All the Signs Indicating Beyoncé’s Next Era Will Be Rock
Image
Upon releasing Renaissance in 2022, Beyoncé let it be known that it was the first of a three-part musical reclamation series. The first album celebrated the Black, queer origins of dance music, fusing disco and house into a celebratory LP dedicated to her Uncle Johnny, who helped make some of her earliest stage costumes. Act II was Cowboy Carter, a country and Americana opus that was born out of the backlash she received in 2016 for performing her Lemonade-era country song “Daddy Lessons” with fellow Texan singers the Chicks at the CMAs.

Oasis Play Wembley: 5 Takeaways From Liam and Noel Gallagher’s Nostalgia-Packed Return to Stage
Image
“Right then, London, you mad-heads… It’s good to be fucking back.” Words only Liam Gallagher could say.

He and brother Noel finally decided to make amends after years of familial feuding in a move that prompted frenzy last year.

In September, Oasis confirmed their reunion gigs were set to take place across the U.K. “This is it, this is happening,” they had said, as fans prepared to spend hundreds — maybe even thousands — of pounds on tickets. Then, North America dates were released. The duo announced they were playing Toronto, Chicago, L.A., New Jersey and Mexico City across August and September.

Earlier this month, the year-long wait ended: the brothers kicked off the year’s buzziest tour in Cardiff, playing together for the first time in over 16 years for a vast crowd in Wales.

On Friday, it was London’s turn. The famed Wembley venue was practically vibrating...

Oasis’ third album, 1997’s Be Here Now, was also represented with a pair of songs: “D’You Know What I Mean?” and “Stand By Me.” The band also ran through beloved non-album singles “Whatever,” “Acquiesce,” and “The Masterplan.”

Watch Oasis Play ‘Wonderwall’ And ‘Live Forever’ At First Concert in 16 Years
Image
One of the most feverishly anticipated reunion concerts in rock history kicked off Friday evening at Principality Stadium, in Cardiff, Wales, when Oasis took the stage and began their first show in 16 years by breaking out 1995’s “Hello.” They then ripped into “Acquiesce” and “Morning Glory.”

The set then bounced between fan favorites (“Bring It On Down,” “Little By Little,” “Cast No Shadow”), and generational anthems (“Supersonic,” “Live Forever,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star.”) They closed out the night with “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Wonderwall,” and “Champagne Supernova.”

Liam Gallagher Apologizes for Racial Slur: ‘I Do Not Discriminate’
Image
There are certain indisputable facts in the music world. Stevie Nicks collects shawls. Bob Dylan dabbled in Christianity in the 1980s. Donald Fagen has feelings about the term “yacht rock” (hint: It’s “go fuck yourself”). And Liam Gallagher really, really loves Twitter.

A day before the Oasis reunion tour kicks off — an event fans have been feverishly waiting for for the last 15 years — Gallagher apologized for a racial slur he posted on X (formerly Twitter). It’s since been deleted, but screenshots show that he posted a word mocking East Asian people.

Liam Gallagher has weighed in after a fan brought on stage at a Green Day show played Oasis’ “Wonderwall” instead of the punk group’s “Good Riddance.” Someone posted a clip of the incident, which resulted in Billie Joe Armstrong booting the fan from the stage, on X, leading Gallagher to quip, “Best song of the night.”

During the show, which took place in Luxembourg, Armstrong welcome a young man on stage to perform “Good Riddance” on the guitar, something that has become tradition at Green Day concerts. Instead of playing “Good Riddance,...

Green Day Fan Invited On Stage to Play ‘Good Riddance,’ Plays ‘Wonderwall’ Instead
Image
If you’ve picked up a guitar for the first time in the last, say, three decades, odds are you’ve tried to learn Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” It’s a veritable alternative nation classic, as well as a guitar 101 standard. And so it’s no surprise that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has started using the song as a chance to invite fans on stage to play it with him.

That’s what happened last night, June 30, when Green Day performed in Luxembourg.

Billie Joe Armstrong Kicks Fan Offstage for Playing Oasis Instead of Green Day: Watch
Image
Billie Joe Armstrong has long been closing Green Day shows with “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” occasionally inviting a fan up onstage to play guitar on the hit ballad. However, things took a humorous and awkward turn at the band’s concert in Luxembourg on Monday night (June 20th), when a fan decided to play the Oasis classic “Wonderwall” instead.

Video footage posted to TikTok (watch below) shows a young fan starting to play “Wonderwall,” much to the chagrin of Armstrong. The frontman exclaims, “Oh, fuck me!” in the mic, before promptly taking the guitar off the fan’s shoulder and saying, “Nice try, nice try.” The fan then appears to plead with Armstrong, but is ushered off the stage by a crew member, as the Green Day singer goes on to play “Good Riddance” himself.

