The King Of The Beasts?

A lion is taking a nap in his regalia -- crown, ermine-trimmed purple cape, and a big pot belly. A mouse shows up. He's working for a circus, catching animals for the Big Top. Who will triumph in this battle of half-wits?

This Foolish Fable from Walter Lantz's cartoon factory starts out very good under the direction of Paul Smith, one of Lantz's long term and reliable directors (even though here he's credited as "supervisor"). Soon, however, it settles into a more standard cartoon battle, with various props like dynamite and bricks appearing from off screen as needed. It's amusing all the way through, even if the ending winds up a bit flat.
