It has been a while since I have seen a decent anime. A breather from the mainstream Naruto or Bleach, Blood+ does not seem to have too many fan base on the internet, and can easily slip by as "just another anime." Luckily this is not case for me as it turned out to be quite an impressive anime.
The plot at first seems very conventional for its genre, however it gets more engrossing as each episode passes by. As the story unfolds, the characters becomes more lively, and colorful with emotions. The graphics are very solid, and beautifully animated. Just as the title for-shadows, it does get quite bloody, and gory here and there (but nothing too obscene).
Overall, it is a very enjoyable anime so far. It is far more entertaining than Naruto and Bleach, as the plot unfolds fairly quickly. I will have no regrets spending 22hours (52 ep.) watching this anime ha ha.
I used to watch a fair amount of anime, but over the past few years, my interest in it had been gradually waning, partly because of the decreasing number of good shows being produced, and partly because of lack of time due to my heavy workload.
However, this trend was reversed when I had the good fortune of coming across Blood+. I had never heard of it before, but the premise seemed interesting enough, though not particularly original or unique. I decided to give it a shot, expecting at least a decent and entertaining show but not much more than that.
But what I got was much, much more I had dared to hoped for. What starts out as a fairly conventional storyline gradually unravels, revealing a vastly more complex and intricate narrative tapestry. Its deliberate pacing may be misconstrued by some as being "slow", but as the story progresses, all the puzzle pieces that are uncovered early on start to fall into place, and things that once seemed insignificant or nonsensical begin to make sense.
As for the technical merits of this show, other people have already discussed its superb animation and hauntingly evocative soundtrack, so I won't go into too much detail on them. Suffice it to say that they complement the mood of the series exceptionally well.
However, what really won me over was the exceptional character development displayed here. Without giving too much away, I can say that these characters actually felt like real, living, breathing people and not just 2-D images on the TV screen. They change and evolve as time goes by, and after a particular event occurs, don't be surprised if you find yourself regarding certain characters in a totally different light.
To make a long story short, Blood+ is one of only a handful of shows that transcends the boundaries of its genre, and one of the best amines I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. In fact, it practically single-handedly revived my passion for anime and spurred me on to seek many other great shows, which I probably would not have bothered to watch otherwise. And that is probably the greatest compliment one can pay to any medium of entertainment.
Basically you have a good vampire queen with a vampire servant and a whole bunch of human friends fighting the evil vampire queen with a whole bunch of vampire servants and a whole bunch of human employees. The good always seem to win because the bad are either bored or completely distracted by other things, while the few situations that could be exploited in the advantage of the main character end in emotional outbursts and impotent tears.
What makes it even more ridiculous is that these vampires can only be killed by the blood of the other kind of vampire. Still there are always humans ready to shoot their little guns and (sometimes) shotguns or SMGs. Can anyone guess what happens to them?
I watched all the 50 episodes in order to get to the bottom of the story. It was a complete mess, but now it's over, I can move on. Bottom line: there are a lot of worse animes out there, but there are a lot of them that are better, as well.
This is the best anime series I have seen so far. I saw it all in 2 days 50 episodes and must say I couldn't stop. The feeling I got from this anime series is undesirable. It's almost like you're happy that you saw it and sad that is over. I'm a great fan of other series like Bleach, Banner of the stars, Claymore and some more. But the story/plot of Blood+ is by far the best, not to mention the music, it's absolutely amazing. One can tell that there is hard work and a lot of feelings behind it all. I have never been interested in downloading anime soundtracks until now. What I liked most about Blood is that there are no filler episodes what so ever. Great story, and characters are as alive as you can get in a drawing. It made me see the characters as if they were real, and that's some accomplishment. The animation is good, but not the best I have seen so far. But it's decent and has some mixed CG sequences along the episodes. I'm looking forward for seeing more of Junichi Fujisaku work and hope that he makes more anime like this. So I like to thank all of the artists behind this wonderful work. Thank you for your hard work.

- CuriosidadesOriginally Kenji Kawai and Yoko Kanno were asked by Production I.G. to do the music, but both of them refused because their scheduling conflicts. Since Mamoru Oshii is a great fan of Hans Zimmer, he asked the German composer who also couldn't accept the offer, but recommended his friend Mark Mancina and Zimmer stayed as music producer and also wrote some themes for the series, essentially both composers scored theatrical films from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Zimmer scored The Lion King (1994) whilst Mancina became a recurring composer and scored features such as Tarzan (1999), Brother Bear (2003), and Moana (2016).

Julia: Kai's a nice boy, isn't he?
David: In the battlefield, the nice guys always die first. I don't want to see it happen.
Julia: You sure have changed.
David: Changed?
Julia: Until recently, you were like an iron robot.
David: And now?
Julia: Now you're like an android or a cyborg.
David: I'm growing weaker by the day.
Julia: Really? I like you better this way.
David: In this business, weakness is a shortcoming.
Julia: Man cannot live on strength alone.
David: Is that your advice as a doctor?
Julia: Just my womanly advice.
David: That was not called for.
Julia: How stubborn.