Even more hilarious, Oasis singer Liam Gallagher reacted to the video posted on X/Twitter,...

Valid Reasons Why The Electric State Has a 15% on Rotten Tomatoes
Image
This article contains spoilers for The Electric State, which is now streaming on Netflix.

Lately, streaming originals have been competing with theatrical releases, so Netflix took a bold risk with The Electric State. Loosely based on Simon Stålenhag's illustrated novel, The Electric State takes place in an alternate version of the 1990s when robots rebelled against humans. Now living in a dystopia where humanity is hooked on virtual reality, a rebellious teenager named Michelle teams up with two robots and a smuggler named Keats to rescue her brother, whom she thought was dead.

The Electric State should have been a hit with Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt headlining, a well-esteemed supporting cast, the Russo brothers directing, and a massive $320 million budget. However, the movie was lambasted with negative critical reviews and made changes from the book that enraged fans. The sci-fi adventure now has a 15% on Rotten Tomatoes...

The Russo Brothers' Biggest 2025 Bomb May Have Doomed the McU's Next Avengers Films
Image
Quick LinksThe Electric State Is the Russo Brothers' Most Panned Movie YetThe Infinity Saga Was Collaborative Lightning In a BottleThe Next Two Avengers Movies Will Make or Break the MCU

Avengers: Doomsdayis the next Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover featuring Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and it will subsequently be followed up by Avengers: Secret Wars. Some suspect that this might be the end of the MCU as fans know it, and the Russo Brothers (who directed the last two Avengers movies) have been brought back to helm these new films. Unfortunately, this obvious Hail Mary pass might come back to haunt Marvel Studios, especially given the directors' latest string of projects.

Netflix's The Electric State has been largely reviled by critics and audiences, with some finding it to be the worst kind of generic content to be found on the streaming platform. This comes after similar disappointments from the Russo Brothers,...

‘The Electric State’ Soundtrack: All The Songs In The Netflix Film
Image
An action-packed adventure with a 90’s backbone awaits viewers in Netflix’s The Electric State starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt.

The film also features the voice work of Alan Tudyk, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate and more. Based on the graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, the film watches Michelle (Brown) and Keats (Pratt) venture into the dangerous Exclusion Zone and the heart of artificial intelligence firm Sentre to try and rescue Michelle’s brother. The politics of robots vs. humans fall to the side as each of them has their own robot companion, and they meet more on their adventures to track down Christopher (Woody Norman), who Michelle was told died in a car accident that also took the lives of their parents.

Several 90’s needle drops play in many different scenes from the more sentimental ones to the high-adrenaline ones. Some are performed by a piano-playing Taco robot.

The Electric State Review: This Russo Brothers Netflix Movie Is Slick, Dazzling, And Incredibly Empty
Image
Anthony and Joe Russo's new sci-fi film "The Electric State" -- a $320 million ultra-blockbuster sneaking its way onto Netflix this week -- has an arch set up that takes many words to explain. Based on the illustrated retro-futurist novel by Simon Stålenhag, "The Electric State" posits that Disneyland, back when it opened in the 1950s, didn't merely construct animatronic robots for entertainment, but actual, high-tech, artificially intelligent robots. Uncle Walt, it seems, was less a movie mogul as he was Dr. Soong from "Star Trek." The world soon became populated by servant robots, each painted with a friendly, cartoonish face. Robot versions of corporate mascots were built, and cartoons were given robotic, real-world counterparts.

In the early 1990s of this universe, however, there was a robot uprising, and the smiling corporate mascots demanded liberation. A war broke out. Humans were able to win the war thanks to a new...

‘The Electric State’ Review: Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt Tangle With Robots in the Russo Brothers’ Busy, Boring Netflix Sci-Fi
Image
The Flaming Lips’ “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1” is a gorgeous blast of psychedelic dream pop about a Japanese girl warrior who represents the best chance of defeating evil machines programmed to destroy humanity. The song evokes an anime sci-fi world that would be merely comical if not for the moving infusion of hope and melancholy in Wayne Coyne’s vocals. The 2002 track is a fitting if obvious choice for the end credits of Netflix’s The Electric State, even if it inadvertently points up some of the key qualities the movie is lacking, namely charm, wit and genuine feeling.

Co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo take full ownership of their boys-with-toys mojo in this slick but dismally soulless odyssey across the American Southwest in a retro-futuristic alternate version of the 1990s. Following Cherry and The Gray Man, the brothers continue their post-Avengers streak of grinding out content for streaming platforms,...

