An auspicious debut with Addio Berlin, a delightfully off-killer independently produced model of no no budget film, shoot as I read in 13 days. The hot duet are the two killers! Almost cult! I enjoyed a lot the film. There is a strange feeling with the main hero, a Greek director living in Berlin by making cheep commercials and comes back to Athens to meet a producer. Shoot in black and white the film creates an unfamiliar image of Athens in which Alex, the hero can not swim so easy. The meeting with the producer made through a TV set is one of the most interesting scenes. It is very fanny that Alex explains to his potential producer that the film that he has in mind is foul of color! And we see just black and white! It is the way films strange feeling goes...

Alex, a Greek film director living abroad, actually in Berlin, tries to find a producer for his script and finally goes back to Athens, Greece, to meet a notorious producer called Max Roman. In his trip he meets a lot of strange figures: another German producer Mrs Rohlitsch, ,a star Lenny Caven, a virgin waitress, Max Roman's assistant, his father, even his double. But at the same time, two strangers are following him, confusing Alex with his double.

With a black and white photography, all these uncommon characters and more uncommon locations, filmed in an expressionistic style, Athanitis creates a strange personal world. Sarcasm and minimalism are the main characteristics of his film and also a lot of humor, although finally this is a drama and not a comedy. A notable, elegant film.
