Amateur sleuth Samantha Kinsey's latest case has her trying to figure out who killed her best friend Barbara after she was left out of her family's will and every one of the family members become suspects.

Samantha Kinsey, owner of the Mystery Woman bookstore, admits it's strange that her friend Barbara Sommers has been left out of her beloved brother's will. Not only that, the lawyer says Barbara signed over her half of the family business-something she swears she didn't do. Suspecting foul play, Barbara points a finger at her greedy relatives and claims that she has proof caught on film. Soon after, Barbara is brutally murdered. With the help of her friends, Philby and Cassandra, Samantha pulls out all the stops to reveal whodunit. Popular tycoon Avery Summers dies in a car accident during his annual birthday drive in his beloved Oldtimer. When his airhead sister Barbara hears she inherits none of the business empire, which her father started, she calls foul play and contests family and business lawyer Robert Benson's claim that she agreed to the arrangement. That seems improbable even to Baraba's friend Samantha Kinsey, until Barabara is killed by an apparent robber who seems to have taken only the birthday party pictures which Barbara called proof of her claim. Chief Connors refuses to investigate, the family wants no autopsy and the lawyer can legally deny any reading of the relevant paperwork. Still Samantha investigates the family secrets, which makes her car the next sabotage target.
