Exclusive: France’s Atlantique Productions is set to premiere footage from the second season of Transporter – The Series here in Cannes tomorrow, with showrunner Frank Spotnitz on hand. Based on Luc Besson’s Transporter film franchise, the series stars Chris Vance as professional transporter Frank Martin, who can always be counted on to get the job done — discreetly. Joining Vance is Italian actress Violante Placido who will play Caterina Boldieu, a former French intelligence officer who first met Frank when he rescued her from captivity in North Africa. Giovanni Veronesi’s The Fifth Wheel (L’Ultima Ruota del Carro) will open the 8th Rome Film festival next month (November 8-17).

Elio Germano, who won Best Actor at Cannes for Our Life (La Nostra Vita) in 2010, stars with Alessandra Mastronardi in the comedy-drama which screens Out of Competition.

Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia and Fandango produce in association with Ogi Film. International sales are handled by Fandango Sales.

Veronesi’s past credits include the popular Manual of Love (Manuale d’amore) trilogy, What Will Become of Us (Che ne sarà di noi) and Parents & Children - Shake Well Before Using (Genitori & Figli - Agitare Bene Prima dell’uso).

ROME -- Gianni Amelio's Le chiavi di casa (The Keys to the House) was awarded Italy's Nastro D'Argento for best film, and Sergio Castellitto's Non Ti Muovere (Don't Move) garnered three awards, including best screenplay. Sophomore director Paolo Sorrentino and his film Le conseguenze dell'amore (The Consequences of Love) also fared well, with the film's protagonist Toni Servillo winning best actor, Raffaele Pisu winning best supporting actor and Sorrentino himself winning the Nastro D'Argento for best subject. Aurelio De Laurentiis was awarded the best producer award for his work on Che ne sara di noi (What Will Happen to Us) and Tutto in quella notte (All in a Night).
