So you think an action movie with Samuel L is worth something. I was wrong. It was a lame script. Plot was weird. Ending boring. Ending credits lame scene was also not really offering something new or a twist.
So yeah. I would not recommend watching it. Do something meaningful with your life. I had 2 hours wasted...

. The only afterburn is in your brain as you try to keep up with the movie's logic.
Afterburn is a new thriller directed by J. J. Perry. This is the first film he has directed, although he previously worked as an assistant director on films such as Blue Beetle and several Fast & Furious movies.
Ten years after a solar flare severely damaged the Earth, the world has changed drastically. Most technologies no longer function, and humanity seems to have reverted to a more primitive state. Treasure hunter Jake (Dave Bautista) is tasked with retrieving the Mona Lisa for King Arthur (Samuel L. Jackson). During his quest, he receives help from Drea (Olga Kurylenko), who knows the area well and is aware that others are also searching for the Mona Lisa.
This is only J. J. Perry's third film, and the story is written by four different writers, two of whom are debuting. It's unfortunately evident in the film that this is the first real work for most of them. Perhaps some of them could have used some assistance before releasing this film.
The story is poorly conceived and executed, making it difficult to follow everything in a believable way. It is also written quite simply, which makes the events predictable. As a result, the tension quickly dissipates, making it challenging to stay engaged with the film.
The visual effects are also unconvincing; it is often clear that smoke and explosions were added later with CGI. Additionally, the makeup for gunshot wounds and bleeding does not look convincing and appears more like face paint or makeup rather than real blood.
The acting, like the rest of the film, is not very strong or convincing. Due to the weakly developed script, the characters frequently make illogical choices, which causes the film itself to feel unbelievable.

The film was truly awful. The writing felt lazy and uninspired, with dialogue that never once rang true. The acting was equally painful to watch - flat, overdone in places, and completely lacking in chemistry. There wasn't a single moment that stood out as clever, moving, or even memorable; it was just another forgettable attempt at entertainment. The most baffling part is how they managed to convince Samuel L. Jackson to sign on. His presence raised my expectations, but even his talent couldn't rescue this mess. Instead, it left me wondering whether he owed someone a favor or just wanted an easy paycheck, because nothing in this movie was worthy of him.
Avoid wasting your time and money.
The movie is another cheap action movie containing some familiar names to lure you in - as they did to me- many left before the ending.
In a nutshell: 1- Story: 0/10 ( cliche at best ) 2- Acting: 3/10 3- Sound: 2/10 4- CGI: PS2/10 5- Comedy/Horror: They must've added this genre by mistake.
Bottom line: See above 🙃

"Afterburn" is a low-budget B-movie that doesn't bring anything new to the table, especially when it comes to its visual effects, questionable scenery choices, and a rushed ending.
However, thanks to its strong cast-led by the always-likable Dave Bautista and the ever-welcome Samuel L. Jackson-along with fun, well-choreographed action sequences, it still manages to deliver as a popcorn flick that you can watch just to switch off and enjoy.
