Student Body

"Student Body" is a plotting bore, that fails to be an entertaining slasher, or a gory horror film and almost made me turn it off.

Starting off with the very little good I have, the lead actress does a commendable job for the little material she is given. There are some decent shots with some cool lighting colors. And that's about it.

Now moving on to the very bad. This movie is such a boring slasher that it's almost impressive. This movies only 89 minutes yet it feels like it's 2 hours. The pacing is so slow. It takes nearly 50 minutes for the movie to finally start to be a slasher. And when it is a slasher it's still a slow, and bloodless bore. The movie also has a very cheap feel to it, as almost every death is offscreen. The characters in this movie are some of the worst horror characters I've seen in a while. Not only are their performances bland, but they make some stupid decisions. The movie falls a lot in horror cliches. A character literally falls over nothing and somehow hurts her foot. The movies plot is all over the place. It hardly has a plot. The movie has no tension at all and is basically just people walking around an empty school and talking. That's it. And finally the "twist" of the movie was painfully obvious. This is supposed to be a who-dunnit kind of slasher, and it's completely obvious.

Overall "Student Body" is a boring slasher that has awful characters, cliches, no plot, no scares, or tension, and features one of the most lazy twists I've ever seen.

1st...Whoever is giving this movie a 10?...well...you are fired.

2nd...There is no mystery who the killer is(even though they try to play it like that).

3rd...Same performance out of HQS as always...y'know...Angry, Sarcastic, Tough girl w/ resting b%tch face. The only thing this girl has ever done with depth and good performance was CRUEL SUMMER. It's not really basing her acting...it's just they seem to cast HQS in the same character roles( maybe give her a role that's opposite of what she's always cast as).

4th...No horror. Character choices made no sense-none of the characters are likable except the nice latino guy.

5th...This movie was not horror, but Clown shoes.

This is the worst slasher movie I've ever watched. At first I didn't even realize that I was watching a slasher movie until 45 minutes later. I thought I was watching a regular teen movie. The killing scenes were so raw (not in a good way) and obvious, just like the plot. There was no mystery about the murderer at all. There was zero plot twist. I was hoping the main character was actually behind all the killings, but no. It was way too wild for the writer or director to make. They had to make it as simple as they can. And the acting.... Boo! None of them can act moderately, except for the guy who played as the murderer. I guess none of them has real acting skills. There's so many weak points in this movie I can poke around, it's not even fun anymore. It's like poking a dead rat.

All student and no body. We are talking zero substance. An unfortunate Harley Quinn Smith to plot ratio. Had writer-director Lee Ann Kurr done her homework on a genre she clearly knows little about and underestimates, this Gen Z slasher, which is curiously devoid of sharp objects, might not be missing the most important element of a horror flick... horror.

I was super excited to see this. And super disappointed. The plot is paper thin, none of the actors give believable performances, there is ultimately no point to any of it and there is no actual horror anywhere to be found. Points for some decent looking scenes and that's it.
