Incredible! I was shock when I see the Shaman King trailer on the screen!! Old Shaman king was the legend! I wish they should have put on the original opening song and the spirit form transformation soundtrack! Opening song was the legend!!! Maybe they will put it in the second season, please!!!

It has been nearly 20 years. Still got me excited! But the songs and the character developments.. please try to keep the anime's spirit! I completely agree with the dumitrachedragosmihael' comment and the other comments that people rated under 5 stars. I should have rated as 4-5; however, for the sake of Shaman King I rated 7.

One people said s/he do not get why the peaple rate the anime after one episode.. The reason is that this kind of animes are legend and it already proved itself. In the 2021 version 1 episode covers 2-3 episodes of old one.. You know what I mean, too quick and it kills the the story line and the character developments.

Especially for me the the opening song of the anime is a characteristic for the animes. Also the spirit form transformation song is unfortunaly too bad.. It is really sad I was really excited.. When you recreate such kind of anime I suggest that you stay loyal old one as much as possible.

The anime series Shaman King is an adaptation of the manga of the same name, which was previously adapted as an anime in 2001. It pits shamans against each other in a contest held every 500 years to determine the next shaman king.

I had hoped that there would already be some comments here that could explain why I found "Shaman King" so boring, because the anime actually has nice animations and also a more or less interesting story, but something bothered me and I was slowly starting to think that has withdrawn interest in this anime.

Back when I saw it there were only 38 episodes and I really have no interest in watching anymore.

The reviews here speak for themselves, which calms me down because it shows me that my gut feeling wasn't wrong.

I haven't seen the original either.

I'll admit the first 13 episodes were rather rocky but when it got to episode 14 and higher the pacing and animation gotten better. I'm glad shaman king has gotten a re adaptation, following closely to the manga and given a new spin on the cast and crew. Some of the negative reviews are warranted while others are not. I've noticed a lot are based on blind nostalgia and poor arguments.

Having been a fan of shaman king since I was young I was sceptical of the reboot.

I remember watching the original on Fox Kids/Jetix and feeling robbed there wasn't another season. Fast forward many years I saw the trailer and instantly got excited.

Four episodes and in and the premise is the same but there are some different tweaks, but that's what you expect. It is done well and provides an action packed anime!

It's a copy of the original but it makes it more relevant and with a little hope this will bring a new fan base and promote some new material.

Need more episodes to make a complete review, but the 13 on the Netflix (17/08/2021) are really good.

Shaman king never was the classic shonen but a manga/anime based on bonds with enough fights to enjoy and a good mirror of life at some points.

I'm a person that hasn't read the manga and I have only seen the two anime series. You can really say that the first 13 episodes feel rushed (in comparison to the old anime and some chapter of the manga. Yes, I read some chapters just to make the comparison). However, it's not true or it's not that bad because the first 13 episodes are fine to connect you with the characters and with well-directed dialogues and fights to entertain you. Also, most things have been showed in the old anime with much detail so they try to reach in a point where the new anime is different than the old one (the old anime followed a different story path) and present the manga story with the detail it deserves.

Let's don't forget that it is an old manga and need new audience so, it may be tiring for some new viewers to watch every detail without having the plot get going. Filler scenes are also there to offer you lagther and give you time to see other aspects of each character during the whole series.

I can say that some things are missing and that's sad...

So.. is it perfect? No, nothing is perfect.

Animation could be better and have many many more for a new anime. The series is not finished yet though (ep 20 at the moment) and each episode is better and better as far as animation is concerned. I'd like them to be better in Blu-Ray boxes.

There could be more episodes but I can't say if 52 are few or okay as long as the series is not finished yet.

Cencorship is there too in some scenes (compared to manga) but there are enough violent and bloody scenes like Iron Maiden's one, however the old anime was way more censorshiped due to 4kids xD

Last but not least, it is pretty logic for someone to have mixed feeling but I feel like it's worth watching, it's not as bad as it is being said and most importantly... the series is NOT FINISHED YET. Let's give it time and I think it will be great in the end and many people will enjoy it even if it is not perect, It won't be the first nor the last anime!

Shaman King is a great show but it needs to have gym badges and the elite four the tournament should be the elite four the show needs to be more like pokemon you needs a rival tao ren should be his rival hao asakura can be the champion of the league the shamans need more spirits.

The person who directed this version of shaman king needs to do better. I was so hyped for it, but this anime does not do the story any service.

There is a lack of tension and pacing throughout this anime. I was giving the beginning the benefit-of-the-doubt, thinking that they were attempting more of a recap so that they could get to the later parts of the story and flex their skills in adapting the story, but no.

This is just Shaman King with bad pacing, no anticipation & slideshow animation.

The only compliment I have for this anime is that the quality of the colors are so good! Is that what most of the budget went to because it definitely was NOT the animation.

If anything, I would want a better animation studio to re-remake this series with better quality and add SAKUGA animation! This series really deserved it...

To compare it to the early 2000's series, I rewatched it and have to say even within the first few episodes the storytelling, action and comedy was much better. The only thing it suffers from is some drawn out pacing like in the Faust vs. Yoh fight, but that rarely occurs.

