witty, fun-loving and have the vibe that are relatable to both young and old viewers. Elijah Canlas (Cairo) and Kokoy De Santos (Gavreel) are considered newbies in the movies and films industry in the country yet they have shown finess in their acting and delivered what they are expected to do. At the very young age, they are becoming one of the sought after actors and they are making names in the field. Accompanied by the bubbly and beautiful actress Adriana So (Pearl), the series have given us the complete flavor in a BL series. The producers, directors and the rest of the crew have done well in giving the country's first digital series. What else can say? Well, it is broadcast and shown in youtube by the Ideafirst Company for free. What more can you ask for? All in all... it is a milestone and groundbreaking for Filipinos especially now that it is getting the eyes of international audience.
I have been a Bl fan for 13 years now, its not even called BL back then. I have seen tons and tons of Bl series but by far THIS IS DEFINITELY THE BEST! The show is told in a way that is very unique. So much conceptualization has been done here and you can relate to every single character. The cliche BL scenes won't be seen here. There is no dead air, the story doesn't drag and the actors are phenomenal!
If you are still not sure, at least just try watching the first episode. It's literally 10 minutes long and I am sure you won't stop there. That's the thing with this show you always want more and more with every single episode.
and did I say THE ACTORS ARE AMAZING? I didn't? I'll say it again. THEY ARE AMAZING!!!

Great cast, acting, and story. We can relate as the plot is realistic and very timely.
¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesThe series was created while the Philippines was under enhanced community quarantine because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Each cast member and each production staff member was at his or her respective homes and filmed the series remotely, thru video calls and by sending props and equipment by courier.
