Façade

"Façade" is what independent cinema should be. The characters are highly original and the ending is extremely intense. The subject matter dealt with is a gruesome topic, but they really pulled it off. I highly recommend this film. I can't believe they made it for $14,000! This film redefines the word INDIE. I was lucky enough to see the film at the SF Indiefest and the audience there loved it. The character of Tits was just so funny and a necessary relief for the drama that builds up like a runaway train. This film shows a hell of a lot of promise for the director and all of the main actors. I can't wait to see the next one. Hopefully they'll bring it up to the city.

A failed attempt about a sensitive subject matter. It feels like a bunch of teenagers got together and decided to write a movie. Not a single word of intelligent conversation.

Acting was substandard. Patrick J. Adams had no idea how to play this role. It was reminiscent of high school drama class. His singing was decent. The rest of the actors faired no better.

Extremely poor sound- at times the "music" was so loud it was utterly impossible to hear the dialogue...but then again you weren't missing much.

I cannot understand the other reviews here. Maybe they were written by middle school classmates or family of filmmakers?

I do NOT recommend this movie for anyone.

"Facade" is a fact-based account of a young man's suicide, made with a tremendous amount of emotion and pain by his best friend. While all of this is evident when watching the movie, the sad truth is that it doesn't mean the film is any good. And it really isn't.

The movie has decent tech credits - it's shot on actual film, features solid but not spectacular performances, and has some good music. The direction shows some mild promise. But none of that can hide a script that goes absolutely nowhere, ill-defined characters, and shapeless scenes full of endless, meaningless dialog. The film seems to stretch on forever, and the ultimate suicide doesn't feel justified at all.

I would assume that few people would say to the writer-director-star of this movie that "Facade" sucks because of what it obviously means to him, and as a result the film has probably gotten further than it might have otherwise. But don't be fooled - this movie has little beyond it's good intentions.

I just saw this film at the Indiefest and it was shocking. I never want to see it again. That certainly does not mean I think this film should not be seen. It is extremely powerful and at times very difficult to sit through. The SF Chronicle said it was "a hard-hitting look at suicide"....I couldn't agree more, unless they said it was the most uncomfortable and exhausting look at suicide that has been captured and put on screen in many years. I'll be honest, some of the audience seemed to hate the film based on its language and subject matter, but more power to Bedard for showing something that some people couldn't handle. It's a cool film. It's tough, but highly worth it.