The old anime also has an alternate ending to the manga due to it not being finished at the time of it's making.

I highly doubt it will happen, but I hope this series gains traction to be remade again in a much better way.

The voice work well in the dub while some voices were out of place, I recommend watching the 2001 anime and this in dub. The scenes are so awesome and it pitcured the.

To get it out of the way, sure the show rushes, they had to fit the whole thing into 52episodes, what can you expect and I too miss the old intro, but ther than that however... This is a brilliant show! I truly feel that this is a remake for the adults who used to love this show as kids(!) And as that, it is truly brilliant!!! It takes place at the same place we grew to love as kids, but all of it is just a little more complicated, a little more complex and a little more interesting! It discusses topics which I think would have flown right over the younger me, but for the present one... now I can truly appreciate them! So I can say whole-heartedly that I believe this is how a remake should be.... I think it is also worth mentioning that I didn't expect to get this much more a story from it when I started.

So to sum it up, if you loved the original as a kid you'll love this as an adult, but be ready the show will not handle you as a kid anymore.... You are a grown up now after all.

Oliver Wyman, Greg Abbey, Dan Green, Erica Schroeder, Marc Thompson and a few others from the 4kids dub of the 2001 series reprising their roles in this anime's dub is pretty interesting.

Netflix has done a great job on this new adaptation, ending is waaaaaaay better than the original 2000 anime. This anime is based on the manga and it has delivered as it had to be.

Yoh and Anna chemistry hasn't been lost, every character had a good development and backstory, the cat spirit part was awesome and I really enjoyed the maturity Yoh has always had as a character, he's sometimes silly but in a good way (this is a Shonen after all).

This anime/manga has a great life lesson, this is indeed for young people, don't know what people was expecting from a shonen of year 2000 we were young when we first saw this anime.

The first 10 episodes are out and I decide to see an old classic remade... I only endured to reach the 3d episode. I wanted to cry.

Forget that the intro music was way cooler back then, I won't even bother you with my opinion that even the animation of almost 20 years where much cooler.

The story telling, ohhhh the horror... It was truly awful. They deleted and changed scenes ruining the consistency and offering nothing in exchange.

If that is how they intend to reintroduce the series to people I can only offer you my advice, go back to the old one guys. It will fill you up a lot lot more!

If you are really interested in Shaman King go watch the original run from 2001 regardless if you've seen it before or you are new to this series.

This is so rushed, looks worse than the original, VA is (imo) bad. Everything is just subpar to the original run.

In 2021 Faust fight is in episode 7, in the original run we see that fight in Episode 15.

Season 1 ending episode here was episode 12, that episode originally was in the episode 24. Need I say more?

I mean I get it, they are probably trying to rush through stuff that was faithful to the mange in the original so that they can get to the part where the anime split from the manga originally. But that's still not a good excuse in my opinion.

I was so hyped for this return of Shaman King cause I love the show so much. Thinking this would be amazing and maybe continue with the various manga spin offs, prequels, sequels and so on. But now I am not sure I even want it in this style.

It's like power rangers..

"fancy" non lethal fights with lethal weapons and power moves with senseless power levels, heart warming ignorant drama, dry humour and zero consequences.. plus poor lazy character development...

it's not bad, but the high ratings are senseless.

First Shaman king was good. Good voices and the story line. Now i listen to yo voice its like wtf happend with his throat, his voice now is bad i feel no passion and happines in his voice..

They are ruining good episodes because they're continuing to put 2 episodes in 1 and with this are skipping important information about the characters which makes the character building pretty bad. Maybe the ones to blame here are netflix for giving budget for too little episodes.

The old series i watched as a kid was a lot better in my opinion.

This supposedly "fresh" and "updated" take on shaman king fails miserably. None of what made the original so enjoyable was retained and none of the weird changes added to this works.

The story is very rushed, the characters have no time to properly develop, and the series somehow feels both condensed and long!!!! Truly a mark of a failure.

It's not bad, but a bit disappointing. What I especially dislike is that they changed the theme song from the epic original one to another forgettable anime song you skip through.

I don't know what they did with the drawings but the old shaman king looks better and more realistic. What happens with the voices of the ghost god dehm So annoying and why yo have a girl voice in japan and engelish wtf is wrong with these people how they don't get it. The new shaman king is a bad bad. For the people that are true anime lovers and they watch the old shaman king. I feel the frustration when you watch the nee one.

People really like this girly Yoh ? His looks, his voice,are just messing the whole character. And so many people give high ratings from the first episode like it is really worth. Sorry for being harsh, they made something that was promising into dweebs material.

The first anime series were simply so much better. Now everything is rushed, character buildings are very different because they have been trying to fit two episodes into one. You can only see real dominant character traits and only seeing them makes every character very shallow and unsempathic. Every good story feels like they have been cut into half. Plus, I did not like the first scene, it felt like they have been tried to make some different points from the first anime but they revealed a huge secret that was very deep connected with the story. Oh and... The character flashs... You just don't give anthing more then the name, we heard it, was that really nessesary? If you liked this series even a little, go watch the original anime, you will adore it.
