Amsterdam -- Director Paul Verhoeven plans to reunite with his Dutch producer Rob Houwer, with whom he made his first features “Turkish Delight” and “Soldier of Orange.”
The pair have several productions in mind, including an adaptation of the novel “Erfolg” (Success) by German writer Lion Feuchtwanger.
The love story -- set between the two World Wars -- will have a budget of around 35 million euro ($44 million).
According to Houwer this would make “Erflog” the most expensive Dutch film of all time.
Houwer also approached Verhoeven to supervise the screen adaptation of the novel “Man on your lip,” by actress/writer Esther Waij.
The tragic-comedy, dealing with a high-class divorcee from Amsterdam who has to adjust to modest living conditions, will be made into a feature film and a TV series.
