Editar
  • Jordan: Harvard did a study. It said you could measure a man's longevity by the first thing he turns to in the morning paper.
  • Detective Regis: I'm an obituary man.
  • Jordan: Start with the comics; you'll live longer.
  • President Neil: Jesus, Alvin. You really had her killed, didn't you? She was 25. She was a child!
  • Alvin Jordan: She was a casualty of war!
  • Detective Harlan Regis: [On seeing a livid Neil hit Alvin] Mister... President!
  • Alvin Jordan: I think President Teddy Roosevelt said it best: "If I must choose between righteousness and peace, I choose righteousness!"
  • Agent Nick Spikings: Do you know what it means to be a team player?
  • Nina Chance: Sharp-shooting isn't a team sport.
  • Detective Regis: You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford one, you *prick*, one will be appointed by the court.
  • Detective Steve Stengel: [watching TV report about hostages being held in North Korea] I see, so you negotiate for 13 and how many do you go to war for? 14? Is that it? Everything is about numbers. Two drinks a day - healthy. Three - you're a alcoholic.
  • Nick, Bartender: That's your third.
  • Detective Steve Stengel: Nick, hit me again.
  • Detective Regis: [takes a phone call at a bar] Captain? Yeah-yeah-yeah, yeah, I got a coat and a tie. 1600 what?
  • Alvin Jordan: You're not questioning the President! The Presidency is an institution, not a person. An institution will be protected at all costs.
  • Detective Harlan Regis: This is Carla's tape from her answering machine
  • Nina Chance: Yeah.
  • Detective Harlan Regis: Well, how'd you get it?
  • Nina Chance: I stole it.
  • Nina Chance: I am fully qualified to answer any questions relating to White House security; furthermore, I resent the implication that...
  • Detective Regis: Furthermore, you resent the implication? Man, people don't even speak English in this town anymore.
  • Coroner Jimmy Foley: The blows were from the left - and powerful. A condom was used. No semen. No blood, except hers. No DNA.
  • Detective Regis: Signs of force?
  • Coroner Jimmy Foley: No.
  • Detective Regis: So you're saying sex - not rape?
  • [Coroner nods his head yes]
  • Captain Farr: So they're eavesdropping, for Christ's sake. Big surprise. It's the government!
  • Agent Nick Spikings: If anybody found out he solicited your support for his paranoid theories, I'd hate to think how that would look. What people might think. As a team.
  • Nina Chance: Why is the door shut?
  • Agent Nick Spikings: Excuse me?
  • Nina Chance: And why are your hands on me? Cause if anyone walked in here, I'd hate to think how that might look. What they might think. As a team. In this day and age, they might get the wrong idea.
  • General Clark Tully: We're a superpower, we should act like one.
  • Jordan: This is global Detective. It's a little bit off your turf.
  • Detective Regis: This is a homicide! This is my turf!
  • Nina Chance: You expect me to violate everything I was ever taught? I have duties.
  • Detective Harlan Regis: Yeah, and your duties can send an innocent man to jail for the rest of his life. You wanna live with that.
  • Nina Chance: Yeah, and I think you better leave.
  • Detective Harlan Regis: I think the president's gonna become an international suspect.
  • Agent Nick Spikings: You were born to become a chalk outline.
  • [after a White House camera picture ends up on a tabloid front page]
  • Agent Nick Spikings: [to his staff] Whoever leaked this, I'm going to *bottle his last breath*!
  • Detective Harlan Regis: Somebody's been playin' us like puppets.
  • Nina Chance: You waltz in here expecting me to violate every oath I've ever taken! I - have - a duty - to protect!
  • Agent Nick Spikings: We put our lives on the line - every single day. We have to trust the people we work with.
  • Nina Chance: Is there a problem?
  • Agent Nick Spikings: You tell me.
  • General Clark Tully: You may be prepared to sit around here while they're torturing our boys, I'm not.
  • President Neil: We're not being passive, we're being patient - and prudent.
