CIA Agent Loves 'em and Leaves 'em in Rio

MASTER PLAN: infertilize the USA's population by eliminating the sexual drive (cripes!) via a launched satellite. This begins as an obvious spoof, showing some scientist getting shot in the jungles while exploring a local tribe's infertility problem, with satirical narration (by actor Michael Hordern, maybe?). It's a very goofy start. But, the action switches to Rio de Janeiro, a nice bit on Corcovado, in and around the famed statue, as an agent played by lead Mike Connors fights off a villain. This sets the tone for the rest of the film, a more sophisticated parody of the James Bond thriller than I first thought, in the vein of "Our Man Flint." There's the typical stuff: use of scorpions & piranha, the odd henchman and the main villain (Vallone) who has sinister grand plans for the world. Provine shows up as a femme fatale with a severely British accent. Terry-Thomas then pops up as an effeminate chauffeur who can handle himself very well in a fight.

The exotic locations in Brazil are pretty good; as mentioned in other comments, some of this, including some plot points, seems to have been copied by an actual later Bond film, "Moonraker," though one could argue this happened because this copies earlier Bond films such as "Thunderball" and "Dr.No." The story has some slow parts in the first half, meandering as the hero follows villains and vice-versa. This is reflected in the film's music score, which has a lazy, easy style to it, even during action sequences. As the hero, Connors also ambles his way through, usually laconic or sarcastic, depending on the scene, but projecting toughness. This was just before he began his 8-year run as tough TV private eye "Mannix." To give you an idea of the humor, there's a recurring theme of the hero's fondness for bananas. Things pick up in the latter half when the action shifts to the sci-fi stronghold of the villain. I've heard that this film is a favorite of Quentin Tarantino's. Nobody Else Seems to Have Noticed

Am i the only person in the world who has noticed that the Brazil/Rio sequence of "Moonraker" is an uncredited remake of this major parts of this film, swapping the sexes of the CIA and Brit agents?

Well, it is.

Even the sequence in the bedroom where Bond and the CIA grrl show each other their gadgets is straight out of "Kiss the Girls...".

Spies and bananas! Watch it if you get the chance...

I have a friend who is trying to lose some weight. To accomplish this, he recently went on a banana diet. Whenever he's hungry he just eats a banana. Well it looks like Kelly, the hero of this film, is on the same diet. He eats bananas throughout the movie, to comedic effect and at the most unexpected of times. The man eats a banana while dangling from the back of a moving speedboat! Then he casually tosses the peel into the water!

It's a spoof of other spy films, but it never goes too far overboard with the parody like Austin Powers, which is what I love about it. The main character is not an unbelievable buffoon, but a smart, capable, sophisticated spy—not unlike James Bond but with his own, funny personality—with a few good one-liners and who appreciates a good banana. Sure, it's very cheesy at times, but that is balanced with a generous helping of action and a decent storyline, topped off with spot-on performances and fun dialogue. There is one stunt in particular, involving a helicopter and a well-known Brazilian statue that had me on the edge of my seat.

This movie is both funny and tense. It's never boring, and every scene has something good in it. Mike Connors is great in the lead role, and he's backed up by some outstanding performances by Susan Fleming and Raf Vallone. However, I particularly enjoyed Terry-Thomas' pitch-perfect performance in the role of an unassuming chauffeur with a few tricks up his sleeve.

I saw this film at a revival house in Los Angeles many decades after its release. I was initially intrigued because of the awesomely hilarious title and the strange but funny trailer I'd seen played the previous week at the same theater. Everyone in the theater laughed and had a good time, but after it was over I overheard some of the other people in the theater say that it was so bad it was good. I didn't get that feeling. I just felt like it was good. I haven't been able to find it on home video and I get the feeling that it never received a wide home video release, if any, but if you get a chance to watch it I highly recommend it.

Nice one!

All four main actors, which I've seen in many other movies, they have surpassed my expectations here in a good way. I'm talking about Mike Connors, Dorothy Provine, Raf Vallone and Terry-Thomas. They are all very good, due to the script and Henry Levin's good direction (together with Arduino Maiuri, who has directed only another film except this one). It's a delicious comedy, parodying spy movies, that is, the James Bond genre. And, not accidentally, in a Bond called "Moonraker," they were inspired by this movie, so well is done (this one, because, "Moonraker", just between me and you, it's probably the worst Bond). The beauties called Margaret Lee, Nicoletta Machiavelli, Marilu Tolo, they appear just a little bit, almost not at all. Instead, Dorothy Provine appears in full and she is delicious. Funny character Hans Thorner as Krüger. Very smart film, entertaining, a real beautiful surprise!

