I am honestly so shocked at how bad this movie was, that I won't even bother explaining it. Story was horrible, acting was horrible, effects were horrible, and the list goes on.
Anyone who gives this movie over a 1 or 2 was either a part of the movie, related to someone in the movie, or paid to rate it highly. Period.

I was lured in to watch "From the Depths" given the movie's cover/poster, which displayed a great white shark with its mouth wide open heading towards a woman in the water. So needless to say that I was expecting this to be a movie in the likes of, say I don't know, "Jaws" or "The Meg" perhaps.
However, what I ended up sitting down to watch was a drama about a woman whom had apparently been attacked by a shark a year ago and was now having trouble sleeping, as vivid dreams of a shark attacking her had her trembling with fear. And she was seeing the shark wherever she went, even out of water.
Yeah, this was a movie about a woman and her psychological issues coping with being the sole survivor of a shark attack and having problems adapting to her life situation and a potential new love interest. Except, there was a twist... And I will not spoil that, as you have to wait to the very end of the movie to see that for yourself. Believe you me, you'll be as dumbfounded as I was and just shaking your head in disbelief.
The movie was not a great movie in terms of entertainment or enjoyability. It was watchable, sure, but it was a movie that actually could just as easily be skipped entirely and your life wouldn't be any less complete without it.
The acting in the movie was adequate, when taking into consideration the severe limitations imposed by a poor script and storyline, and having fairly rigid characters to work with.
The CGI used in the movie was just laughably bad; it looked like something from a 1990s computer game. It was just unfathomable that something that horrible could pass in 2020.
Now, I can't claim to be familiar with the work of writer and director Jose Montesinos prior to this movie. But this particular 2020 movie wasn't a grand achievement.
If you enjoy shark movies, do yourself a favor and skip this movie, because it is not, and I repeat, it is not a shark movie.
My rating of "From the Depths" is a generous three out of ten stars.

After surviving this movie I am plagued by nightmares of never recovering the time it took to watch it, and hallucinations of visits from family and friends, who died of boredom trying to watch this film. It is easy to forget that this is a story about the effects of a shark attack when there are few scenes including sharks.
This movie had no sharks, no plot and terrible acting. The "effects" were cheesy. Do not waste your time or money on this film. The movie cover/poster is misleading..
Being the sole survivor of a shark attack, a young woman begins being haunted by visions of sharks.
I don't know why, but as soon as I see a shark, I'm hooked, and I think it's the same for many, sure we've all loved Jaws, we were all surprised by The Meg, we all tried Sharknado, surely From The Depths would at least be better than the latter, right?
.....wrong, this film had me wishing I had The Sci fi channel on, and had Sharknado running, even that was better. The shark could have been abutting, it could even have been a ferrel badger, only the marketing team know that people are hooked by killer sharks.
The acting wasn't very good sadly, the cast did their best, and you can only imagine how many green screens they had to react to.
The makeup team tried their best, but they must have been given 5 bucks and sent to a joke shop to buy the equipment. The special effects are sadly no better, they could have been done on someone's home PC about two decades ago.
The twist, had me reaching for the smelling salts, not through shock, more disbelief. I managed to get to the end of it, through dogged grit and determination.
Credit to The Marketing team, if you've watched it, they did their job well, and they deserve a star for that.
2/10.
