For over a year director Nick Palumbo and several of his cohorts have spammed almost every horror related message board on the internet. These people known as shills even stoop to calling others retarded if they did not like the film or if they take any issue with the unscrupulous ad campaign. Because of the near constant shilling of Murder Set Pieces some horror fans have started calling the movie Murder Shill Pieces.

Despite internet rumors, this film was never rated NC-17. On DVD, a strongly censored R-Rated Version and an uncut Unrated DC was released. Besides a lot of violence, the R-Rated Version lacks some plot as well. But then again, it also contains some scenes that are not in the Unrated DC. This fact indicates that the R-Rated Version isn't based on the Unrated DC. There are nearly 79 differences between both versions with a length of approx. 7 minutes.
