The film's Italian actors, Gina Lollobrigida and Nerio Bernardi, have their voices dubbed by the uncredited Claire Guibert and Alexandre Rignault.
The original black & white version underwent a 4K digital restoration by the Hiventy labs from the nitrate image and sound negatives in 2020.
This film gave the Italian Gina Lollobrigida her first big hit, gaining her attention around the world. This movie came a couple of years after Lollabrigida had returned to Europe from Hollywood where she had been pursued both personally and professionally by Howard Hughes who tried to convince her to sign a seven-year contract with him, which she did, and sign divorce papers with her husband, which she didn't. Following this film, Gina Lollobrigida stayed in Europe to make René Clair's Mujeres soñadas (1952) and Robert Siodmak's El gran juego (1954), with her Hollywood debut coming in between those--La burla del diablo (1953) directed by John Huston and co-written by Truman Capote.
The film's director, Christian-Jaque, won at the 1952 Cannes Film Festival for Best Director, and his film also won the Grand Prize of the Festival at Cannes.