  • General Clark Tully: Mr. President, I feel duty bound to tell you that your lack of action here borders on the criminal.
  • President Neil: Then you've done your duty, General. Now, I'll do mine.
  • Detective Regis: I'll be damned. Jack, Kyle & Carla: Oval Office threesome.
  • Captain Farr: You want the spotlight? Become a rock star!
  • Detective Regis: The tapes are classified. Out of my reach.
  • Jordan: You Republican or Democrat?
  • Detective Regis: I think Washington is drowning in a sea of its own bullshit.
  • Jordan: Everybody has a price.
  • Detective Regis: Alive and ruined is better.
  • Nina Chance: Than what?
  • Detective Regis: Dead and martyred.
  • Detective Steve Stengel: Hey, didn't that old Senator lay the wood to that stripper around here, somewhere, years ago?
  • DC Cop: Alright, take it easy this evening.
  • Detective Steve Stengel: Just askin'. I didn't see it on my guide map.
  • White House Press Secretary: In 180 years, there's never been a penetration at the White House. President and Mrs. Neil will have a statement for you later.
  • President Neil: Detective, how can I ever repay you?
  • Detective Regis: Don't bother. I was just doin' my job. Well, there is one thing.
  • President Neil: Yes, Detective?
  • Detective Regis: Have you ever heard of the Interstate Commerce Commission?
  • Detective Regis: [after shootout with henchmen] I thought you were a sharpshooter?
  • Nina Chance: Save it!
  • President Neil: [in the White House hallways] How did you get in here?
  • Detective Regis: [multiple Secret Service agents holding him down] I crawled!
  • Detective Regis: So I'm digging. Fumbling through Peoples Magazine and happen to come across page sixteen. There's a picture of Kyle coming back from Brazil... ... ... and you're standing next to him with an earpiece.
  • Detective Regis: You know... ... I must've looked at eighteen months of pictures of this guy. And you know what I found out? I found that you were in over half of them. You were on his detail and you didn't tell me. Until when?
  • Nina Chance: I have nothing more to discuss with you about this. The case is closed.
  • Detective Regis: Agent Chance, when they did remove from Kyle's detail?
  • Nina Chance: You show up here grilling me about work?
  • Detective Regis: Just answer the question.
  • Nina Chance: Don't come to my home again.
  • Detective Regis: Answer the question!
  • Nina Chance: You waltz in here expecting me to violate every oath I've ever taken!
  • Nina Chance: I have a duty to prote...
  • Detective Regis: Protect what? Your duty could send an innocent man to prison for the rest of his life. Are you comfortable with that?
  • Nina Chance: I... ... I think you should leave.
  • Detective Regis: How is it that Spikings finds a button in the bathroom that no other detective found huh?
  • Detective Regis: What did he plant it there?
  • Nina Chance: I asked you to leave.
  • Detective Regis: Did he plant the button?
  • Nina Chance: I don't know! Okay?
  • Detective Regis: Everybody's lying around here.
  • Detective Regis: Okay, so again. Why did they remove you from Kyle's detail?
  • Nina Chance: They didn't remove me. One night I heard sounds. Of violence. Fighting. Coming from his apartment. So I went in, and I found him... ... beating up his girlfriend. And it was ugly. And they... ... we... ... covered it up... ... for him. That was even uglier. And that's when I asked to be reassigned.
  • Detective Regis: Look Nina. I don't know what I would do if I was you, but I do know one thing. I could not let an innocent man fry for something he did not do.
  • Detective Steve Stengel: This looks... um... handled.
  • Detective Steve Stengel: It's a nasty-ass city, Regis.
  • Detective Steve Stengel: Regis, what are you gonna do? Put the President in a line-up?
  • Alvin Jordan: Any President who serves up his country as appetizers for the enemy isn't fit for this office!
  • Nina Chance: [about the room-sized landsacpe models in his small apartment] How did you...?
  • Detective Regis: I'm a homicide cop in the homicide capital of the world. It's cheaper than a shrink.
