Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty were shooting the third episode of Netflix’s drama “Adolescence” the same day tickets for Oasis’ reunion tour went on sale in late August 2024.

Cooper, who saw Liam Gallagher perform a solo gig earlier in the year, had diligently set an alarm on his phone that read “8 a.m. Oasis Tickets” and that morning, before filming started, joined the online scrum. Like many — many — thousands of others, he missed out. “I got to the end of the queue and was kicked off,” the 15-year- old recalls.

Almost exactly a year later, the Oasis tour has become the must-attend event of the summer, packing out stadiums across the U.K. and soon the U.S. and Asia. It also features a stellar ensemble with the likes of Jeon Do-yeong, Seol Kyung-gu, Jo In-Sung, and Cho Yeon-jeong (as per Variety). These are some of the most famous faces of Korean cinema, all set to present their acting chops in Possible Love.

If we talk about the plot, while major details are tightly under wraps, what we do know is that it will follow two very different married couples whose lives collide unexpectedly. Korean screen royalty Jeon Do-yeon and Sul Kyung-gu will play the lead couple, Mi-ok and Ho-seok. Korean medical thriller “Hyper Knife” has emerged as Disney+’s most-viewed Korean premiere globally in 2025, the streamer revealed Tuesday.

The series, which debuted with two episodes on March 19, has reached this milestone less than two weeks after its launch, with the ranking based on seven days of streaming data. The Park Eunbin and Sul Kyunggu starrer has dominated viewership in the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide.

“Hyper Knife” centers on Jeong Seok (Park), a brilliant neurosurgeon whose exceptional surgical skills are matched only by her obsession with perfecting them. After uncovering a shocking revelation, Seok finds herself betrayed by her mentor and stripped of her medical license. Refusing to abandon her calling, she begins performing underground surgeries for society’s outcasts until her former mentor comes seeking her expertise.

The series presents Seok with a moral dilemma: use her talents to complete a seemingly impossible operation or exact revenge on the man who destroyed her career.

Coming at you from the other Viacom-owned properties like MTV Unplugged, VH1 Storytellers, and CMT Crossroads, many of the episodes haven't been seen since they first aired. And with a list of performances that includes the likes of Elton John, Neil Young, Mariah Carey, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, and even Nirvana's now-iconic November 1993 performance — which aired a mere seven months before the singer Kurt Cobain died — the list is a treasure trove for any music fan.

According to a press release from the streamer, more than 70 of the episodes have not been available to the public for more than 20 years. And, considering how much purging of content Paramount Global has done over the years, it's a relief to see that some things still get saved in the digital age.

"Seven Samurai" by master Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa might just be the most remade film ever. The 1954 film is, sure enough, about seven samurai recruited to protect a farming village from bandits. The setting, themes, and characters are Japanese, but the premise is evergreen. "The Magnificent Seven" is just "Seven Samurai" but with cowboys. "A Bug's Life" retold the story with, well, bugs. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" episode "Bounty Hunters" recruits the seven from Jedi Knights and alien mercenaries. 

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas is a well-known fan of Kurosawa. (Lucas even helped him finance his 1980 epic "Kagemusha.") The galaxy far, far away isn't the only space franchise that can riff on "Seven Samurai" though. "Star Trek: Enterprise" aped the premise for its season 2 episode, "Marauders."

How do you top “The Greatest Showman”? Well, for writer/director Michael Gracey, that meant turning to the apes…literally.

Gracey directs the musical biopic “Better Man” based on British pop star Robbie Williams. The only catch? Williams is portrayed by a computer-generated monkey. The Paramount film is billed as being an “extraordinary visual spectacle” that embraces Gracey’s “expansive vision.” Gracey enlisted Weta FX and Jonno Davies in motion-capture suit to bring Williams as a monkey to life.

Jonno Davies voices the monkey as Williams. Steve Pemberton and Raechelle Banno also appear in the feature.

Gracey co-wrote the film with Oliver Cole and Simon Gleeson. “Better Man” debuted at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival, where IndieWire critic David Ehrlich wrote in the review that having Williams portrayed by a computer-generated monkey makes “Better Man” a better film.

Yes, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have patched up their differences — and by “patched up their differences,” I mean that they have agreed to occupy the same space while holding guitars in order to rake in hundreds of millions of pounds.

Hulu is about to get two amazing science fiction movies from Steven Spielberg's filmography. Super 8, which Spielberg produced, and Ready Player One, which he directed, will both arrive on the streamer in September.

Super 8 will begin streaming on Hulu on September 1, while Ready Player One doesn't land on the platform until September 3. The former, written and directed by J. J. Abrams, was originally released in theaters in 2011, where it earned positive reviews from critics and was a box office success. Set in 1979, the movie revolves around a group of teenagers filming their own Super 8 movie when a train derails, unleashing a dangerous presence onto their town. The nonprofit Sundance Institute has announced the 10 emerging filmmakers selected for the yearlong Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellowship, as IndieWire shares exclusively.

Now in its ninth year, the fellowship supports storytellers ages 18 to 25 with artist-centered support and professional development. The year-long program starts with the Ignite Lab at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, from June 16 to June 21. Fellows receive a $3,000 artist grant and a one-year complimentary membership to Adobe Creative Cloud. They also participate in monthly webinars focused on creative and professional development, a curated program at the Sundance Film Festival, and networking and relationship-building events with the Ignite community at workshops. Artist granting is supported by Adobe and Arison Arts Foundation.

The Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellowship cohort was selected from more than 900 global applicants.

“We are so appreciative to have partners like Adobe supporting the important work that the Ignite Fellowship makes possible,” said Toby Brooks, Sundance Ignite assistant director.

The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 island features many great new locations and terrain features, including Oasis Pools. These special bodies of water can be found in the game's new Wasteland biome, and players can take a refreshing dip to regenerate health and shields. As a bonus, restoring health and shields using an Oasis Pool is also essential for completing a new weekly quest.

The Wasteland biome contains many of the best landing spots in Fortnite, with several major Points of Interest and tough boss enemies that create great opportunities to obtain high-quality gear. As such, many players make it a priority to land in the Wasteland, and it can often be dangerous. Maintaining both health and shields is crucial to survival, and Oasis Pools can be helpful in that regard.

Five documentaries participate in the May 20 Chilean Docs-in-Progress Showcase at the Marché du Film’s docu section, Cannes Docs.

Moreover, a delegation of some 15 other Chilean documentary filmmakers have swept into town with their respective projects, with themes ranging from gender issues, Indigenous peoples, climate change, teenage suicide and even, true crime.
