Tarantino is the executive producer of the film. He was a huge fan of Eli Roth's prior film Cabin Fever and personally offered to produce his next feature film.

Elite Hunting is a corrupted business that kidnaps and sells young attractive people to wealthy, sadistic, twisted clients who pay tons of money to torture and do the unimaginable to whoever they want, either finding sexual arousal in it, simply boosting their ego, or taking their anger out on somebody, (also possibly liking the feeling of being able to be in control of an individual.) Elite Hunting targeted tourists from any country who visited Slovakia and the wealthy sadists who tortured them were also from different countries around the world.

Technically, no. Eli Roth claims he got the idea from various websites offering a similar "experience" to the one in Hostel and based the screenplay on what he had seen. Whether the sites were legitimate or not has yet to be confirmed.

"Drzim Ti Miesto" by Team. The title is Slovakian and translates to "I'm holding your seat".

When Natalya first brings Paxton to the torture factory, Paxton looks into a room and sees the Dutch Businessman dissecting Josh's corpse. Both Paxton and the Dutch Businessman make eye contact, which is why Paxton kills him at the end.

Except for the ending, the Director's Cut is identical to the extended version. While the extended version shows the brutal murder of the businessman, the ending of the Director's Cut is more brutal. In the Director's Cut, Paxton kidnaps his tormentor's little daughter.

The unrated version features three prolonged gore sequences but it's only approximately seconds longer than the R-rated version.
