Preguntas frecuentes

Orphaned at an early age, Jane Eyre (Anna Paquin) is taken in by her Aunt Mrs Reed (Fiona Shaw), who finds Jane too willful and sends her to the Lowood Institution, a charity boarding school run by Reverend Henry Brocklehurst (John Wood), a harsh and self-righteous headmaster. Several years later, Jane (Charlotte Gainsbourg) leaves Lowood and takes a job as a governess for a young girl at Thornfield mansion in Yorkshire (England). At first, Jane is put off by the ill-tempered owner of Thornfield, Edward Rochester (William Hurt), but she soon learns to see his gentle and vulnerable side and falls in love with him and he with her. Unfortunately, Edward is privvy to a dreadful secret that will forever keep them apart.

Jane Eyre is an 1847 novel by English author Charlotte Brontë, writing under the pen name Currer Bell. The screenplay for the movie was written by English screenwriter Hugh Whitemore and Italian film-maker Franco Zeffirelli, who also directed the movie.

Not able to forget Edward, Jane returns to Thornwood Hall to find that it's been ravaged by fire and that Edward has been blinded in the fire. They embrace, and Jane vows never to leave him again. They marry, and Jane reports that Edward slowly recovered his sight and that their firstborn had Edward's eyes. She also mentions that they sent for Adele (Joséphine Serre) who now lives with them, and concludes, 'We are truly devoted my Edward and I. Our hearts beat as one. Our happiness is complete.'
