I can't imagine a movie worse technically than this, and I doubt that the producers took themselves seriously making this movie. It is so bad that it'll have you in fits of laughter. It tries to have a little sub-plot about a strange romance between the monster and a woman in a secluded cabin, but that could have been left out. The monster swings somebody's intestines around, picks a camping bag up and swings it around to impale it on a pole...and best of all, he rips a guy's member off...how could you not laugh?? if this were all done in a more realistic manner (if something that macabre could be realistically at all), maybe it wouldn't have been. But if you like bad movies and you're one of those that likes to watch movies with friends and family only to make fun of them, pick this one up. It's hard to find however.
If jaws had you afraid to get into the water, this film will make you afraid to pee in the woods.
This is probably the roughest entry you'll find in the classic cinema-de-sasquatch genre. While it doesn't manage to be very creepy, or overtly scary, it does manage to be gory (if you can get your hands on the uncut version). Frankly, it is what it is, and if you like B-horror films of this time period, or are a Bigfootiphile, you'll enjoy it. however, if you are looking to truly be frightened, I'd move on.
With themes like castration and bestiality, it deserves a remake!

Another film that is something like an urban legend: being banned in countries like Germany or Norway and also very hard to find the reputation of "Night of the Demon" is much more interesting than the movie itself!
The story is simple: a professor and some students travel to the dark forests to investigate some cruel murders which were caused by a Bigfoot-like monster that looks like Chewbacca from "Star Wars". A feeble minded woman who lives in a lonely hut plays an important role in the solution of the mystery...
Well, the acting is bad, the F/X are pretty cheesy and only the many murders featured in this flick will keep you away from falling asleep! These deaths however are pretty are gory and violent, so fans of splatter movies won´t be disappointed! And also people who like priceless trash should check it out, because "Night of the Demon" is well-done for a movie which was shot without any money! I´d give 6 out of 10...
If you like semi-professional no budget-productions like Peter Jackson´s "Bad Taste", Jörg Buttgereit´s "Nekromantik", J.R. Bookwalter´s "The Dead Next Door" or Bill Hinzman´s "Zombie Nosh" this one´s exactly the right film for you!

I'm not even sure whether I like this movie or not. It's just flat out bizarre. It's also extremely disturbing in several parts.
First of all, the movie was made in 1980, but it looks like a mid- 1970's film. There are a lot of landscape shots with 1970's-style Chicago-esque/smooth jazz/rock music playing in the background. Everyone is wearing flannel shirts for some reason. The dialog is really boring and drawn out.
But beyond all that, Bigfoot is definitely the star of the show and allows the film to entice you to finish the movie. The gore and kills are really good for the time.
There's some really disturbing scenes which went a little too far though. Some guy's dick gets ripped off and you actually SEE it... In another scene "Wanda" is on her porch getting whipped by her father for some stupid reason. Then at one point during Wanda's flashback, the movie gets VERY preachy. There's a shot in Wanda's bedroom where it just shows a bunch of pictures of Jesus Christ, the cross and Holy Mary, with like church music playing in the background. O.o For some reason, this part of the movie feels like you're no longer in the year 1980, but more like the late 1800's- early 1900's...
Then Bigfoot comes and rapes Wanda! Why? I don't know... Her father doesn't do anything, he's just like "You deserve it!" O.O
Then later, Wanda gives birth to a log of moving feces....... Literally... That's what it looked like. =w=
Anyway, I won't tell the rest of what happens... It's really strange... Like I said, I don't know whether I like it or not. I guess it's passable for the super low budget it likely had. It was able to keep me watching it till the end... o-o

NIGHT OF THE DEMON is just one of the my favorites from 1980. As far as I can tell this is the only gory bigfoot movie ever made, and it's a shame too. This sub-genre could have been very prolific (ahaha probably not). The story is about a college professor and his students who venture off into the woods looking for the myth that is Bigfoot. The professor tells his students in flashback about the numerous unexplained murders that are being committed (yes, the yokel who gets his you-know-what ripped off is a definite highlight) until they themselves are stalked by the beast. There's also a bizarre sub-plot involving a disturbed woman, who as a child, was raped by the monster; had his baby and was then forced to kill it by her father!
A crazy, gory, cheesy B-movie that is worth at least a rental.

¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesMost of the kill scenes in the film were shot and added into the film by the producer, Jim L. Ball, unbeknownst to director James C. Wasson at the time, whose original version contained little to no gore.
- PifiasProfessor Nugent's face is bandaged in the opening sequence, and the rest of the movie is a flashback to how his face became mutilated. In the beginning scenes, his face is bandaged so that the entire upper half of his face looks normal. However, when we see the actual incident where his face gets burned, his entire face is burned to the point of causing death by trauma and dehydration.

Crazy Wanda: I burned him. I burned him because he killed my baby. And to save its father.
- Versiones alternativasThe version televised on the UK's Zone Horror channel was complete and uncut.