Oasis Set To Return To North America For Concert Tour – Setlist & Ticket Deals
Image
Legendary rock band Oasis announced that after a 15-year feud between the two brothers, they have settled their differences and plan to embark on a 2025 North American tour.

Seven stadium dates in North America are set for next summer, with shows in Toronto, New Jersey, Chicago, Mexico City and Los Angeles, and various sources have reported that the band is also expected to tour outside of the continent later in the year. Celebrated rock group Cage the Elephant will open for the Britpop duo.

Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher formed Oasis in 1991, and the band went on to produce some of the most prominent songs of the 90s. To this day, their hit ‘Wonderwall’ is the quintessential song men use to demonstrate their acoustic guitar skills, usually at parties or on dates.

Oasis ‘Reunites’ on ‘SNL’ and Promises to Not Break Up Before Their Tour: ‘It’s Not a Hard No, It’s a Maybe’

Nearly a year before their much anticipated Oasis reunion tour, Noel and Liam Gallagher shared the stage for the first time together in year on “Saturday Night Live.” Well, sort of…

James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman took to “Weekend Update” as the long estranged Gallagher brothers, promising host Colin Jost that they won’t break up again before their tour next year.

“Everyone’s wondering, are you guys gonna be cool to tour a year from now?” Jost asked the Gallaghers.

“I’m cool if he’s cool,” Johnson’s Noel responded.

“I’m cool, I’m cool, I’m cooler than you are,” Sherman’s Liam shot back.

Jost wasn’t convinced. “Great. So, that’s a no.”

Liam Gallagher Attacks ‘Smug’ Oasis Fans Complaining About Ticket Prices For Reunion Tour: ‘Shut Up!’
Image
Last week, iconic Brit band Oasis announced they are set to reunite for a tour across the U.K. next summer, which marks the end of a 15-year break and the long-standing feud between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher.

But Liam was riled up but fans who criticized ticket prices. ‘Shut Up,’ he wrote on X.

“Oasis are back your welcome and I hear their Attitude Stinks good to know something’s never change,” he added later.

The band, known for classics like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” originally disbanded in 2009 after years of internal conflict. Noel’s departure came just before a scheduled festival performance near Paris, which led to an even more significant rift between the brothers.

Noel disputed the accusation and sued, though he later dropped the lawsuit.

“Oasis tickets are a joke”: Even Red Dead Redemption 2’s Roger Clark is Missing Out on the Reunion Everyone Wants to Be Involved With
Image
On August 27, the iconic British band Oasis announced their reunion and a United Kingdom tour that will commence in 2025. As expected, the ticket situation for the tour has been a massive mess, and even Roger Clark from Red Dead Redemption 2 is frustrated with it.

The tickets for the tour went live today, but it quickly turned into a fiasco. Digital queues to access the website were extremely long, and barely anyone got a chance at the tickets. Many die-hard fans missed out on the tickets, while scalpers are reselling them at 5-10 times their original value.

Oasis Fans Complain Of Ticketmaster Errors, Long Waits & Price Surges For Reunion Tour
Image
Many Oasis fans who are gearing up for that long-awaited reunion tour have hit a ‘Wonderwall’ while waiting online for tickets.

After the British rock group added three dates to their stadium tour due to overwhelming demand, fans have taken to social media to complain about long waits and other errors on Ticketmaster, just to be met with a £200 price surge on tickets.

“How the f— is this even allowed??? You said standing was £150 and upped them to £356 and called them ‘in demand’ you bunch of robbing f—ers,” wrote one customer on X. Another asked, “How is this not illegal?”

One group of friends recreated the band’s 1994 Definitely Maybe album cover, looking manic around their apartment with multiple computer screens set up on Ticketmaster. “Waiting in the queue for oasis tickets like,” they wrote.

After the pre-sale for Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour previously crashed Ticketmaster in 2022, leading...

Liam Gallagher Threatened to Stab Sacha Baron Cohen for Not Making Fun of Him
Image
The biggest story in the world of entertainment this week was the news that Oasis is back. Yes, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have patched up their differences — and by “patched up their differences,” I mean that they have agreed to occupy the same space while holding guitars in order to rake in hundreds of millions of pounds.

Of course, the Gallaghers have a reputation for being about as emotionally stable as their watermelon-smashing namesake was. And they don’t just feud with each other. Liam Gallagher once beefed with Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, who presumably isn’t used to being threatened when he’s not dressed in a goofy costume.

As Cohen revealed during a 2016 appearance on Conan, he met the famous rocker while accepting an award from GQ four years earlier. For some reason, Cohen decided to make a joke about Liam Gallagher during the speech, knowing...

