    Fun, light comic book adaptation

While not quite as engaging as TINTIN ET LE MYSTERE DE LA TOISON D'OR(1961), this adaptation is fun and silly enough to impress most children under 10 and adult fans. Jean-Pierre Talbot makes for an athletic Tintin and resembles the character physically, which is what counts. Jean Bouise as Capitaine Haddock is rather silly and a lot more like the comic book character than his incarnation in the previous movie(George Wilson). The story is typical Tintin fare, with adventure in exotic places(in this case Valencia, Spain) and over the top bad guys. For those of you not familiar with Tintin, let's just say that every French speaking child(and most European children) under the age of 14 has been thrilled by his comic book adventures for over half a century. In this film we find our heroes and their friend Professeur Tournesol going to Spain to investigate the blue oranges of the title. After much to-ing and fro-ing, they expose the villains who have captured the professor and his Spanish colleague. A really funny moment occurs when Captain Haddock finds a bottle of whiskey and attempts to have a drink while Tintin tries to get him to check out the clues he has found. Anyone who has read a Tintin book knows that the good captain likes his drink and will try anything to have one. Overall, silly but a lot of fun, especially if you are young or young at heart. I give it 6 comic books out of 10.

French-Spanish co-production based on the immortal character created by the genius Georges Remi , Herge

Second and entertaining live-action Tintin retelling with exciting adventures set in Valencia , Spain . Original plot inspired on the popular and famous comic books by the great Herge , being a likable and silly rendition starred by the sympathetic personages with special leading roles from professor Tournesol who discovers a formula against famine and of course captain Haddock . Since his creation in 1930 with ¨Tintin in the land of Soviets¨ the success has been unstoppable . Within the next 80 years Tintin became one of the most popular European comics of the 20th Century , due to its well-researched plots , appealing characters , humor , political thrillers, & real world settings . ¨Tintin¨ is a real hero followed by every Belgium kids and most European children and many grown-up people have been interested by his comic book adventures for past and present century . This time our friends go to Spain where takes place several adventures . The picture will appeal to the fans of the popular animated hero named Tintin and his faithful sidekicks as well as the comic-books nostalgics . Our friends Tintin (Jean Pierre Talbot who looks exactly like him and only starred two films about Tintin) and Haddock (Jean Bouise , replacing Georges Wilson, who bears remarkable resemblance and perfect performance), Tournesol (Felix Fernandez) and the butler Nestor are living at the palace of Moulinsard when the professor receives a peculiar gift , a blue orange that matures in five days , but being robbed by mysterious thieves . As Tintin and captain Haddock along with the botcher Dupont brothers (In Spain are named Hernandez and Fernandez , who this time are pursued by a bull at some graceful and funny scenes) travel in Spain , when an old colleague of Tournesol , Doctor Zalamea (Angel Alvarez) is kidnapped . Later on , professor Tournesol is also abducted by a gang of nasties . Tintin and Captain Haddock try to discover what is so desirable about their old friend and his location . Meanwhile , they are helped by a band of children led by Pablito (Pedro Mari Sanchez). After a while , the truth comes out and battling over-the-top bad guys .

This is a fun , light , adventure comic book adaptation with hilarious moments here and there . It has Tintin and his inseparable friends captain Haddock , absent-minded professor Tournesol , the bungler Dupont brothers taking on , as always, against stupid enemies , and ruthless and mean international delinquents and Arabs . Here Jean Bouise steals the show as grumpy , drunken Captain Haddock , as he runs , fights , dances Flamenco , does gestures , Indian dancing and many other antics . This live action movie of the popular "Tintin" comic-book magazine brilliantly captures the outrageous adventures, tongue-in-cheek , satire, comedy ,taking the characters and some elements from original stories . Although contains some silly scenes and a medium budget , however being a lesser effort than previous entry titled ¨Tintin and the golden Toison¨ . This amusing movie is accompanied by lively musical score by Antoine Duhamel with a catching leitmotif on the start and the ending . Full of humor , it's a funny entertaining for kids and grown-ups . Entertaining screenplay isn't based on the known comics by Herge but originally written by Rene Goscinny , Asterix's author . Based on the unforgettable characters created by "Hergé" born under the name Georges Remi on May 22, 1907 in Brussels, Belgium. As a child, Herge had a gift for drawing but never had any formal training in the visual arts. He attended both school and the boy scouts during the World War 1 and post-World War 1 era. After he finished school Herge published his first ever cartoon: "The Adventures of Totor". 1929, Herge introduced a cartoon about a traveling Belgium reporter (Tintin) accompanied by his fox terrier (Snowy) traveling the Soviet Union. By 1930,Herge published the very first Tintin book: "Tintin in the Land of the Soviets". After that , followed a weekly magazine in 1946 . Later on , it's published successful comic books as ¨Cigarrettes of pharaoh, Treasure of Rackam the Red ,Tintin and the scepter of Ottokar¨. Tintin soon became Herge's "ligne Claire" (French for clear line) legacy. The later adventures of Tintin involved other locations of the world from China ¨The blue Lotus¨ all the way to America as ¨Tintin in America¨. After completing 23 books, Herge passed away on March 3, 1983, leaving "Tintin & the Alpha-Art" (The 24th book) unfinished . Under Belgium publisher Raimond Leblanc's guidance, the boy reporter became the hero of a weekly children's magazine, with Hergé as the artistic director and magnificent creator of the immortal personage . Later on , Raymond Leblanc produced the following films: ¨Tintin in the lake of Sharks¨ and 1970 ¨Tintín in the temple of the sun¨. The picture will appeal to Tintin comic-books buffs . An agreeable , funny adaptation from a great comic book.

    Uninspired Tintin live action film

In 1961, there was a successful, entertaining live action film based on the Adventures of Tintin (though not based on any particular book) named Tintin and the Golden Fleece, filmed in Greece and Turkey, with Jean Pierre Talbot playing the young reporter. A second film came out in 1964. Talbot is again Tintin while there is a new actor playing Haddock, the always gesticulating Jean Bouise.

The plot has Professor Zalamea, a Spanish scientist, sending Calculus (Felix Fernandez) a blue orange, a part of a research program into food that will be a key to ending world hunger. When the orange is stolen in Moulinsart, Calculus decides to go to meet the scientist, but soon after arriving he is kidnapped, so Tintin and Haddock are onto his rescue.

This second film is far less successful than the first one. The locations (in Southern Spain) are not as attractive as those of the first film, the plot is more silly than interesting, the direction less inspired. Even Tintin fans might be hard pressed to like this a lot. Rene Goscinny (of Asterix fame) was one of the writers. Herge is uncredited though he probably had some creative input.

The castle of Marlinspike (Moulinsard in French) is based on an existing French castle: Cheverny, on the Loire river. Unfortunately, the real castle has two extra towers on each side, recently added. For the movie, they chose the castle of Ecquevilly, which was was at this time a sanatorium - now the city hall. Interestingly enough, two other movies took place in this small city : "Les risques du metier" from André Cayatte (the school is in fact the former city hall), and El día más largo (1962) from Ken Annakin.