So So Bond Knock-off

This seems to be a light knock-off of Bond films of the era but certainly not as well done or fun. The positives are Mike Connors and great scenery in Rio, so its a decent watch if you have nothing else to do. The plot is not well presented early on but you will get the idea who the villain is, who the protaganist is, and the grand plan the villain has to take over the world. I guess that's all you need to know, but it isn't very satisfying. Some plot points are a little confusing with an example of a diary, which seems to be important...and then it doesn't. It has decent action sequences, silly car chases, and lame gadgets. I would rate this a 5.5, OK but not good.

The dress is very tight fitting.She wore white heels and a matching white hand bag. She is wearing very sheer black stockings]
Mr. Ardonian: Miss Soong should have noticed this is the second time she has been here and second time translating. This time there are two of Ardonian's guards who are armed and the large portal doorway next to her is open. This door was closed the last time and there were no guards.Soong has no idea what Ardonian has planned for the Chinese delegation and her.
Wilma Soong: [Soong is confused as Ardonian didn't notify her this was going to happen. So Soong Is completely in the the dark on this. She will sit and wait for this to develope. So she is following Ardonian's lead]
Mr. Ardonian: [Ardonian says] I want you to be perfectly clear on this and I want to eleaviate your worries once an for all
[He turns up a switch and electrocutes the Chinese delegation]
Mr. Ardonian: ELECTRICAL BUUUUZZZZZ .
[They are all dead leaning back in their chairs with their eyes wide open looking up at the ceiling with their mouths open their heads leaning backwards twitching back and forth. They look like a pile of dead mackerel at the fish store]
Wilma Soong: [Soong leaps to her feet ,she is in complete disbelief she is still holding her microphone she looks over at the Chinese delegation and they all have their heads tilted back eyes looking straight up mouths wide open some are still twitchingback and forth. Soong is gawking and her mouth is wide open. She can only make a gasping sound] gasping sound
[then Soong looks back over at the delegation still cannot fathom what has happened. She looks over at Ardonian and let's out with a shrill screech]
Wilma Soong: shrill screech Soong is starting to hyperventilate and is going into shock she says to Ardonian
[Then she is hyperventilating and gasps]
Wilma Soong: gasp
[Soong can't believe how the seven man delegation are all looking up with their eyes wide open looking up and their mouths wide open]
Mr. Ardonian: [Ardonian looks over at the Chinese delegation and thinks he has completely fooled them getting the much needed rocket he needed to sterilize the world .He lets out a very sinister laugh] very sinister laugh
[Ardonian wasn't happy that the Chinese held him up and kept him wondering when and if they were going to agree to his plan. He thinks he has really screwed the Chinese Then his attention turns to Miss Soong. Ardonian starts to look at Soong up and down as she stands there hysterically hyperventilating, nothing like the very cool sly fox that was in his office only a few hours earlier.]
Mr. Ardonian: Ardonian thinks he screwed the Chinese delegation and he will really screw Soong later.
Wilma Soong: [Soong looks at Ardonian and finally drops her microphone and screams out] WHY, WHY
[she starts to charge Ardonian. She is having a very hard time breathing and she is taking very deep breaths. Soong is hyperventilating with nerves]
Wilma Soong: she then rushes toward Ardonian.
Mr. Ardonian: [Two of Ardonian's guards grab Soong one under each arm. Between the jumping up to her feet and the guards grabbing her arms Soong's dress is pulled skin tight on her. Ardonian looks at the extremely nervous hyperventilating Soong and let's out with another] very sinister laugh .
[Directed at Soong. He says to Soong]
Mr. Ardonian: you should be very grateful you are still alive.
[sinister laugh]
Mr. Ardonian: Ardonian. gives Soong a very sinister laugh.
[Soong doesn't answer him but continues to breathe deeply her chest heaving up and down.Her dress is very tight on her chest and her belly. Ardonian looks Soong all over.She has a very perplexed look on her face trying to figure out what has happened. Only a minute ago she was finishing up this assignment now what?He turns to the guards saying]
Mr. Ardonian: Take her to the preparation room they are expecting her.And after she has been prepared bring her to my laboratory I want her taken care of as soon as possible
[Ardonian looks at Soong and yells]
Mr. Ardonian: OUT ! Ardonian was watching Soong's breasts heave up and down . He knows exactly what he is going to have done to Soong and how humiliated she will be.
[the guards turn and start to walk Soong away. Soong is fighting them but she is completely powerless against the two men. Soong is fighting with all her might but it is useless. Ardonian looks at Soong being taken away by the guards and gives the usual sinister laugh.Soong thought she was finishing her assignment and after the rocket launches she could go back to her real life existence, now she has no idea what will become of her. The guards take Soong to the preparation room where a tech hands Soonga glass of water with two large pills. She is instructed take one pill at a time with a mouth full of water. Soong has difficulty with the first pill as it is so big, she has a better time with the second. The first pill is to completely empty her bladder and the second one will empty her colon. There remove her clothing quickly as the pills are fast working but very through.Soong is getting ready to join Ardonian's pussies on ice parade]
