Resumen
Reviewers say 'The Equalizer' starring Queen Latifah garners mixed reviews. Many commend Queen Latifah's performance for her charm, wit, and strong presence. The show is appreciated for its positive message, social justice themes, and representation of a strong Black female lead. However, some critics compare it unfavorably to the original series and films, finding Queen Latifah's portrayal less believable. Excessive social justice messaging, over-dramatization, and inconsistent writing are also noted. The action sequences and fight scenes are deemed less convincing. The supporting cast and character dynamics receive varied feedback, with some enjoying the chemistry and others finding certain characters underdeveloped.

This is just not good television. The jump cuts are annoying, there is no believability in Queen Latifah being a seasoned fighter, and even for a network procedural, the writing is generic and over-the-top-hammy at best.
To be fair, my parents like this show for what it is, so I decided to watch the 1st episode with them. And yikes.
It has some likable people ( stand-outs being Tory Kittles and Adam Goldberg) but it just feels like a series trying to be something rather than actually being it.

There was only 1 Equaliser for tv drama. And it was the original. Edward Woodward. He was totally believable. Latifah is not. Denzel Washington in the movie was good. But sorry,Latifah doesnt cut it for the tv series. Go back and check the original series.
Queen Latifah is poorly cast in this role. She's just not believable as a skilled CIA agent. Also the writing is blah... absolutely zero nuance. You are directly told what pretty much every character's traits are.
The fight scenes are edited rather poorly as well. Jump cut after jump cut, it's not stylized it's just annoying.
It's unfortunate because the source material is quite strong, but, this attempt is very weak. Perhaps it'll get better after a few more episodes but the first two were bad enough that I'm not going to stick around to find out.

Even though the Denzel releases had their own minor flaws, they were entertaining and the actor suited the role, and the story was interesting. In this reboot however it just seems ludicrous to have cast Queen Latifah in this role, even though she does do good roles elsewhere.
It just was a bit on the nose, I won't be watching it.

We've quite enjoyed it. It's nice to get a series that wraps up a storyline almost every episode. But there are some big red flags that mean it's a poor show tbh.
Firstly the main character can't hold a gun properly! It's hilarious. She'd last about 3 seconds as her arm flies back and she hurts her shoulder 😂🤷♂️
Then I'm not quite sure what's happened in season 4 but it has gone downhill fast! Ouch.
It's now very preachy and predictable. In one episode a random woman showed up in their holiday home hiding in their house. They didn't kick her out they decided to trust her and helped to solve her mother's munchausen syndrome by proxy! Honestly you couldn't make it up. So random so unbelievable. The Aunt and daughter stories used to be nice. Now they're annoying Nd very preachy. The writing is terrible.
A dscntshow is getting worse - such a shame.
I'm switching off.
