King Lahiri

Set in Jackson Heights, Queens, King Lahiri shows 3 days in the lives of the Lahiri family (widower Mr Lahiri and his 3 grown children) and all their many friends and neighbors as they run their convenience mart.

Mr Lahiri wants his children to care about the store the way he and his late wife always did, but they all have different ideas of what that means to them.

A great tale about the paradigm shifting for all involved with this crucial decision and how they move forward from it.

Side note: Danish Farooqui (Danish) went on to star in Broadway's The Kite Runner as did Uma Paranjpe (Salima) as the first female Pi in Broadway's Life of Pi.

This film is so flavorful... the cast and the location glisten throughout the entire film! Two is the actors have starred in BROADWAY as well in award winning shows!!! I'm sure more will follow! It's a great show highlighting a slice of NYC culture that usually doesn't get much attention... Saima Huq is a visionary... more to come from this force of talent and passion.. watch out world!!! King Lahari is paving the way for the future for films!!! The story is so original and inspiring for anyone who watches. Watch it again and again and see all you miss because there are so many things that you will not notice the first time around!!!
