Black Dog

My first review!

I watched this last night and I only knew it was about two teenagers travelling up north in the UK. I wasn't sure how I felt about it after the first 10 minutes but I stuck with it and I am very happy I did.

The acting from both of the lads was very impressive.

Some of the scenes were quite emotional and I found myself feeling invested in the story.

The road they travel up north on is the A1, a great road which I feel the film did a decent job of highlighting. I always choose it over the M1.

Some of the shots in this film are beautiful, someone has a good eye. It does a wonderful job of showcasing the English countryside.

It reminded me of being a teenager myself and the different types of people we meet.

It might not be for everyone but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think it is well worth a watch.

In bland Brit indie drama "Black Dog" cocky street-wise Jamie Flatters & sheltered middle-class Keenan Munn-Francis are mis-matched London teens thrown together by coincidence on a road trip to Scotland, to address the separate family-based issues eating at them. George Jaques' first-time direction is solid enough (though typically indie) but his co-writing with Flatters (on a first screenplay for both) falls flat (nice ending aside) with for example Flatters' character being nowhere near as charming as they appear to have intended. Despite minor support from Paul Kaye & Nicholas Pinnock (note though that Jason Flemyng's credit listing is a con) it's forgettable.
