A CBS radio staple since 1943, the TV version was unique in that the show was broadcast live to separate parts of the country on consecutive nights, requiring the actors to perform the same script twice. This situation lasted from the series' debut on 12 July 1951 through September 1951. CBS managed to consolidate its nationwide telecasts the following season.
