So many jumbled-up dramatic and plot elements taken from Hitchcock's 'Suspicion' (1941) that it has to be deliberate: including heavy visual emphasis on the supposedly-poisoned drink, and the (supposed) killer's 'Funny-face' nickname for his victim.
