Was the vehicle that brought Gregor Fisher and 'Rab C. Nesbitt' to national consciousness and fame but a pre-runner to the Fast Show. It was a series of sketches and it was very original and funny. It was shown on BBC 2 and was probably made to be an competitor to Channel 4's alternative comedy schedule that was owning it at the time. Comedy changed in the eighties and the Naked Video was part of that.
Apart from Helen Lederer and John Sparkes who were both Welsh. It was a totally Scottish cast. Probably didn't get the acclaim it should have done and would have done better on Channel 4 but still - it was brilliant comedy and if you were watching it back in 1986 - you know it.
Gregor Fisher and Andy Gray seemed to be the main comedians in this show, but all the other cast made it the great show it was. Gregor had some fantastic characters like the guy from Outer Hebridies Broadcasting Corp, the guy with the comb over hair and also I'm sure this was the birthplace of Rab C Nesbitt. Andy Grey will always be remembered mainly as Chancer from City Lights but he has a classic character in this show as a poser who seemed to be from Miami Vice.
The show was broadcast on BBC2 and lasted a couple of series. Naked Video is sometimes repeated on cable & satellite and you'll find that some of the modern sketch shows have borrowed a bit but have n't managed to convey the sheer funniness of the original.
¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesA prank was played on Andy Gray during the sketch in which he played a 'have a go hero'. The sketch starts with the camera in close up view on Andy's face whilst he talks about about being a have a go hero' against a group of thugs armed with machetes and hatchets. The camera then pulls out to reveal he is a disembodied head. To do this sketch, Andy had to stand inside a manhole on a safety rig and the crew had to build a pavement around his neck and add fake gore around it. Once Andy was incapable of being able to move once the fake pavement was in place, producer Colin Gilbert started to tease Andy by telling him there may be rats inside the manhole. Andy, who had a terrible fear of rats, was worried even further when he felt something brushing against his leg in the manhole. It turned out one of the prop men had positioned a fluffy toy on a string inside the rig where his legs would be. Gilbert later said "that would now probably constitute bullying at work!".
- PifiasWhen Rab is in a hospital waiting room with an axe in his head, he turns to Jamesie and says to him "C'mon Rab".

Announcer: [after one sketch, we suddenly see the 1980s BBC1 logo on screen]
Announcer: We interrupt this programme for an important newsflash. Hostilities have broken out between East and West after the breakdown of talks, a full scale nuclear attack is on it's way to Britain, and the Four-Minute Warning has been sounded... that's except for viewers in Scotland.
- Créditos adicionalesAfter the credits, we see Margaret Thatcher roaring like a lion in a spoof of the famous MGM sequence. For the final series she was replaced by John Major, who squeaked like a mouse instead.
