Jowable by Darryl Yap aka the director and writer under the infamous Vincentiments: a group of young filmmakers who did tons of jaw breaking short films. They were very known with their wide shot cinematography and also because of some controversy about their insensitivity regarding their contents. To be honest at first I was really entertained by their short films but in the long run as they keep on doing the same formula over and over again, it is not effective for me anymore (in my perspective), so I was expecting that they will redeem themselves with this movie 'Jowable'. It's a catchy movie title, very trendy, trendsetter and I was interested when I've watched the trailer but I saw the movie, itself... I was disappointed, the story is lacking, the ending is too bad, lazy, forced and outdated, it was predictable. I didn't feel the character development of the main character at all, the jokes aren't landing, some of the actors performance were depicted in a bad way but kudos to the efforts, Kim Molina is a great actress and indeed talented but this is her down fall, the role doesn't suit her and really I just don't like the movie as a whole. I felt like I wasted my time watching. Congrats but good luck next time. not bad for a starter. I shouldn't expect that much.
Anyways, it's just my opinion. Take it or leave it, the call is yours.
Story of a 20 something girl asking God to give her a Jowa (Love Partner) coz she needs it and deserves it so much.
The world doesn't revolve on having a Jowa. The movie's plot is so lame.
Everything else is just full of cheap corny tricks to make you laugh.
Some of the acting is good that's why I gave it 4 stars (mostly).

This movie started funny charming and generally enjoyable but somewhere along the way it lost its footing. It was like a completely different movie give it a go
By the beginning of the third act, it's no secret what the story of #Jowable is trying to convey. Some may not gravitate towards its heart-on-its-sleeve approach, but I was personally carried by its sincerity.
The writing is very play-like, with scenes populated by jokey dialogue, and lively interactions. The story itself may lack development and depth for a couple of characters, but as a whole, its very confident in what it wants to say.
I highly recommend this for youth, especially teens. It contains important themes for a culture as love-obsessed as the Philippines'. Apart from references, I'd say even families could watch this and connect on the message afterwards.

This film clearly had it's potential I must say but it never failed to do 3 annoying flaws throughout the entire run.
Apart from the 3 flaws mentioned above, I had an issue with the Acts. Act 1 drags through the entire half of the runtime. It used up the entire half of the film to establish the character through repetitive jokes. There is no interesing incident that happens to the main character to push the plot to the next Act making this film looked like a 2 act story only. What's worse is that when we finally reach that interesting incident for the main character, all of a sudden the events keeps coming in rushed.
I have seen short films from the director and this film doesn't reflect the quality of those shorts.
- Jokes and lines are genuine and funny but it overstayed it's welcome too much.
- Lazy cutting. There are too many scenes where a audience is staring at this angle and for no good reason, there is a jump cut. Clearly, the cut is there because the actress/actor forgot the line.