After performing the grungy song during the show, which also featured Tim Heidecker and Fenne Lily, Jordan shouted, “Welcome back, Oasis.”

Jordan has covered Oasis before, including renditions of “Wonderwall” and “Live Forever.” She shared an Instagram story of herself earlier this week anticipating buying tickets for Oasis’ 2025 tour,...

Watch Oasis Play ‘I Am The Walrus’ at Final Show Before Bitter Breakup

Nobody who caught Oasis’ set at the V Festival in Staffordshire, England, on August 22nd, 2009, knew they were watching a band just hours away from complete implosion. The group had been on the road for a year at that point, supporting their new album Dig Out Your Soul, and had a mere four gigs to go before it wrapped up. They took the stage at the end of the evening following sets by James, Elbow, and Snow Patrol and performed a 19-song set heavy on classics like “Wonderwall,” “Supersonic” and “Champagne Supernova.

Oasis Reunion? Speculation Grows Over Gallagher Brothers Reuniting for Concerts
Image
Have the Gallagher brothers finally buried the hatchet? There is growing speculation that Liam and Noel have put aside their legendary differences to reunite Oasis and undertake what is sure to be one of the most anticipated series of gigs in the U.K. in decades.

Citing music industry insiders, The Times of London reported Saturday that Oasis is set to play a series of concerts in the summer of 2025, with “multiple vast gigs” planned for Heaton Park in Manchester and Wembley Stadium in London. The Times reports there are even early murmurings of Oasis potentially headlining Glastonbury next year.

The Times report has been confirmed by a number of other U.K. newspapers. Liam also seemed to confirm the Times report, when he replied to the publication on X (formerly Twitter), “See you down the front.”

The speculation went into overdrive Sunday, when the official Oasis social channels posted...

How Shaboozey Channeled Zach Bryan and Pharrell Williams to Make ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’
Image
When Shaboozey was writing “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” he wanted to keep the arrangements sounding as organic as possible. He built the track around J-Kwon’s 2004 hit “Tipsy,” and within an hour, he had his very own ode to raising a glass — with a country twist. The megahit quickly went viral and topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart, surpassing “Texas Hold ’Em” by Beyoncé. (Shaboozey had actually teamed up with her for two songs on her recent country LP, Cowboy Carter.) Together, they became the first two Black artists to lead that chart back-to-back.

SNL Video: Ariana Grande Parodies Moulin Rouge With an Unhinged Musical Mashup — Watch
Image
If coughing blood into a napkin is “movie for dying,” Ariana Grande and Bowen Yang pairing up for a musical mashup is “Saturday Night Live for funny.” And funny it was!

In this weekend’s spoof of Moulin Rouge, the 2001 film starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, musical guest Grande joined Yang in a never-before-seen, uncut version of the film’s iconic love medley. The extended mashup started off the same as the actual film’s, but quickly segued into a particularly giggly Yang and Grande duetting a bizarre collection of mostly unrelated, unromantic songs including “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Ariana Grande Performs eternal sunshine songs, Spoofs Moulin Rouge on SNL: Watch
Image
Josh Brolin technically served as the host on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, but Ariana Grande also spent plenty of time on screen. In addition to serving as the episode’s musical guest, the pop star appeared in three separate sketches, including one in which she and Wicked co-star Bowen Yang spoofed Moulin Rouge.

Marking her first live appearance in support of eternal sunshine, which was released this past Friday, Grande performed “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” and “imperfect for you.” For the latter performance, Grande was introduced by her mother.

Grande also teamed up with Yang for a spoofing of Moulin Rouge, which saw the pair sing songs that were cut from the final version of the film, such as Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me,” Oasis’ “Wonderwall,” Styx’s “Come Sail Away,” and “Happy Birthday.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Grande...

‘SNL’: Ariana Grande Previews ‘Wicked’ Riff After Singing Medley of Hits by Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez and More With Bowen Yang

Ariana Grande wasn’t just the musical guest during the March 9 episode of “Saturday Night Live.” While she took the stage to perform two songs from “Eternal Sunshine,” her just-released sixth album, “We Can’t Be Friends” and “Imperfect For You” — and was introduced by her mom, Joan Grande, for the second number — she also took on two different sketches.

After appearing as a patient in a group therapy session during the first half of the show, she was invited back to the stage later on in the night for a “Moulin Rouge” spoof, giving her the opportunity to sing covers of multiple hit songs.

The sketch created a PBS special, hosted by Mikey Day, taking a look at what the “Elephant Love Medley” would have looked like had director Baz Luhrmann known they’d be able to get the rights to other love songs; Bowen Yang and Grande played Christian and Satine,...
